Luffy sacrificing himself and now we get a top tier fight.
Dunno why you're complaining about a long arc. This isn't as long as Dressrosa and every chapter has had a clear progression towards a resolution. It's not like the characters are sitting around doing nothing. Seems weird to complain about the story being told. Because it feels like excessive padding at this point. The chase should have ended a long time ago yet every time it almost does there's something that extends it. Like they aaaaalmost got away but - nope! It's like the next arc is always 5 chapters away and has been for a long time. Pedro killing himself is cheap drama. I didn't care about the character that much and I don't really think anyone did. Same with carrot, but she'll probably get out alive. I know that none of the main cast is going to die. Luffy might get separated for a while but he's clearly going to reunite with the crew like nothing happened. The fight with Dogtooth is going to be lame because Dogtooth is a shitty antagonist with a stupid power. And it doesn't help that Oda had to basically shove this confrontation in to make the arc seem "epic" when we all know that he's just stalling for time. We've seen all there is to see of Big Mom and her crew and they have completely overstayed their welcome in the story. The sense of excitement is just gone.
What exactly is Oda stalling for?

I guess people will always complain and it's impossible to always make everybody happy

katakuri is like the akainu of big mom's crew, he's literally doing everything
what a top tier character

do people really think Pedro is dead?

Oda should settle for Pedro being dead. He let the Straw Hats escape, he took Peros' right arm and he lost so much of his life span to Big Mom that he's close to dying anyway.
Would be nice if Oda went through with it for once.

Pedro sacrificing himself makes a lot of sense from his perspective. Hopefully he stays dead.

did Pell have a flashback? with the flashback at the start of the chapter, for me Pedro was 100% dead

I hope we get an explanation about Katakuris DF. Its a paramecia that possess logia characteristics. I wonder if it has something to do with awakening.

I hope that Pedro really did bite the dust. Good character but to see Luffy actually accept someone's self-sacrifice for the sake of the crew is chilling and takes One Piece to the next level (which I thought wouldn't be possible). I wonder if Pedro truly died though.
Luffy being separated from the crew and taking on dogtooth 1v1 is also amazing.
This chapter was insane.

luffy vs nemesis luffy

Decent way for Luffy to gain inspiration for the development of new moves.

Ok I may have been a bit harsh. I personally think that Oda is stalling until Reverie and trying to make this arc longer than it needs to be. It feels like the climax already happened (the assassination, Germa resolution, cake explosion) and this is just a very long falling action. There was not enough build-up for any of the new villains for them to be perceived as a credible threat besides Big Mom. Dogtooth feels like a sideshow compared to her - a fight at the end of the arc because there just has to be a fight at the end of the arc. Now they're going to defeat Big Mom by throwing a cake at her? That's just disappointing.
A better example of what could have been done would have been the Impel down arc. If you think about it, the Luffy and his allies were in the same exact scenario, except they were running from Magellan. They didn't defeat Magellan by making a poison cake for him. It was a fighting retreat and had just enough build up and just enough payoff and the final battle wasn't Luffy vs Hannybal, it was Luffy and friends vs. Magellan.

So I was rewatching One Piece and I'm at the Skypiea arc. Comparing it to this current arc I just had a few thoughts
Enel can jumpstart his own heart any time he is "killed" so he can basically outlast anyone in a match of stamina Robin even comments that his devil fruit comes with immortality so I can see the relation Enel's range is an entire island. Zeus? just stuff near Big Mom Enel's lightning straight up kills people on the reg. Zeus? didnt do shit Nami was terrified of Enel. She is not scared of the straw hats at all who combined have over a 1 billion berry bounty This means Enel's power level is likely many times greater than all the current straw hats combined this would put him on a level much greater than Big Mom + Kaido in all likelihood Enel was smart enough to make a molten gold attack mid fight against Luffy. This means he probably has one of the highest fighting IQs in the manga If you told Enel that the one piece was a bunch of dirt he would find it in like 3 hours

Enel barbequed Usopp like 2 or 3 times within a matter of hours, and Usopp was still trucking at the end. Does this mean that Usopp is the single most durable character in existence?

Oh no don't you start that shit Shellshock. I've got Enel PTSD.
|
So is it safe to say Usopp>Enel>Everyone else>that one weak monk no one cares about?
|
That's because Enel didn't use all his voltage on Usopp. And we all know Enel only got punched by luffy vecause he wanted. He didn't kill Luffy because he didn't feel like it, and just tossed him into some hole. Even with luffy being imune to his DF Enel still toyed with. Enel is clearly the strongest in OP
