Another huge tournament in China! Impressed!
Also: monk is back!
|
holy crap. That's so much money.
|
Slight shame that for $100k 1st place its invite.
|
Nice to see MagicWind there!
|
how can this be invite only...
i srsly dont understand, just make 4 spots for quialifiers for the newcomers, give them chance to shine
|
Because China, Visa
If they hold a qualifier they have to have 3 month between that and actual tournament, then 2 of the qualified player can't get visa anyway and they have to find random Chinese player to fill in the spot, bad business all around.

So tired of your whining. Can you atleast win something and then talk?

calling it how it is. according to your statement a few of those invites shouldnt be there ;D If youd like to debate this further, I'd love to have you on my stream, pm me your skype
I speak for the 300+ people that dont have a voice in the community.
Also its already been mentioned on this thread a few times already. Sorry if you dont like it, but I have passion for this game and card games in general, and I play it more than you and would like to see equality.
Its not called whining when tournaments are adapting more and more to qualifiers as we have seen in past 2 months. Its called making progress.

And why would people who get invited for popularity be able to get a visa any faster or easier than people who get invited for winning a qualifier? That doesn't make any sense to me.

He is totally right though. This tournament is just sad. The average person has to fight against thousands of competitors to get a chance to win 100k at Blizzcon and here somebody just gets 100k thrown at him for winning an event with only 36 players. It is totally understandable and correct to be upset about this. And it has nothing to do with Eggi or me in particular. There are definitely people who achieved more than some of the ones who were invited (look at Thijs, Xixo, Neirea or Theude compared to Noxious, Monk or Kungen).
Let's hope that Rdu will win this. He is the only one who would at least somehow deserve this in a way because he is the most accomplished player but is not allowed to go to Blizzcon because of his country.

Correct I never complain about me myself not being invited.
I know what I have earned and not earned. I earned viewership on twitch tv, but I know I have not earned the right to be in every single invitational ever hosted.
But there are people day in day out, not earning a single fucking dollar playing hearthstone and they are top of ladders/winning small weeklys/show matches and because they cant stream(for whatever reason) cant "make it"
One of my friends and top player Brad(DKMR.Brad) recently quit because he could not earn enough from hearthstone to justify playing it all the time, even though he was a high caliber player(has beaten in the top invitees on atleast once, qualed for blizzcon) because of invitationals like these, he could not pursue hearthstone because of simply its not financially feasible and we will continue to see trends of good unknowns quitting the more we do these invitationals.
Like Ive stated before, online invitationals, cool shit doesnt matter. When you do invites for big LIVE tournaments. Fuck that shit.

I still have no idea why they invite Kungen over so many good and popular streamers? Not to mention the fact that he barely stream any hearthstone nowaday.
|
Did I miss the KitKatz to Tempo Storm announcement? They just keep adding the best Deckbuilders in the game.
|
Monk couldn't deny his destiny any longer.
|
A lot of those names are suprising. I wonder why there are no korean players at all. They showed some good quality play at WEC. Surrender even go into the finals.
I don't want to be harsh espeically to my compatriots like Lothar or Gnimsh but I don't think they are that good right now. Not sure about Kungen,Hafu or Noxious too.
I remember DH Stockholm when some players like Frezzar,Nabutte and others finally came from the top ranks in ladder to some big tournament. I was wondering if they become big hits after it but I don't see them anywhere.
|
So is this monks first time being active in the last forever? Glad to see him back :D Looks a strong line up and im glad there are more and more tournaments involving the American, European and Asian players!
|
Can't blame Monk for being active for a 100k first place pool, I bet anyone would "un-retire" for something this big.
|
Randiun Noxious ? Not quite sure about some of the invites but oh well should be fun.
|
Digmouse on the other TL forum basically says WCA has no idea what they're doing.
