I've tried the MX518 and G5 which is pretty much the same thing but one less button the on side. My personal preference is that it can move left and right really fast without tripping out on its self. Although i have big hands, i find it really hard to micro with such a big mouse... Sorry for repeating it then. I couldn't find any. Where they focusing on low price? Anyway, if it matters, my hand is as long from wrist to middle finger as a G5, and a little bit wider discounting fingers.

For a bigger mouse, razers are totally awesome. I have a mini op and deathadder, but prefer the mini op for sc because it fits my small hands well

And about the hand size/mouse thing, I have a 23 cms hand from the palm up to the top of the middle finger, and I use a Gm-03003 Genius (Mini Optical mouse) of 8.5 cms from tail to head... so... comfort > "quality" imho. And BTW, right now I think that it´s better to spend 40 bucks in a great mouse pad instead of a mouse... these things can improve your game greatly (and fix the imprecisions/sliding speed of the mouse btw, awesome thing).

Weird, its only 800 dpi. Does that not matter in gaming? Here are some size comparisons. + Show Spoiler + • Windows® 98, 2000, Me, XP • USB port or PS/2 port Macintosh PC • Mac OS® 10.1.2 or greater • USB port Technical Specifications • Tracking Resolution: 800 dpi • Image Processing: 5.8 megapixels/second • Max. Acceleration: 15 G • Max. Speed: 40 inches/second (depending on surface) • USB Data Format: 12 bits/axis • USB Report Rate: 125 reports/second • Sleep Mode: Disabled • Weight without cord: 80 grams Gaming Specifications * • Dynamic Coefficient of Friction —μ (k): 0.13 • Static Coefficient of Friction —μ (s): 0.23 • Buttons: rated to 3 million clicks • Feet: rated to 250 kilometers * Measured on a wood-veneer surface Package Contents • Logitech® G1 Optical Mouse • Installation guide • USB-to-PS/2 adapter • Three-year warranty PS- I know when Laser mouse (not to be confused with optical infrared mice) first came out they were said to be not as good for gaming (aside from the weight and other things). Has the tech advanced enough to the point where laser are better than opti now or will it ever?

Maybe, but so far the surfaces I've been using have been very matte, so accuracy while moving has been a minor problem. The main issue is really how easy it is to press buttons and to double-click. The mighty mouse is rather hard to press more than 3 times a second without feeling a little sore.

Personally, I use the Logitech MX518. At first it did feel a little bit big, but you quickly get used to it, and I would recommend it.

If I've understood correctly this is important mainly in FPS, where you want to move quickly both at big scales, like turning around super fast, but still want the accuracy to snipe out things at few pixels resolutions. RTS is mouse movement on roughly the same scale all the time, from movement across the screen, to targeting single units. Not as wide range as in FPS. So honestly I think most mice are so good that it doesnt matter for SC in pure technical capabilities, and that you should choose mainly from weight, shape and reliability. And price. again: im not an expert in this, and im just guessing around.

personally, I use a g5. Youu should just try out as many mice as you can get your hands on, and use whichever mouse that you feel comfortable with
