There is Project M which is a mod that makes Brawl a bit more competitive. I don´t understand what you mean with missing mechanics and slower. My friends and me switched to brawl as soon as it came out and we never felt any worsening. Only the maps are unplayable with so much random shit and moving plates and so on... AND MEWTWO WAS LEFT BEHIND!!

[I know Mewtwo is too cool ] Because melee is a superior competative game in every way. It's faster, has a much higher skill level, it's way more exciting and the balance was better (not good, but better than brawl). Brawl is way too slow and campy, it's quite boring. And SSB4 is expected to be the exact same way, Nintendo said. So melee is just much better.

Some examples - No L-cancelling/wavedashing killed a lot of the mechanical skill required to play at the top level. The floatier physics meant that players had more of an opportunity to DI since characters in Brawl generally die at higher percents than in Melee.

Look at some of the videos in this thread, like How Fast is Melee. There is no "How Fast is Brawl" video because the answer is "slow as fuck."

These are technically bugs, but they added so much depth and skill to the game. Melee is full of mechanics like that, that brawl took away. So while casuals don't even notice that those mechanics are gone, pro's feel like they can't even play the game anymore.

As long as Ness and Zelda can be played I actually dont care which SSB gets played^^ It's a big difference, especailly in how long the games take to play. Brawl characters die at a much higher percent, plus the game is just slower in general, so the games take forever compared melee.
