Oh wow, a blogging section... just what I've always wanted.
Since this is my first post, I guess I will write a little bit about myself. My name is Nina. I have dark brown hair and I love long walks on the beach.
I also love StarCraft so so so so much. I love it more than Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, if you believe that, and you probably can't. I was just bored one day, so I borrowed a StarCraft CD from my brother and started playing it online, then became hooked... it became my heroin... it was very dark.
I went into rehab to get off StarCraft. At first, it was really bad. I had cold sweats and was throwing up all day. I didn't even sleep because the withdraws were just so bad. Once I got de-tox'd, I was brought into group therapy, where I shared by StarCraft addiction. It was very emotional, and as those tragic words came from my mouth, tears welled up in my eyes. I couldn't talk anymore. I just cried and cried, because of the shame and embarrassment. My life had been destroyed, and I was starting all over again. I was so overwhelmed by the prospect of going home and trying to live a normal life when all I had known was self-destruction.
After six weeks, I was ready to move into a house where we took a pledge to stay clean and read books. We were allowed to leave the hours during the day if we brought a buddy with us, to keep us straight, in case we ended up wandering into an internet cafe or something. Before I went home, I called my mom and dad and promised that I would be a whole new person. Things would be different this time.
THEN I GOT HOME AND PLAYED STARCRAFT FOR 98 HOURS STRAIGHT. Oh it felt so good! I LOVE STARCRAFT! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Welcome to TL. Please fill out this short survey before continuing your stay.
1) Can you speak Korean? 2) Are you female? 3) Do you care enough about your favorite team to make badass photoshopped Proleague banners for them? 4) Do you have a smooth, sultry voice and an uncommonly deep understanding of Starcraft?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you're well of your way to becoming a TL celebrity! If you didn't, sit back, relax, and enjoy TSL 2 with the rest of us rabble.

Here are my official answers:
1) No, I can't speak any Korean, except for the phrase "gae sae ggi"
2) Yes, I'm a female.
3) My photoshop skills are very limited, but I'm beginning to envision taking the picture of the Hydralisk on top of all those human skulls, and replacing the Hydralisk's face with Jaedong, and the skulls with pictures of other Pro-gamers.
4) Whenever I hear a recording of my own voice, I sound really annoying, but I UNDERSTAND STARCRAFT!

Mani's voice is definitely not sultry. It's more like the brown note from South Park.

Sometimes I'm surprised about how many people I run into at teamliquid that really like SC. Its almost like the actual reason that TL exist is for Starcraft and not trolling the shit out of each other.
|
Just like any addiction, the more SC you play, the more it will take until you reach the same euphoric condition that you felt after that 98 straight hours.
First, it starts with a single game. Then it takes 2. Then 3. Then it takes a 2 win streak. Then a 3 win streak.
Sooner or later, you don't feel good unless you're on an 8+ game winning streak, pwning some D- noobs on your smurf accounts.
Eventually, your fingers start to fuse to your mouse. Starcraft has you forever then.
Starcraft, just like any other drug, is best enjoyed in moderation. Binge once in a while, then stay the fuck away for a few weeks. That way you get the same euphoric feeling after only a few games, and the next time, it only takes a few games, rather than requiring more.
Find something else to give you that same feeling, or close to it, during the times that you don't play. That will help prevent you from becoming an addict.
Welcome to TL.

However, if you only camwhore and don't contribute then it doesn't remain that way for long. If you look at the list of girls active/active in the past on TL almost all of us have contributed something.
mnm (coverage of many foreign events and keeping the gallery in order.) Susie (merchandise sales, interviews and GOM work.) Me (Photos, projects and other stuff.) Smix (Many translations.) Unc (Cakes! Nom nom nom.) June (Some coverage of eSports in her country.) Sohee isn't very active, but she has contributed. Emlary contributes and comments quite a lot. Peanut (.............my point exactly.)
I just wish there were more people from TL active in Seoul who could come and help me out! I'm always recruiting people when they're on their holidays and bribing them with free lunches to carry my stuff.

You don't *have* to contribute, but it's a much more rewarding experience if you do. Also you won't be asked for 'pics or...' and told there are 'no girls on the internet.' if you do something that detracts from the whole 'OMG SC FEMALE.' thing some people get hung up on.

This may seem like a selfless bump for our friend incontrol but you should take up his lessons if you really are interested in learning more and have 20$ to spare. http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=103660for more info. Also do you have a rank on ICCUP everyone wants to know.
It's kind of like a selfless bump. That was quite unnecessary imo. Don't ask every new person here to take SC lessons and pay money for it. I don't care if inc or ret or whoever gives lessons, it's just a bit greedy to act like this. Especially when it's not even incontrol asking but some random guy called iSiN
Oh and this post probably ends up promoting incs lessons.

Mmm, I dont think it is bad Foucault. iSiN is just letting NinaZerg of possible options, he is not forcing her to pay anything. Quite honestly, though, I am sure NinaZerg can find a whole bunch of practice partners around her level to play with. There are a lot of zergs streaming, liquidpedia, strat forum and players who could give her really decent tips for her current skill level.
I would suggest the iCCup Training Program, even though it is kind of slow and lacking, right now, it helped me improve unbelievably fast in some matches. Really nice and dedicated players there

That brings our numbers up to......me, Susie, Sohee, Junie, Vilda, Ilvy, Smix, that other girl....uh....we're like the rarest Pokemon. also roflmao. Girls on TL do instantly become celebs it seems. Peanut (.............my point exactly.) I just wish there were more people from TL active in Seoul who could come and help me out! I'm always recruiting people when they're on their holidays and bribing them with free lunches to carry my stuff. I have to contribute something now?! Oh well, I can make cakes. You don't *have* to contribute, but it's a much more rewarding experience if you do. Also you won't be asked for 'pics or...' and told there are 'no girls on the internet.' if you do something that detracts from the whole 'OMG SC FEMALE.' thing some people get hung up on. Yeah, that bothers me quite a bit. I just want to learn about the game and get to be good at it like everyone else. well then you came to the right place. Just try to downplay your gender if you are just looking to learn or else you'll get chastised/worshipped(depending on the people)...it's just how the internet seems to work. Actually to be honest, I don't want people to think I'm awesome if I didn't even do anything. I'm completely against that, which is why I'm so critical of camera whores. Oh, those camera whores...

Nice troll. Post a picture or it didn't fucking happen as many persons already said. Btw: If what you posted is actually true (even tho its less than 0,0001% that it is) then you should get rid of your computer.
