I just had to share this manga with everyone. Don't know if many people know about this manga, but I hope you guys can get into it and enjoy it.
Description: Strange murders are happening in Tokyo. Due to liquid evidence at the scene, the police conclude the attacks are the results of 'eater' type ghouls. College buddies Kaneki and Hide come up with the idea that ghouls are imitating humans so that's why they haven't ever seen one. Little did they know that their theory may very well become reality.

ahhh I was gonna make the thread once twisted hel scans caught up all the missing chapters(only 2 more). The anime is starting in a couple of months too which I'm super pumped for, but I think it will only cover upto gourmet arc.+ Show Spoiler +which is a shame because you don't get to see him go from this puny loser to a badass anti-hero type because of all the torture in the Aogiri arc.
|
this series recently got its 1st episode as an anime. also + Show Spoiler +kaneki going ham in the current manga arc
|
The anime looks really interesting so far!
|
Hell the manga is what is amazing. A LOT of detail and foreshadowing of what is going on, if you are attentive. It is pretty freaking cool. The anime derps a bit in that regard... Cut out a lot of plot.

i missed this thread lol the latest chapter is pure sickness. goddamn
|
tell me about it, + Show Spoiler + WTF
And Kaneki who was once peaceful .. jsut going ham is orgasmic.
Also, the person who runs aogori tree is + Show Spoiler + is a real head fk

No no + Show Spoiler [serious spoiler] +there are TWO one eyed owl and they are related (father and son, owner of the cafe used to be the notorious one eyed and then his son 'took his place') . They didn't know that it was the 'fake' one until the 'real' one showed up, in which the dude doesn't even look like human anymore. .

I don't recall reading that and I just caught up to date from starting yesterday... and why did that scene take place all of a sudden? kaneki went to see touka then all of a sudden all hell breaks loose with no buildup.
+ Show Spoiler +wait wasn't implied that the real one eyed owl is anteiku owners son? There were three incidents related to one eyed owl. The first is when one eyed made his debut and killed agents got promoted to a rated ghoul. Second time hit some prison raised to SS rating. The third incident had oddly no human deaths just casualties SS ghoul raised to SSS ghoul and nicknamed one eyed owl, where genius shinigami arima fatally wounded owl, who is heavily implied to be anteiku owner. The other two incidents were caused by the son. Whether or not aogiri was created by anteiku owner, well this manga has done many plot twists so there could be some relation or not....

For those confused, competing scanlator groups are scanning chapters out of order, some did the most recent ones, while others are working in order, while yet some are picking choice chapters they like. The good news is most of the gaps are filled. The bad news is 118-119 121-132 are still missing. Also, hence why the language in the chapters may be inconsistent, some of the translators are real ghetto lol, and different groups may prefer different slang or interpretations of Japanese language.

This is actually a really interesting manga, never had a gory manga being told from the monsters' perspective. Interesting, interesting.

Was thinking about picking this up when I heard about the anime, so I started reading, and i... can't... stop... reading whathaveyoudone?!?
I also love the perspective of the story, really raises questions about morality and our place in the world. It's very good.

I stopped getting into this story after Kaneki got a huge power-up and decided to go do something else instead of staying at the coffee shop. The story of a human/ghoul hybrid trying to integrate himself in both worlds was a really interesting concept to me (like Touka being friends with the cook chick). The story then takes a turn towards a sort of three-way conflict between warring ghouls, investigators and this new Kaneki clan. This is interesting, but not as interesting as the hybrid trying to do make the best of both worlds.
Maybe I burned out because I read 80 chapters in one sitting, just my 2 cents.
Nonetheless, this concept can be found in a lot of mangas actually. Spoilers for Attack on Titan and Claymore
+ Show Spoiler +For example we start Attack on Titan with a human vs titan concept that I find kind of fascinating, but quickly the entire plot shifts towards a three-way conflict between human/titan hybrids, the king and his cronies and the scouts. The titans themselves and the terror they inspire become sideline material and the story becomes a political one. The same thing could be said for claymore, in a loose sense, where it's less the yoma that are scary now, it's rather the awakened beings vs the organization vs the rebel claymores. It's once more a three way conflict that has little to do with the original story. The entire plot comes and twists itself onto something completely new, a sort of political war, which is probably less interesting than humans / ghouls / claymores etc trying to figure out the strange world they've been put in.
if anyone wants to rebound off of that, go ahead

That is why i am loving this manga since the beginning. i dont think it was the writer's intention to make a long term ongoing manga but he managed to extend the story really really well. Yes some people might say it is a little 'mainstream' since the beginning chapters but so far it is still interesting and entertaining, alot of 'deep stuffs' etc and excellent gore/fighting scenes with his unique drawing style.

I cant remember it clearly but i remember he went to sorta say 'farewell' to his closed ones before he went to the scene (he even fought the connoisseur because he tried to stop him haha). He was struggling really hard whether he should go to help the cafe owner but alas he went on because he won't be able to live the regrets if he didnt do it.
the true sickening part from the latest chapters is that he might + Show Spoiler + before he met the final boss of CCG.

the sickness is pure in the latest chapter. sick sick sick.

Since the thread is so deservingly bumped, I would like to point out that every missing chapter has been uploaded. Happy binge reading to those who, like me, were stuck on chapter 117.
