http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/civilization-v-announced-for-autumn SC II and Civ V in the same year...I guess the gaming industry REALLY wants me to fail out of college. Looks like we get actual ARMIES now and there are also more diplomatic options. I just got Civ IV last year and I can't imagine what Civ V is going to do to me, let alone with SC II. Release date is expected to be Fall of this year. Updates: Gameplay WalkthroughVIDEO
Wish it would be out by summer. Its the only time I have to play 5 hour games. Still awesome tho :O
The hex-grid reminds me of Settlers of Catan haha. Man, this is going to kill hundreds of hours for me.
And all the tiles look like Catan as well. Weeeeirrd. Should be another time destroyer
Kinda hope it's gonna be out before SC2, if not, then it might be some time before I'll get my hands on this new civ.On February 19 2010 02:51 Jyvblamo wrote: The hex-grid reminds me of Settlers of Catan haha.
Now you mention it, yeah, looks a lot like that
So excited when I saw this on Kotaku. All but guaranteed preorder from me.
YEAH! I installed civ II and III yesterday to remember the old times :D
I thing that turned me off civ 4 was the border regions be uncontrollable unless you keep huge armies all over all of your borders. I would get ppl coming over mountains all the time invading my mines and stuff was really annoying and made me bored to fast.
this makes me so wanna play civ 4 now.
Hex eh, seriously, it makes me think Catan too. Especially since the tiles just somehow look similar to Catan.
I really really hope the Diplomacy system has been revamped.
screenshots look nice but I kinda like the old tiles better
This hypes me more than SC2.
I hope they redo the unit system, I think the way combat works out right now with a series of one on one confrontations is a bit dated.
OMG so excited :D I love the civ games.
This is awesome. Hope they addressed the SoD and the late game total boredom issues.
Yay I love hex grids. HOMM anyone? When they switched to square tiles it was really stupid...

To me it just looks like 'show single unit' option turned off (which I always have 'on' in C4) and changing squares into hexagons. I just wish it's going to run perfectly on Linux, just like C4 does.
Yeah apparently stacks will not be possible in Civ V.
