1 - What is it?
SC2Reminder is a tool to help you learn solid macro. You simply check what you want to be reminded of - and this tool reminds you. It's like your grandma, sitting next to you, reading out loud a list you gave her and repeats it during the whole match.
2 - The Interface
2.1 - Choose your reminders
All Races
- Upgrades
- Overmins
- Workerproduction
- Scouting
- Minimap
- Supplyblock
Zerg
Terran
Protoss
2.2 - Adjust your needs
General
- Between sets the delay between your reminders
- Loop sets the delay between your reminder circles
Clock
- Always - the time will always be visible in the top left corner of your screen.
- Ingame - the time will only ingame when you're in a match or a replay.
- Off - the time won't show at all.
Visual Intro
- Minimal - a simple, minimalistic player introduction
- Platinum - took quite long to make - hope you like it!
- Off - the visual player introduction won't show at all.
Reminder
- OSD - your reminds will be shown via text in an on screen display (OSD)
- Voice - your reminds will be spoken from a female voice (engl.)
OSD
- Duration - how long your OSD is shown in ms.
- Alpha - the transparency of your OSD (255 = 100%; 0 = 0%)
- X-Pos & Y-Pos - the positioning of your OSD
Font - Choose the font, style & size of your OSD Color - Choose the color of your OSD Suggested pause - Decide either to take a break after a match or not. Voice speed - Adjust the voice speed to your needs.
2.3 - Advanced mode
You guys asked for better customization of the between times. Now you can, with the new advanced mode. But it's still experimental.
Why it's experimental? + Show Spoiler +Known issue with the advanced mode If you overload the reminders hardly, so it's not enough to remind once per second in the long turn, it stacks the reminds after a while.
Solution for now Don't use all reminders at once. Max 1 remind / second for proper work. If you get the stack issue: use less reminders!
Example1 Overmins(5s); Minimap(5s); Supplyblock(5s); Scouting(20s); Larvainject(11s); Creepspread(15s) → no stacking. In the long term, it's less than once per second. Works well!
Example2 Overmins(3s); Minimap(3s); Supplyblock(3s); Scouting(20s); Larvainject(11s); Creepspread(15s) → stacking. In the long term, it's more than once per second. Doesn't work well!
2.4 - Miscellaneous
Statusbar
- The line color shows the current status of SC2 (not started, ingame, replay, etc.)
- Total - the amount of matches you played using SC2Reminder
- Sessiontime - the time you spend ingame this session
- Matchtime - the time of the current match
- Session - the amount of matches you played the current session
- Buttons to mail the support, jump to this thread and one to support me
3 - Playerintroduction
Minimal:
Platinum:
In 1v1 matches you will have a playerintroduction which will show you the matchup with player names and player races. It disappears after a few seconds or when you click on it. Aswell this will be read out loud if you activated the voice in settings.
4 - Questions & Answers
Q: Is this tool legal or can I get banned using this? + Show Spoiler +A: No worries, SC2Reminder is totally legal. It doesn't react to your game, it only reminds what you say you need to be reminded of in a period you set up. It doesn't put you in a better spot for the moment, but can help you in the long term, using it to learn solid macro.
Q: Windows Defender alerts me - IS THIS A VIRUS? + Show Spoiler +A: No worries, SC2Reminder is NOT a virus. This alert pops up, because of a missing "trusted-developer-license", which would cost me way too much money to make it viable at the moment. Feel free to check it on virusttotal.com or any other trusted software check tool.
Q: Does it save my settings and stuff? + Show Spoiler +
Q: Updates? I hate clicking on this thread all the time to check. + Show Spoiler +A: SC2Reminder will automatically alert you when a new version is out there and refer you to the download link. You don't need to check this thread for any updates.
Q: Why is it so small and why there is no installer? + Show Spoiler +A: This is a small tool, it's transportable and doesn't need to be installed. Your saved settings will be there, even after changing your system. It's made for fast, simple use.
Q: Can I suggest my own graphic for a new player introduction background? + Show Spoiler +A: Sure! Give it a try, if I like it, I would add it with the next update. The size is 848 x 96 px.
Q: Does this work on ladder? + Show Spoiler +A: Sure! Ranked, Unranked, VS A.I. - that doesn't matter.

This is amazing. Thank you very very much. I'm very enthusiastic about getting back into Starcraft 2 and this is exactly what I need to bring my skills back up. Is there any plan to add APM alerts similar to old SC2Gears/Scelight?

Nice! Glad you like it, thanks for your feedback

This could be complicated, there's a reason it doesn't work in scelight anymore ^^' If I remember correctly, this data was stored in the registry. A big SC2 patch changed that, so it's neither readable via api, nor via the registry file. - correct me if I'm wrong Theroetically it could be possable by reading running actions and the right algorhytm. But honestly, if you use SC2Reminder correctly, you don't need an APM-Alert, your EPM will be high by itself.
Greetings from Germany, David
I might release version 1.0.4 soon. There'll be an option to change the visual player introduction style or turn it completely off
is there anything else you want to see in a coming update?

cant download it. can you upload a ziped file?

Are different voices feasible? Or funny/ironic Day9 soundbites for supplyblock, minerals, etc.

That's a nice idea! But don't they get boring if people hear it the 2.000th time? You don't want like 100 different phrases / sentences for a supplyblock, don't you? :D

I think you're on to something here. So what I'm thinking is to use a library of sound files for each reminder that plays at random to include day9s bw overlord impersonation for supplyblock.

That would be a ton of work and time to invest. If hundreds of people would use this tool and it would donate for the effort, it would be a different story. But with maybe 5 users, maybe 2 of them use it steady - I see no way for me to make it feel worth the effort.
If some well known streamer would use it for the player introduction - I think that's pretty cool and hopefully a unique thing - and spread it to interested viewers, that would be a first step into more skins, more features, etc.

That's okay my dude. I appreciate everything you've done with this so far. I use it and I encourage my friends to use it who are just getting into starcraft. Admittedly a small user base. Thank you again.

Version 1.1.2 is released.
Some major changes

- Minimum between time set to 1 second
- The suggested pause can be turned off now
- Adjust the voice speed to your needs - regular, fast, very fast or insane
- A few smaller changes

Thank you for update. Looking forward to playing with settings.

Heya - I gave your software a try, I was looking for something to practice my injects. But... as it is, there's a few issues. Or maybe I'm doing things wrong.
- First - your software starts with a 3 seconds delay. For someone who would use it for worker production for example; that's a BIG discrepancy.
-Also, your software is not in sync with the in-game time, it is slower. At the start of the game, your soft says 4s - in game is 8s (that's the delay I mentioned before). But after 5 minutes, the discrepancy is 8 secondes, not 4s

http://tof.cx/images/2018/02/11/ad4d1230dd32ea2aa84ccb6dffe78a8d.png
That's a pretty big difference.
- For the big thing: For the inject timing: first, injects are every 29 seconds, not 11 seconds :-) That's okay, we can change that with the advanced mode, but maybe you'll want to change it by default.. The issue is, it starts counting at the start of the game, witch makes absolutely no sense, since the reminder won't ever be in-synch with when you actually have to inject. Rendering the software, well, not that useful for practicing :-) One "simple" fix would be to allow us to set a fixed time before the first reminder starts. For example, my queen pops out at .the 2m47 mark - if I could tell the soft to start the first reminder 247 seconds into the game and then reminds me every 29 seconds, that would be perfect. Same goes for MULEs drops, a Terran could enter when his first Orbital finishes to synch the MULE drops timer.
-Finally, I don't know if it's a bug or I did something wrong, when trying the software, sometimes it would say "Inject Larva", other games it would say just "Inject", another time it was saying "Inject" twice in a row, and another time it was saying "Inject" twice in a row and then "Inject Larva". Pretty confusing :-)
I'm sorry if this post sounds harsh - keep up the good work, there's a lot of potential in your software!

Hey haik, thanks for your awesome feedback & bugreport! I wished this came a bit earlier in the beta state :'D.
That's a big deal indeed. I just started coding after I read your comment. I'm glad to call it "fixed" !
Changed the method from stopping the time manually to grabbing it from the api, seems to work !

Thought about this aswell, now that I'm not alone with that, I'll work on it. UPDATE: in testing phase!

That's the "stacking-issue". The voice can max say one command per second. If it's more to say, it stacks. If it's able to unstack after a few seconds due reminderpauses, it solves itself. But if it keeps stacking, it's acting crazy :I That'll be a bigger chapter to work on. If you want to circumvent that issue, check out the two examples in the first post. Write, if you want to be a betatester - would be nice.
UPDATE:
I've upped the 1.1.3-beta → feel free to test it ♥ Have a nice day, David

Glad you could fixed it, awesome job! Yeah, sorry I didn't saw this thread before, so I was late to the party. I will test the new version this evening :-)
