I have a GA 990 FXA UD3
with a FX 8350,
FX 380 gpu,
16gb corsair vengeance
1000w hx1000
I just put this together with some old parts I had lying around, but I can not for the life of me get audio on this computer! Windows can't automatically find the driver, and I've tried downloading the driver online and off the disk.
What happens is it goes through an install wizard, restarts the computer, but then nothing is different People say after you download the driver there should be an icon in the system tray upon restart, but I have no such icon. They are probably referring to the realtek audio manager, something that you use to assign what ins and outs are in what ports on your motherboard. As mentioned, this should automatically come up on your system tray on reboot.
Some people said it didn't come up in their system tray online, but when going to all control panel items, it would show up. This did not happen. I even have the realtekngui.exe in my realtek folder under program files, that should open your high definition audio manager, but when I click it it refuses to launch. Run as admin, no launch. Compatibility mode, no launch.
Has done this on every install, I can't get the damn audio manager to launch. It never shows up in control panel. I've used the GA 970 with the realtek drivers and it worked perfectly the first time I installed them, I could assign them and everything was great. This doesn't make any sense to me.
Also uninstalled everything including ethernet that was realtek, deleted all my gfx card drivers in case they were overriding, deleted all my high definition audio stuff, set it manually to detect as realtek, then i get the yellow stop sign next to all of my devices, as realtek device. It then states my computer must reboot for the drivers to work. On reboot they are in the previous state, with a code 10 error stating they couldn't start due to lack of driver. WTF?
I've also downloaded it off the disk about 30 times. Uninstall and reinstall
I've downloaded it for AC 97, didn't work. Downloaded for HD audio, didn't work. Downloaded for Azalia audio device, didn't work.
.
It comes up that I have 4 audio devices, even if I've uninstalled everything and restarted the computer, it automatically detects some high definition stuff. This is what my device manager looks like as of this morning http://imgur.com/a/AzkAC
even though I uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled, that's how my computer looks when it comes up.
I can download the drivers, it'll go through a wizard, then restarts my computer and nothing is different.
Thinking of just making a partition on a USB drive that can just clean off my drive and do a fresh windows install. Can't think of anything else to try.
