EDIT: I guess I should put a disclaimer that this opinion is mostly for one (possibly 2) people who have given me a pretty negative perspective by their actions, they know who they are. This isn't meant to drive the steak through would-be good community members who will eventually get to know me and we can have some laughs together!
Original message:
Sadly I've had a bad experience here. Seems I'm not allowed to post any thread topics except in the user section unless I contribute to other threads. Didn't realize that was part of the TOS, having to talk on other threads to earn the right to make your own in the relevant sections...who knew?
Also rather than just moving threads if things are in the wrong spot, or maybe a message saying "oh hey this is in the wrong spot, it goes here!" seems you just get a lock and a message saying "we don't want you here" without even a chance to fix it, well that's always nice.
Oh and I pissed off a mod because another mod said there must have been a mistake for not posting my calendar event (So it seemed there was a bit of miscommunication), so I re-submitted my application quite a few times. when trying to get it approved as it might have just been a mixup, I keep getting declined without telling me why, then finally I get a message saying 'stop asking, you're not significant enough" even though the PRELIMINARY to the event was posted on the calendar! You posted the preliminary rounds but wouldn't let the viewers know about the main event!? I missed out on quite a bit of viewers because of that, and it screwed the community out of knowing all the cool stuff we were doing.
I put in a lot of time with what I do and this place is suppose to help those who want to reach out and stream. I might be small but that doesn't mean I'm not significant, treating people like that and alienating them is pretty lame.
In case u guys are wondering. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/closed-threads/448460-ragetv-ragestream *Quote "Don't make a new thread. Use your old one." (My old one is not in this section, that's why I created the new thread...)
and my "old" thread was locked, it was meant for another section, which means I can't post in the old thread either, so thank you for the locks without telling me why or helping me and sending me messages saying we don't even want you here, all because I posted a few requests to have my calendar date updated for a major event. Maybe a message saying why you can't post that calendar event next time will go a long way.
EDIT: After reading this I realized I was pretty upset, I'm still pretty upset, hopefully you can see through the sarcasm and see that I'm just a bit frazzled with how I've been treated so far. Not even a message explaining what is going on, yet watching posts get locked when it seems I'm posting in the right sections. I'm left to learn for myself and punished for any mistakes made, to me this is not the best way to deal with new members who don't know every facet of the rules, we are just people after all.

Hey Karis!
My user stream is yes, but I do a daily segment similar to Day9.tv daily in the sc2 section. That section topic was closed.
It's a relevant section and it should be allowed to be there. Yes it's identical but it's suppose to be that way, each section will have different topics, the sc2 section for daily Ragestream, the user stream section for the general user information, and any custom game coverage in the sc2 and custom games section.
I would be updating the section accordingly, I don't see how if the sections are there I can't post my thread despite it looking similar.
BTW ty for the nice post man, you seem like a cool dude

a mod'll have to talk to you about that stuff as I don't know enought about it. thanks for clarifying though

Well, the mod who's been doing it has been a pretty huge prick. R1CH has been nice however, but seems unavailable to help when trying to reach out (busy man I'm sure)
Wish I could just be talked to about something rather than treated the way I've been treated, I'm new to this stuff and I'm trying my best to make sure everything is right.

Making threads is ok. Making multiple threads to advertise your stream? Not so much. I think over half your posts have your stream link at the bottom. That's not exactly welcomed.
Any community, internet or otherwise, has etiquette to observe. TL is no exception. It would've benefited you greatly had you actually participated in the community and learned about that.

I'll be sure to do that sometime.

accepting the preliminary event was a mistake, it shouldn't have been on the calendar. we've been cracking down on events lately, especially arcade ones. so with that in mind, you can see why the rest of the events were refused. teamliquid is not for your personal advertising.

Yeah, you aren't allowed to use TL as your personal advertising platform. Otherwise every forum would be swamped with everyone promoting their substandard production.

This could have been handled with a little less subtle insulting from both sides

Also, when you want people to do things for you, you probably shouldn't call them pricks.

It would've benefited you greatly had you actually participated in the community and learned about that. This is a good post on this subject. Since you specifically mentioned Day[9] I'll talk about what he did for TL before his show. Day was a regular strategy forum contributor, he wrote articles about stuff including this fantastic one about fantasy, he commentated TSL1 and TSL2 and was one of the first people to help give our stream section legitimacy (this was well before sc2). He's been an outstanding member of the TL community and was rewarded with a contributors star. Even into SC2 he continued to have a good relationship with TL despite his fame.
Because Day has contributed to TL in an extremely significant way he could open a thread in every forum about Day[9] Daily and we wouldn't close them. Of course that situation has never happened and will never happen because of the kind of guy that Day is, but you get my point.
Now let's compare that to your post history. Every single post (yes I checked) is either (a) about your stream (b) complaining about unfair treatment. From our point of view you are using TL for nothing more than an advertising platform. You are not interacting with our community in any significant way. How do you think we're going to react to that? So yes, TL rules are applied inconsistently at times. Yes, we make mistakes and accept calendar events that we probably shouldn't. No, you don't get to have multiple threads about your stream.

Yea, it wasn't handled well from the mods to begin with, it's giving me a negative feel of the environment is all, I'll work through it.

Why was it a mistake? Why can't it be on the calendar, it is sc2 related and a big event with a cash prize, that's good enough isn't it? As far as personal advertisement...umm isn't it? Every topic that is on here is a personal advertisement for their events to let you guys know about new and exciting things happening in the sc2 community from GSL, Code S, ESL you name it, so yea it seems to me like TL is exactly the right place to advertise what is going on to inform you guys about it.

From what I have experienced so far from just a few posts in this feedback section, I don't want to know (certain parts) of the community, but can you blame me? No one has noticed that I'm new and said "hey bud you seem to be screwin up all over the place, here's what you do!" instead of getting remarks like "yea you don't talk to us enough so we don't like you go away".
Just think about that for a bit.
As for the self promotion, YES I AM promoting myself, trying to build an audience so I can reach out to my viewers and interact with the "community" I am building. I don't have to post in every other forum post to engage in the community guys. I update the posts every time i'm doing something worth watching, either an event or part of a series. I'm not just going "Hey guys look at me LINK LINK MY CHANNEL ALL MEE BLAHFDSFKLDSJFDS" I'm posting when i'm doing something. Also notice that I don't have a lot of comments in the treads I've made, in over 2-3 months I've had very few of this blessed community say anything save for maybe one or two people, despite having tons of people viewing the tread, so of course it is spammed with only my posts! Seems to be a ton of hate which I get that, perhaps some previous people have pissed you off, but I'm not trying to be one of those people, I'm doing what I "think" is OK and if i'm not can you just not be pricks about it?
Also when talking about day[9] I'm referring to him posting in the SC2 General section whereas my thread is in the user section despite doing sc2 general casts. I'm nowhere near his commitment and community fanbase so don't even try to compare me and use this post as a "great example" because it's not. I'm not going to be able to contribute to the community the way he did and I don't think you should hold me to those expectations but rather appreciate what I CAN contribute when I'm able. Maybe you can use this thread as an example on how to not welcome new people to your community and not be hypocritical.
EDIT: Oh now that i've posted some feedback, I'm being shut down on topics that are actually in the relevant sections (posted in the custom games section for the MA Masters series). http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/closed-threads/447609-marine-arena-us
Thank you plexa for that nice slap on the wrists for giving feedback.

Nah, I think it'll stand as a better example of how not to get started as a fledgling community member. You've provided quite a nice blueprint.

You don't want to know the community but you want them to watch your shows? Why would they? The reason people watch certain casters and streamers is because they get to know the community. The personalities in the scene do what they do because they love the game and the community. You don't seem to care about the community at all, which is weird since without them the game would not be what it is.
Nobody has approached you about anything because you don't engage anyone outside of these complaint threads, where you call everyone a bunch of pricks and then say you don't want to bother with the community. If your stuff was worth watching, people would watch it.
You clearly don't know what you want, aside from attention. If all you want is attention, you're doing a very poor job of getting it.
What you've failed to understand is that the only person being a prick here is you. You broke our rules about spamming. Therefore your threads were closed. That's us enforcing the rules, not us being pricks. People who've been around and contributed a lot (Day is again a good example) get exempted from some rules. Day doesn't have to prove anything to us, he did that a long time ago. You are a new personality. Nobody knows you. You come to our house, try to get money from our community (ads, subscriptions, views) and then tell the same community "I don't want to know you".
So far every post from us has been polite and straightforward. Your posts are self aggrandizement and insulting us to our faces.
Personally, based on the posts you've made, I don't particularly care about you or your stream.
oh look you've completely changed your post there's no reason you can't contribute like Day aside from "I don't want to", don't try to pull that.

And what is this business about money, I'm not earning any money from you guys. I guess if I was a twitch partner I would, but that day hasn't come yet.

That's your opinion, but not the only reason.
Don't worry guys, I'll start talking to the community more, the people posting hate on here are not a real representation of the community I'm sure, some people just like to jump on others when they are upset and seeking answers without any real intention of helping out.
