Description : The most frightening monsters are the ones you can't see. Hordes of hidden infested lurk in the shadows, moving inexorably toward the evacuation shuttles. Amon's forces are cloaked as well, and he has deployed an invisible purifier beam against you. Bring detection as well as protection.
Map: Miner Evacuation
Mutations:
We Move Unseen All enemy units are permanently cloaked.
Purifier Beam An enemy Purifier Beam moves across the map toward nearby player units.
Pretty much guessing it'll be a Nova mission. Having the detection on nova with her super strong merc units will probably make this mutation quite simple.
@Tohron: My ally in the first game was a Karax and his forward canons were targeted and eventually killed by the purifier beam. With all mastery points in the healing trait and a decent amount of shield batteries the damage may be to low to kill a structure which means that the purifier can be trapped somewhere save. But I did not test this yet.

does not target expansion. does target structures outside the two bases

yeah just did it as raynor with scan spam plus a nova partner. mission was a piece of cake
easiest way to do it was clear the place where your next ship will take off. then go stand way in the corner to draw the beams far away before you go back in to protect the ship
yep Nova is really strong did it with bio+ghost+ravens bonus too. I tried Alarak as well and it was doable, just a bit hectic with the warpins because the purifiers kept sniping my pylons, I wasnt comfortable trying to get bonus with him but it I dont think it would have been too hard to just mindblast them down.
My partner was Nova, but I found Swann had a lot to offer on this mission too.
Quick Tech to Science Vessels, and then eventually up to Hercs and Siege Tank/Goliath provides the strong defense that you'll need at the Refugee Ships.
Use the Hercs to micro your units away from the Purifier beam.
This is much easier than I thought. I went Vorazun and had a Karax partner. The purifying beam will stay on his buildings for quite a long time before destroying them. I'm not 100% sure but it seems like the DPS for the beam is around 30? With mastery points on buildings and repair beam, Karax's buildings can survive for quite a while.
The purifying beam can stay at your expansion if there are defensive structures in there. It usually wouldn't target your base, as I guess your base has low priority for the purifying beam. Just watch out for attacks on your expansion, since your detection might get destroyed by the purifying beam pretty easily.

Well, if does go into the exp if you put up pylons and other stuff there

Yeah, Karax can "catch" the purifier beams. That is how we did it, me as Artanis cleaning up around the ships and my Karax partners, trapping the beams and helping out with his own purifier beams as it were. Karax also cannoned up around the third ship, so that I could rest my army and rebuild a bit. On the fourth ship I was maxed out and cannoned up myself to sink some minerals.

Around how many cannons and batteries do you need? I tried Karax, but his buildings kept dying to the beam and not stalling long enough. Even with 5-6 batteries, it wasn't enough.
Did it with Nova at first try, with a Stukov ally. Zombies die easily to the beam, being weak and slow, but Stukov's defensive structures helped a lot keeping the bases safe. Overall an easy mutation, even if I did lost a ship due to two beams being on top of me at the same time, making the cleaning process a bit too difficult that time.

I didn't pay attention to that to be honest, except for glancing at the minimap every now and then to see where the beams were. I imagine you have to constantly rebuild stuff to keep the beams happy campers.
I did it as Nova with a Karax partner. For some reason the first half of the map, there was only one beam. Nova with detection and strong units can really defend the ship. The bean wasn't too much of an issue. I try to get the ship that is far away from the beam as possible.

really? i had like some bunkers with missile turret for detect and my nova partner had some of their turrets but it never touched our expansion area buildings. just the turrets that were made out on the map
Does Building Armor work against the beam or does the beam ignore Armor and applies a raw HP degeneration? So does researching Building Armor upgrades (Swann, Raynor, Stukov Bunkers) help with slowing the beam down?

Yeah, it happened when I tried the mutation on hard as Artanis. I think the beam had nothing better to aim for. It went straight through the exp, where I had a pylon on each side so to speak, with some cannons and batteries. I expected the exp to be attacked by invisible hordes, but the only thing popping by (and through) was the purifier beam.
