The President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act mandates that all JFK assassination records must be fully declassified by 26 October, 2017.
While incomplete, the documents were a treasure trove for investigators, historians and conspiracy theorists who have spent half a century searching for clues to what really happened in Dallas on that fateful day in 1963. They included tantalizing talk of mobsters and Cubans and spies, Kremlin suspicions that Lyndon B. Johnson was behind the killing, and fear among the authorities that the public would not accept the official version of events.
Paging through the documents online on Thursday night was a little like exploring a box of random papers found in an attic. There were fuzzy images of C.I.A. surveillance photos from the early 1960s; a log from December 1963 of visitors, including a C.I.A. officer, to Johnson’s ranch in Texas; and reports that Lee Harvey Oswald obtained ammunition from a right-wing militia group.
Some of the documents convey some of the drama and chaos of the days immediately after the murder of the president. Among them is a memo apparently dictated by J. Edgar Hoover, the F.B.I. director, on Nov. 24, 1963, shortly after Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald as he was being moved from Police Headquarters to a local jail.
“There is nothing further on the Oswald case except that he is dead,” the memo begins laconically, before reciting the day’s events.
for a better understanding of how much the JFK assassination has been over analyzed for decades... this is 1 of the funniest scenes in the history of the Seinfeld sit-com
I remember a documentary I watched when I was younger, it said he might have been killed over the Federal Reserve, or because he didn't want to go through with Operation Northwood. So they had an excuse to go fuck up Cuba. You know, that sounds familiar.
Of course there's been so much talked about over this that I'm not sure what is true and what isn't.
Jack Leon Ruby (born Jacob Leon Rubenstein; March 25, 1911[1] – January 3, 1967) was a Dallas, Texas nightclub owner who fatally shot Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963, while Oswald was in police custody after being charged with assassinating U.S. President John F. Kennedy two days earlier. A Dallas jury found him guilty of murdering Oswald and he was sentenced to death. Ruby's conviction was later appealed and he was granted a new trial. However, on January 3, 1967, as the date for his new trial was being set,[2] Ruby became ill in his prison cell and died of a pulmonary embolism from lung cancer.[3][4]
as the poster above me states .. there is so much written and said about this i don't know what is true and what is not true.
I was always interested in the case of Dorothy Kilgallen, a well known investigative journalist at the time (Had her column in over 200 newspapers). She was the only person who had interviewed Jack Ruby, twice I believe. Warning: a lot of unproven information ahead, most from some books written on her.
She was highly influential, and was friendly with JFK and upper-class New York society (For example she had a friendship and feud with Frank Sinatra). She was a daily panelist on the hit TV show at the time "What's my Line", and was known for her celebrity-attended parties. She was on the show live, hours before her death. Be aware there is tons of hearsay when this is discussed, but it is still fascinating.
She went full force into the JFK investigation, not believing Oswald acted alone, publicly stating that in her column. She allegedly carried a file around with her at all times, and told her close friend she was "going to release the largest story of the century, and blow the entire JFK case sky-high". Eventually she expressed fear for her life to her closest friends, became more paranoid and had bought a gun, which was out of her character. When in New Orleans investigating a contact, she had apparently told her assistant to go back to NYC and tell no one, in a frantic panic.
She was soon to submit her findings, but in 1965 she was found dead after having an affair with a much younger man who came out of nowhere. Her files were missing, and she was found by her hairdresser in a bedroom she never slept in, with clothes she would never wear to bed, reading a book she had finished and disliked, wearing glasses when she didn't need them for reading. Her case was closed as barbiturates and alcohol. NYC actually reopened an investigation into her death in 2016 due to a book published recently, but closed it in September this year with no evidence of foul play.
I looked up her name out of curiosity, and there appears to be an entire file named "DOROTHY KILGALLEN", by Richard Nixon, it appears to still be classified for reasons of national security. Another file says "she has no idea how Dorothy Kilgallen got a copy of the deposition."
Probably something else entirely. It's crazy how the first thing most conspiracy theorist come up with, is the whole "second" shooter spiel. I mean, I personally don't know enough to say if there was or wasn't, but some people, they take it at full force.
My dad worked really high up positions in the federal government after coming back from Vietnam, and that guy has no online records anywhere (I also haven't heard from him in almost 10 years). He used to tell me a ton of fucked up shit that would go on with out the public even knowing.

JFK conspiracies are the only ones I've ever thought were full on legit.
It's also telling that the US government was ready to sponsor state terrorism in and outside the US in order to attempt to kill Castro. Also the that the Soviet Union appears to have panicked thinking a coup had occurred.

Even so there has been some great stuff coming out of the documents, have been following it loosely on reddit r/conspiracy which is a better place to go.

US Government spent years trying to take out Castro. That was known and there's some very easy to understand reasons.
As to the files, the last set (which probably shows up next week sometime) should be interesting. The stuff to come out of the first batch has at least clarified a few things. Hoover's statements about the locals making a mess of the situation and that they'd never be able to prove Oswald was the shooter in a trial was quite insightful.
But with all government investigations, it's always important to remember the point of the investigation is to sell a narrative that, as its primary function, the government isn't at fault. Oswald working for a foreign government never really seemed to be much of a focus for the US Government in all of this, which is telling on its own.
I'm in the camp that Oswald was the shooter, but he did have "help". However, how much that "help" actually knew what he was up to is a question that probably can't be answered. There's definitely interesting ties to New Orleans, both communist activists and local mafia, which ties you back into CIA & FBI activities within the USA.
There's always been the possibility for a puppet master to have pulled off the hit, but that required only 1 other person to actually know what Oswald was up to. And they're likely dead already.

i think there was a 2nd shooter and anything beyond that is unprovable now.
Ruby was in custody right after killing Oswald and was never a free man from the minute he shot Oswald. Someone prolly made a deal with Ruby to kill Oswald and whoever made that promise/deal never came through for Ruby.
i can't see Ruby agreeing to something like "ya man.. shoot oswald for us and your reward is you get to live in jail until you die"
After reading some of the released docs, it seems like a big yawn-fest. The only thing remotely interesting to me is that some docs seem to cut off or be redacted when they start to mention Oswald-CIA connections. Meh. I'm not convinced of anything. I really expected more to be honest.

You're talking about documents from the 60's. This isn't going to be something in the present where you get to zoom in 10000x to get the reflection of the shooter off a screw from the license plate.
I have found some spectacular evidence saying that LBJ and his associates were involved in the assassination of JFK. I have found a few books and many websites to back up my information on. It has fingerprint proof as well in some of the books. As well as some video interviews. If you want to see my evidence just reply.
