Quoting "The_Conclave" from GosuGamers.net:
If you don't want to play on b.net, I have a solution. You can play starcraft on my LAN using hamachi (peer to peer network program downloaded from www.hamachi.cc) and typing in user name "sc-gosu" and password "gosu". Note that you will need patch 1.12 to play.
Important information when connecting to my server: - Make sure Hamachi version 0.9.9.7 is installed. - Make sure Brood wars 1.12 is installed. - Feel free to create and join games in the starcraft LAN(UDP) lobby. - For security reasons, disable file sharing on the Hamachi connection by going to network places, network connections, looking for the Hamachi Network Interface connection, click properties, and disabling microsoft file and printer sharing. - Only a maximum of 12 people are allowed on one server, therefore i have created 2 others: sc-gosu1 and sc-gosu2 aswell as the original sc-gosu. All have the same password 'gosu'.

Enjoy~

pretty cool does anyone actually use this? anyone good ? if not i'll Dominate all 3 ladders!
|
they aren't ladders, those are just serves to play, via UDP (or something), you join the server, then go to SC; and then select the last option on Multiplayers Screen, after this, you can see the games, like it were a LAN Network
|
could be pretty cool but pretty low amount of gamers i guess...might be fun though if anyone is actually on it.

does it work when the ports are blocked and I dont have own external ip number?(not likely)
otherwise it is just poinless, there are private servers, still you cant afford to buy sc and get a cd-key?
|
lol I have my cd key, but i just though it was a good Idea...
Apparently..it wasn't
|
Yes it was, thanks for posting. It's not pointless.

I have the ports blocked but this program skips that by creating a VPN and just peer to peer conection. It is a great program... not widely known though

if you're gonna do something like that... wouldn't it be better to just put up a PvPGN server(bnet emu ...just about) and give out the ip? better functionality and clearly more secure. pvpgn.org i think it is, takes about 2mins to set one up that works fine for sc, then you can tweak it until you're satisfied.

well that made me try it immiediately unfortunately the program does not work "cant connect to bibi.hasomething.com" (it appears that the server is down at the moment - there is some info in the background)

I can connect... but there are no games... and no one joins mine... :x

Obsolete if did not mistake the explanation is a program to make "you own bnet side server". Where you can play and make your own "bnet" channels to play and chat up to 12 people.
It basically helps getting rid of telling each other the ip via battle.net and i think it also bypasses cdkey validation.

"Feel free to create and join games in the starcraft LAN(UDP) lobby."
=/

But does anyone play on it? Because why do all this stuff to play on a "LAN" where there is no games?
|
Ok.. there just weren't any games before, it works fine :D
