OMFG Can't wait loved the first movie
|
i liked the lastest movie (forgot name), hopefully this one just be as good.
|
Can somebody explain to me why the first movie was so well received? I watched it, and while I didn't find it unbearable like some of my hardcore trekkie friends did, I didn't find it good by any means.

That end clip is suggestive spoilerish if you watched + Show Spoiler + Very suggestive. + Show Spoiler + was a great movie imo, and I also loved The Undiscovered Country as well.
It looks like it will be a good action movie at least, but I wonder if it will be a good Star Trek movie as well.

Do we really need to spoiler-tag things from a 30 year old movie?

The new star trek film was an action science fantasy set in the star trek world. And it was pretty good. Science fantasy is Star Wars, Aliens, etc. For what it tried to be, it was really good. If you were expecting science fiction Star Trek, go watch a good star trek like TNG or DS: 9.

Benedict cumberbatch as Khan? There's no way this can be bad.

Look forward to it. While I disliked the whole "let's make a completely new cannon instead of just making a modern remake", I felt it was a wellmade movie. I prefer "harder" forms of science-fiction which is why I'm a huge star trek fan, but I feel that if you just shut off your "man, this is actually star trek, it has to be exactly like..", it's quite an enjoyable hollywood movie.

meh. will netflix this one. hard to get past the first one wherein a space mining ship is a massive death star, loaded up with a bunch of torpedoes and laser blasters and a crew of miners are experts in hand to hand combat.

Two things jump out at me immediately: looks... looks a lot like the dark knight. A movie I liked. But also, what's up with all this revenge stuff? Shit man hook a brotha up with a villain who's like, got shit to do that is constructive (but in terms of villainous!) rather than being all about revenge. Still, mad nerd chills from the trailer. Loved the previous movie so naturally will be watching this. Also, hey, star trek.

They tried to explain in the accompanying comic series that the mining ship was decked out with reverse-engineered Borg technologies at a secret, high-tech Romulan base before going back in time, but it's not the most elegant way of explaining inconsistencies in the movie.

Really looking forward to it. But i hope that the movie has not the same "mood" as the trailer because Star Trek was never known to be so serious. It feels like The Dark Knight pushes every franchise in the "darker" corner.

Imagine like Imperial Rome meets Sparta. Very warlike-- not evil though. The Roms in the movie were crazy dudes, they're actually pretty chill, just in a militaristic fashion. They also have a peace movement and such.

That one blond girl in the trailer looks suspiciously like Elizabeth Dehner. Hmmmm...
