Ok, well today I told my mom to plug the cord to the internet back into the Xbox 360 and I fucking knew what was going to happen as she was putting it in -_-.
Cod was in the X box and she tilted it so much you just heard this screech. She puts the cable in and then I take my disk out I see 4 HUGE DEEP scratches in there.
She is hoping to return it to Target and say that it just stopped working...
I hope I can play Cod some more >:|
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Target lady gave my mom a new game AND a 10$ gift card.

Yeah that won't work almost certainly. Return policies are usually (on games) no return unless unopened.
Lesson learned I hope? Don't be lazy and ask your mom to do something you could easily do.. especially when you have an xbox involved.
Also: Don't stand your xbox up.. have it laying down (better for cd tray AND it is harder to tilt the system with a game inside).

COD games are terrible. Maybe now you can move onto games that haven't been exactly the same for the last three sequels.

It means I haven't played any of the other games so them being the same would not change anything?

To me it started being bad after CoD2, when it just felt like not only was the quality going down, but it started to feel like playing the same game over and over in (not so) different locations. Also the leveling system is incredibly annoying (making it VERY hard for new players who aren't godly to do well until they level up) and the AMM is just retarded.

That still doesn't make the game good. Removing dedicated servers from a PC game, that is one of the dumbest thing I've seen. Especially from something as big as Call of Duty.
And no, you cannot play FPS games on a console seriously.
|
I never liked call of duty or any FPS for that matter, but when I was playing with my friends last night, most of the drunk off their ass it was good times. It's great game, I just personally dont like FPS' since I'm so bad at it and I don't want to take time to get good at them.

I personally don't think MW2 is as terrible as ghermination says (the very obvious favoritism toward consoles annoys me, but doesn't detract from the actual content provided by the game), but this line of reasoning is pretty flawed.
On November 29 2009 06:17 fanatacist wrote: It doesn't suck to us because we like it, but they might not like it so it sucks for them n_n; The thing is, games, like any other medium, can be objectively judged to an extent. A game can be "good" or "bad" for other reasons than how much players like or dislike it, just like any other art. Tolkien is still better writing than Harry Potter fanfiction. The Mona Lisa is better art than a 5 year old's finger painting. Schindler's List is still a better movie than Transformers. Just because people can form opinions about something doesn't mean you can't form objective criteria about it too.
Starcraft, on the whole, is a difficult game to find flaws in, as most of the things people believe detract from the game arguably also add to the game in different ways. By contrast, there are obvious features of Modern Warfare 2 that can be criticized. The lack of mod tools, for example, in no way adds to the the user's experience. Being able to play mods is strictly an improvement on not being able to play mods.

People wouldn't show up in the same way for Twilight if it cost 60$ per movie.
It was 5 million copies purchased and in hand THE HOUR the game came out. I'm sorry.. but that means something when everyone paid 60$ or more for a game that has leveled the reviews with straight 9's or 10's.
Yeah, you got me.. not everything where millions of people show up the minute they can means it is "good" Y'GOT ME lol.. but I'm gonna go ahead and say in this case, it DOES mean something. So citing times or areas where the same occurrence happened and it was generally accepted as a bad event isn't disproving my point, only showing it isn't a perfect science, as if we needed that.
@Fantacist: People's opinions can be wrong I'm sorry. An 11 year old game where millions upon millions of copies were sold and it has fueled the most intense progaming scene the world has known can hardly be called "a bad game." Sorry.. it could be personally for a person sure, but as far as the game is concerned the numbers speak louder than some random person.

Yes, it does mean something. It means people were hyped about the game, thought the advertising and preview material for it were promising, and trusted the reviews about it. That still says nothing about the actual content of what's in the box they paid $60 for.
Given that COD has been a successful franchise since its inception, strong hype and good reviews would be present regardless of how good or bad the next installment was. They could put a blank CD in the box, and it still would have sold well in the first hour, because no one would know the difference (hyperbole, but hopefully my point comes across).
Movies are an entirely different issue. When you pay $10 for a movie ticket, you're usually seeing the movie almost immediately. Because of the lag time between purchasing a game and playing it, a bad game that's well hyped could sell a lot of copies on the first night, before the widespread knowledge that the game sucks got out.

Yup. You can randomly claim that prerelease reviews, midnight sales, post release reviews and general mass opinion all are some random occurrence that happen to coincide with each other in agreement if you like.

I'm AGREEING with you that MW2 is not bad. It's just your original post cited the sole statistic of number of copies sold on opening night. That statistic is meaningless. All the other things in your above post do lead to the conclusion that MW2 is good. But first-night sales are hogwash.

The lady who your mom talked to must of been like, "fuck it it's not worth arguing".

About that argument...
I see two sides:

2) "The game is really popular, therefore it's awesome".
Yeah, makes sense.

About the OP, i guess your mom had a few tricks up her sleeve lol. That's sort of a gross oversimplification. It's more along the lines of:
1) "Whether or not the game is popular has no correlation to whether or not it sucks."
2) "The game is really popular, this is a strong indication that it's awesome."
Both are reasonably supportable arguments.

After all, what kind of mom takes her son's game and returns it for them, I mean, grow some balls man lol don't let your mom pamper you so much. Nah dude I'm about to be 15 can't even drive yet so of course shes gona "pamper" me a bit... And of course she is going to return the game she fucking broke it... She broke it because she's not sure how to handle it. It wouldn't have broke if you took the effort of plugging the internet back yourself. Instead of asking your mom who clearly did not have any knowledge of the problems the console has. You were lazy, it was your fault. Your mom broke it because you asked her to do it even you could have done it yourself and made sure it didn't break in the first place.
"And of course she is going to return the game she fucking broke it..." How rude. She was just trying to help you in doing a favour you asked her to do.

COD4: MW was mad fun for me and my dorm mates last year. Countless hours (sober or drunk) spent owning or getting owned.

Seeing the kill board light up with like 5 of your personal kills in a row is awesome.
