Don't think my body composition has varied hardly any over the past few years lol. Got down to a pretty lean 220ish @ 11-12% earlier this year tho.
2017 lowlights: -Fucked my back 3 times, including presently (have barely lifted for the past couple months, just volume/strength/rehab/isolateral work atm). -Bombed out of nationals -Still haven't improved my comp total since 2014, and didn't PR my snatch or squats.
2017 highlights: -Went from barely totaling 240kg post injury and considering quitting weightlifting, to totaling 305 to qualify for nationals in about 4 months. -PR training CJ of 171kg after close to 3.5 years of stagnation. -Got my snatch back up to 138kg which is 4kg off my best. -Hit some random squat PRs like 3x171kg FS and 7x182 BS and close attempts of 5x200 and 4x205 -Learned a lot about lifting. Doing lots more coaching and love watching my lifters progress. -Probably the only person on the planet to compete in rugby national playoffs and weightlifting national championships in back to back weeks.
Hope this year's a bit healthier. And I'm gonna take down that 143kg snatch or die trying.

what did u learn about injury to help prevent it in the future if possible?
|
Just been learning a lot about anatomy and ways to fix imbalances and deficiencies. Most injuries can be fixed by keeping joints (shoulders, hips, ankles) and core healthy and strong. The best way to prevent future injury would to be stop playing rugby xD
Unrelated, smashed a 120kg snatch from the blocks yesterday. Heaviest I've gone in ~4 months and it felt great. Have been doing relatively little volume in the sn/cj, just lots of strength/rehab/technique work.

Left Erector has seemed a little tweaked since I did the 275lb pulls, felt fine during the lift but I think I did something to it. It's like 98% not noticable, but just enough to make me not want to pull heavy today, so I did 3x5 with 40% or so just for speed and technique.
Really good set of weighted pull ups too, 3x6 w/50lbs, and under faster rest than usual at just 90s. Surprised myself there.
Bench has gone to shit though. I got 2x5 at 195 two weeks or so ago, but on Friday struggled to even double 200, after some poor repeat attempts at 2x5 at 195 last week. Went back to 3x3 at 190 on Monday and that went up fine, but not as well as I would have expected. It's especially odd, because my close grip has been skyrocketing...Monday's 3x3 went up quite easily at 180, and I'm even doing those paused.

Did 14 min of: 1 Squat Clean and Jerk 225 pounds, every :30. Total, 28 reps. #Crossfit
Anyone here has access to a "wreck bag"? Any size.

Say squat clean again. I dare you.

What is that supposed to mean, squat stance on the jerk instead of split?

On January 12 2018 22:21 mordek wrote: What is that supposed to mean, squat stance on the jerk instead of split? Crossfitters call the full version of the lift a “squat”. Example squat snatch/squat clean to distinguish from the power version (and the muscle version I guess but most crossfitters won’t be doing those) Different sport different terminology.
It actually has meaning on the jerk (squat vs split) but I’ve never seen a crossfitters squat jerk so I wouldn’t know how they refer to that difference.

Ah ok, removes any confusion if you're referring to a power clean or normal clean without calling it "normal clean". Thanks!
decaf can continue in his righteous indignation now.

Someone's gotta stop those Crossfitters from basterdizing our sport! Lol but really it's super redundant, the word clean already implies a full squat. It mostly stems from the fact that Crossfitters are bad at lifting so given the option they will power clean everything so they have to be instructed on when to squat.

Well the terminology has a function in metcons. When the prescribed work is 10 Cleans 102kg, it means you are free to do it any way you choose. Power or Squat Cleans ads the limitation of using either style as mandatory. For doing reps, "power" fatigue you less and take less time, so the "squat" command is usually added.

Powers do not fatigue you less, unless you have inefficient movement patterns.
10 cleans is 10 cleans 10 power cleans is 10 power cleans 10 ground to shoulder is do w/e the fuck you want

With submaximal weights, for reps, it does. The time it takes to do 30 cleans vs 30 power cleans with same weight is very noticeable. Feel free to try it.

Somehow I always forget how sore you get after not snatching or cleaning for a while. Man.

My backne has massively receded in the last 3-4 months (had it for over 5 years at different levels)
Submerging yourself in chlorine for over an hour, thrice a week, seems to have finally cleaned my skin lol. (Been swimming regularly now)

20x 131kg/288lb back squat PR.
RIP my legs

That's an impressive widowmaker set.
