It would also seem to be a memory issue (my friend who has similar specs but 2x the RAM experiences different types of lag - which might be due to his CPU, which is a little worse than mine). Oh the game also notifies me (top left corner, you might have missed this) that I am "slowing down the game" and I should "lower my graphics settings". Well, if I could, I surely would

When latency is forced into a game, it reduces the chances that lagspikes occur because your computer has more time to "catch up" to the server. In Wc3, if I remember correctly, the native latency is 200 ms. (or was it 250?) If the native latency was 0ms, you would never experience delay but as soon as there is any kind of traffic clogging up between your computer and a server halfway across the planet, you would get a pretty nasty spike. Edit: @ OP, I think your best bet would be to check with Blizzard tech support, they are usualy very helpful.

Check this topic, a lot of people expierence the same, including me. Most of the time this freeze does occur when new unit is built or upgrade is done. And even though my PC specs are hovering around minimum requirements, my FPS is about 50-60 and drops down to 15-20 during bigger engagements. The point is that this freeze sometimes occurs even if I have 8 workers only. Also, people with better specs are expierencing same issue as well, so it MUST be non-HW related.

After the short stops the game quickly catches up and this just repeats throughout the whole game until it either ends or i end up dropping. My internet is good, nobody else is using it, i have no background programs running and when i ping any other server from any other game i get normal ping, any suggestions? Im from australia also and get exactly what you are talking about its nearly unplayable! I win on pure build orders and microing is impossible. I will attack, game will pause for 3 seconds and in that 3 seconds the game is continued to be played by the other player, but not for me.... in that 3 seconds my whole army is dead. game will unpause and i curse for the next 5 mins lol

Video lag: Your FPS drops and the animations suck. Network lag: The game stops completly and then fast forwards to where it SHOULD be. The best (or worse) game for that was Diablo 2. If anyone remembers. OR it stops every few seconds OR you get the message "waiting for other players'' with a timeout limit.

Not saying you're wrong but where did you get that info from? Test it yourself somehow? @OP Try this and see if you are getting packetloss: http://www.pingtest.net

I think it might have something to do with distance from a good server. I'm living in the US (East Coast) and its not TOO bad. But I'm sure if 2 people sitting next to a server would have a pretty reliable 1v1.

there are two exits out of australia to get to america. The one from sydney goes directly to america, while out of perth goes up through europe. correct me if im alittle off please. that is the basic jist. my basic latency to america is about 280 or so (in HoN) and i dont lag much except for a few rare spikes. The change defualt latency to 125 would make it almost impossible for you to play. as soon as you have any lost packets you WILL lag. you can only get that sort of latency within australia, maybe. australian internet is SO far behind europe, american and the majorty or asia. only option is to play on the asia servers, i would think.
