The reprise of a community event for players from around Minnesota; a one day BYOC-lite* SC2 tournament at my house! My goal for this is to get players from Minnesota (and maybe surrounding states?) to be able to hang out, enjoy some StarCraft, and get to know one another a little bit. Whether you’re WCS Challenger tier or just a casual fan, please consider coming out and joining in!
When:Saturday, May 19 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Where: My house (west Minneapolis metro, address will be sent to attendees in PM) Entry: Free Prize pool: $500 (50/30/12.5/7.5% spread) Format: Group play or double-elim, depends on number of attendees Stream: Scythe.Toast will be joining us, so the stream will be twitch.tv/dankshrine
Food and Drinks Similar to last year, I'll try to provide at least one meal for everyone, and also a fair amount of stuff to graze on throughout the day. This time will probably be handmade pizza, and Toast hinted at bringing another batch of his kimchi-spiced shredded chicken for sandwiches/tacos. We'll have a variety of drinks available, but be sure to BYOB if there's something you'd really prefer. There are also a number of food stops around my neighborhood that we could hit up if needed.
Side Events I want to try a couple of side events this time, aside from just the 1v1 tournament. I was thinking of doing some sort of king of the hill or HORSE (like the basketball game) style challenge throughout the day for co-op mutator missions, where teams have to try and one-up each other by completing increasingly difficult custom mutations. Additionally, if there's interest, I'd be happy to run a 2v2 or Brood War mini-event after the main event wraps up.
Lodging If you do happen to be coming from out of state, please let me know as soon as possible! I can work with you to try and figure out lodging. Either through nearby Airbnbs or potentially getting a hand with housing from some of the Minnesota folks.
If you want to check out the VoD from last event, you can find it here: .
*What is this “BYOC-lite”? Basically, we’ll need enough PCs for people to play their tournament matches on, so if we can get a few volunteers to let us use their setups communally I would be eternally grateful. I do have two extra PCs that are SC2-capable, but the more, the merrier.
How to signup? In this TL thread, please fill out the following information. Name: Alias: Can you volunteer a communal PC? (yes/no): Any interest in side-events? (2v2, FFA, etc):
After signing up, I'll be sending everyone my address a few days before the weekend of the event, so make sure to keep an eye on your TL private messages. As it's my private residence, I'd prefer that it remain at least a little bit private.
P.S. I promise we won't have a 12-hour tournament again! Definitely learned from our mistakes of choosing to cast every game.
Name: Brady Cassada Alias: Rengen Can you volunteer a communal PC? (yes/no): Yes Any interest in side-events? (2v2, FFA, etc): Not particularly but down to play if other people decide on something.
Name: Spencer Krum Alias: nibalizer Can you volunteer a communal PC? (yes/no): Yes Any interest in side-events? (2v2, FFA, etc): Yes I'm interested in 2v2, FFA, and Broodwar

Well, it's always a little tough to get people to commit, as always . But, so far I'd say at least roughly 5-6 people, with 3 or 4 guys from Wisconsin that I haven't heard a hard commitment on, but can usually depend on showing up to stuff (shoutouts to VampyWorm).
Last year we end up with an even dozen, so I think if I can wrangle up the troops we should be able to hit that again, would be a great time.
Name: David Japuntich Alias: HyperTurtle#1732 Can you volunteer a communal PC? No Any interest in side-events? Primarily interested in side events like casual games on SCR and SC2 Blizzard maps
I won't be able to play, but I just wanted to say this is awesome to have this here in Minneapolis! And I would love to stop by to watch for a while if my schedule allows if that's cool?

Yeah, that's fine by me! I'll be sending out attendee details (address, etc) through PM in a few days.
