Whoops, that looks terrible! But if I use the "upload image" option before I post... Easy.

The resize code is an incredibly nasty hack and posting such big images is a waste of bandwidth and for posts with many images, the resize process is also very slow even on modern CPUs, delaying the page rendering.

(Quite possible lol) lag will not change in the least, since the stuff your computer's downloading is still the same, just the way it displays it is different. it'll cut down lag because it'll force users to upload images in their proper size =\

Can we implement an "image check" before posting that prevents the post from going through if the image is too big? That would force people to resize, keep quotes ok, and preserve the past threads. Yeah agreed, it totally destroyed my thread haha. PS If the system is going to be changed, can we atleast have the "upload image" function work properly beforehand. Or atleast list the size specifications that pictures need to be? Thanks!

As motbob said, the upload image feature will take care of all the resizing and hosting for you, so there's not really any reason why huge full sized images should be posted. The fact that "Resize large images" was a default option for so long was unfortunate, as posters have become reliant on it for doing what they should have done in the first place. The resize code is an incredibly nasty hack and posting such big images is a waste of bandwidth and for posts with many images, the resize process is also very slow even on modern CPUs, delaying the page rendering. I really don't think that people will realize anything. Anyone who cares enough about his posting already resizes his images. Everyone else will post a huge ass image, see the result and then don't give a damn about the way it looks, because they just want the others to be able to see the image and not the thread to look pretty. As it is right now, it just looks unprofessional to be honest. (I know the reasoning behind it is reasonable, but I still think the old way was way better)

(Quite possible lol) It would reduce the load, because before it would load the full size image in your browser and resize it after it loaded it meaning it's doing extra work to render it. Now it's just loading the full image. The TL resizing of images to my understanding didn't make a new image it just resized it in the browser if that made any sense. The Upload an image does resize it properly now.

You have alot of faith in people... I think it'll take a while longer before people actually change, especially newer posters... regardless its probably a necessary pain

I came here looking for a explination or to be posting a question why all of a suden a lot of old threads had rader large imiges that where to big for the layout or was wither cutout or hade scrollbars to be able to view the whole ting. Is the discussion in this thread about the new image process for the forum the explanation for all this? Beacuse i started to wonder if it was a browser misshap or something. I noticed it first in the Wallpaper thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=149075¤tpage=12 Thanks!

+ Show Spoiler [Example] + I know you guys will have a better idea, but this is what I'm talking about: http://www.smiteam.net/forum/topics/Um-ya-71.aspx#top Here someone posted a large image and it got cut off but was also, obviously, a link that could be clicked

This is much less convenient, could you please change that back? I don't think that this issue is related to my browser, since it worked fine before the changes. Also, without the side scroll bars you can't see IF an image is actually bigger or just cut off. So you now always have to check for each image, which can get quite annoying. Just sizing down every image before uploading is not the way to go either because you sometimes need to show images in full size. (so that small text on it is visible or whatever)

Then you save your layout but also allow people to see the full image easily when people are (inevitably) too lazy to resize anything. As it stands right now, all large images I see in old threads are cut off and can't be viewed unless I get the direct link and view it in a new tab. Because the parser has no idea if an image will get cut off or not, since it has no idea how big the images are. It can't know if it should generate a link or not, and it still doesn't fix the root problem of people posting huge images in the first place.
