Hi
I'm just wondering here what's the best way to burn a dvd. I use windows DVD maker because of its simplicity. The files I download are all .avi so I can just click+drag then click a couple more times, let it burn, then I have a dvd. The problem, however, is that not all the dvd's that I burn work 100%. There will always be some things that dvd maker just screws up like having no sound or simply not working and it's not a bad DVD because I burn a second copy. What other softwares are available that will effectively burn dvd's?

I think he probably doesn't know, that's why he asked.

But do you have a cellphone? that is the true indicator of poorness

my life is over. im "poor"
I will have no phone and no life. Worse then fml. I'm still in shock

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

That shock wore off months ago Nice change of subject you're the one who quoted that changing what we were previously talking about

You have to understand we're just worried about you, Racenilatr. No one should have to live without a cell phone.

I'm sure you must have put a lot of time into thinking that. If you don't have anything to contribute to this topic, than don't say useless things

You do realize that your logic is completely flawed?
I quoted something from you showing that it's not my opinion, it's my extension of your own definition of poor and what constitutes a situation appropriate for the statement "fuck my life," and then you said "the shock wore off months ago" which has absolutely nothing to do with the original question....are you still poor? Which you yourself defined as lacking a phone.

MagicISO has a CD and DVD burner as well, although I've never used it for that.

just use nero... with the newer versions you can create a "real" dvd (with that video_ts folder or what its called) which means you can play movies on all dvd players and customise menu with background, chapters etc.

My own definition of poor has changed and there are other things to live for than just a phone
Sorry I didn't make this clearer, I was inquiring about this from people who have had personal experiences using different types of programs for the job

I didn't know about that I'll give it a try as soon as I sort out some computer problems

I think my answer covers that too

I highly recommend CDBurner XP.
Free and haven't had many (any?) problems with it (note: I'm sure I've had a dvd or two not work, but I've burned hundreds lol).

You can try to use Nero. It opens up a whole world of burning/ripping options.
|
Are you burning ripped and compressed AVI/MPG files back to a DVD (from internet)? That is generally a bad idea.
You need to DL the VOB/ISO files which are like 4 gigs and burn those. For that, I simply use nero.
And you can also use DVDshrink to edit what you want to burn onto the disc. So if you don't want the ads/previews you can cut them off or replace them with an image. Or you can delete director commentary or french dubs to save space, etc.

out of the free ones I've tried that program is definitely the best one
+ Show Spoiler + though it's not that hard to get nero .. for free

Ofcourse it's not hard to get nero for free I am in the middle of reinstalling Windows 7 RTM Ultimate right now. I installed the 32-bit one by accident and didn't realize it until I tried to install Itunes for 64-bit.
@CharlieMurphy yes I am doing that. Why is it a bad idea? The quality is surprisingly decent. Plus I don't have enough time to download 4gb of VOB/ISO files. That is unpractical. I think I will go with nero but I'll give CDburner a try too

Btw I should have posted this earlier, but to the people on the first page derailing this blog (you know who you are) - don't.
It's a simple enough subject, no need to take it wildly off-topic, if you want to comment on a previous blog entry... comment in that entry.
Thank you.

I like Convertx3D myself. Just really simple and flexible.

I think I will go with nero but I'll give CDburner a try too yea you get slightly better than VHS quality and random aspect ratios (as not all rips are the same size). Essentially what you are getting is a 3-9gig dvd video/sound quality compressed down to 700-1500mb file. Then you are taking that file and expanding it out back to 4.5 gig. It's really bad, just torrent Images overnight imo, or get a netflix/blockbuster freebie trial account and burn a bunch of shit that way.
|
ah that exaplains aspect ratio's being all fucked up. Makes sense I suppose, but since I'm not going for Blue-ray quality and just SD quality, there really isn't that big of a difference in my opinion
