I think Forsaken will make Destiny 2 the type of game everyone will love, but I already enjoy it a lot with the content that's currently in it. I have 60 hours in the game and it feels like it's flown by.

if it turns out you like Destiny2... if you are a careful bargain hunter you can get the 1st year of content for $32 USD. this $32 USD Cinderella turns into a pumpkin September 4th when "Forsaken" is released.

What buying options are there? Will the discounted 38€ "base game + expansion pass" bundle give me access to all the content available? (I would assume so)

Given that I don't really intend to play organized coop at the start (don't have any friends who play this). I would mainly start playing solo + casual on-the-fly coop-ing if it's possible. (I would assume so) Depending on whether you like the game enough to want to fully invest! I'd say if you really like it, get the full year 1 so you can have a headstart in September. If you are still on the fence I'd say wait till September for the $60 bundle that includes everything year 1 and the Forsaken expansion.

I read something about an Annual pass too. Expansion, Expansion pass, Annual pass, this is quite confusing. But I guess for now I don't need all this.

https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/destiny2-expansion-pass?p=30825 will give you the complete game experience until September 4th. On September 4th you'll need to own "Foresaken" to get the complete game experience. This is "Foresaken" https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/product/destiny2-forsaken later in the winter of 2018 and throughout 2019 Bungie will release additional content and in order to remain up to date you'll need to purchase the "Annual Pass" to continue experiencing the full game. The Bungie base game has been on sale at Best Buy and GameStop/EB-Games in Canada and the US for $10 USD. The Expansion Pass i linked at the top of my post has been on sale for $20 USD at Humble Bundle. I'm confident both the orginial September 2017 base game and the Expansion Pass will have crazy low sale prices leading up to September 4. I was able to get the full 1st year of content for $32 USD. I'm pretty sure most North Americans that are careful bargain hunters will be able to do the same thing i did throughout July and August this summer. I'm not sure how good the deals are for the European version of the game though. sry man

I might just wait for either the all-inclusive bundle with Forsaken then. Or crazy cheap deals for the first wave of content that you talked about, but in Europe it does seem a bit more expensive (not a huge problem, I just want to "minimize" my cost within my own parameters ).

It's insane how much money the Destiny community puts into GuardianCon charities. Not to make it a competition, but one game's community is the equivalent of an entire SGDQ event.3

https://www.gameinformer.com/forsaken i found the July 11th article to be the most fascinating... https://www.gameinformer.com/exclusive-video/2018/07/11/how-destiny-2-forsakens-outlaws-breathe-new-life-into-its-worlds i hope the new "end game progression mechanics" they introduce end up creating the the overall vision Bungie has for the game they discuss in the July 11 article. i don't know if i'm using the term "end game progression mechanics" properly. if there is a better term for it... feel free to correct it.

Milestones are going to be on a 4 day reset so there will be more opportunity to level up power. Although I can see them tuning down the impact a bit (poweful items netting smaller bumps) especially in the later stages. The return of random rolls will provide the "horizontal progression" the game has been lacking in year 1.

Bungie is pumping out 5000 megatonnes of info so boiling it down to essentials helps.
