Hello, everyone.
I am currently living in the USA, but I would like to buy the Korean version of SC2 to play on the Korean server. I've done quite a bit of googling on the topic, but I seem stuck so long as I do not have an i-Pin or a Korean SSN.
Any help is much appreciated

^ I wouldn't mind having a go at Korean servers, although I know it won't be a fun experience. I'm sure a few Korean users will know of a website that imports electronics and games.

Me: Artosis, to play on the Korean server do we need to get a korean to let us use their SSN Basically?
Artosis: yes and cell phone etc. its basically impossible
Just asked Artosis on MSN

http://kr.battle.net/sc2/ko/ This is the Korean sc2 site I think. If you were to make a bnet account here and then buy the game digitally I would imagine it would be the Korean version. Might have to do some translating my friend. I have done all I can do the rest you must do alone, great hero. Good luck on your quest!
If this helps at all make a guide on TL how to get it to help others.

Can't you buy a chinese account and still be on the asian server? Or taiwan or whatever it is?

Unfortunately, Korea seems to have its own server

Hmm...it was my understanding that so long as you did the digital download and set your Language/region to whatever country, you would be on that country's server. Blizzard even gives you a popup notifying you of this when you download the game

Find a Korean friend and ask him to get a copy for you :-p
|
you need ID from korea to get a korean bnet account. You can change your region and be able to download the KR client, however to get an account you will definitely need the ID.

problem is, you need to attach a korean copy of a game to a KOREAN account.
and you can only create a korean account with a korean social security number.
i live in korea and even my alien registration number doesn't work ^^
but i want to play with english people neway

Well...that really sucks, guess all you can do is get a Korean friend who's really into favors.
|
yeah so many of their games are like that, thank God for my wife

As far as I understand it, the server you play on depends on what region your bnet account is created in, NOT your CD key, or if you bought digitally or any of that other stuff. If you manage to make a bnet account on the Korean site, any SC2 purchased from anywhere would connect you to the korean server, so long as it's registered to that account.

The hard part is making a Korean account- I can confirm that you definitely need a Korean Social Security number and only Korean citizens have these. I used my girlfriend's.

Can't a korean give us his grandma's/dead grandma ID?
|
My SC2 game says that it is only playable on europe servers. So, wouldn't it be enough to get a copy that says the same with korean servers? So you're automatically conected with those? I'm not sure, if that's possible. Maybe I'm totally wrong but those were my thoughts.

Would you feel comfortable giving away your grandma's SSN to a random korean?
