Reading the Nada thread and someone's blog about them being 21 (Holy shit old wtf??) made me think about when I first stumbled across TL some years ago, and it reminded me of my encounter with the infamous tl;dr phrase.
Back then, I had no idea what it meant. However, I did know teamliquid = TL, and I knew about the DDR terran (no, not Dance Dance Revolution, and not the RAM either). So, thinking that dr was just a lazy, intentional mispelling of ddr.... teamliquid ddr ;x (this actually lasted for about a year)
For those of you who don't know what DDR is... + Show Spoiler +

I once thought Testie was the best player in the world and made it my lifes mission to get a 1v1 with him. I knew he posted on TL and thought it would be a perfect place to stalk him.
Upon discovering TL I read a few news posts about korean pros, I realized how terribly, terribly wrong I was.
Regardless, he turned over to DOTA before I got my chance.

I used to think Boxer was a Zerg player, because I saw a Youtube video named "Boxer's 4 pool". I knew that Boxer was some famous SC player, so I picked Zerg as my main race. Then I join TL and found out that Boxer is a Terran player...biggest SC disappointment of my life

I don't even remember what happened when I first joined TL... It was back in like 03? 04? I was like 13 or 14 years old. Man I have horrible memory :|

I just had a lot of bad strat forum posts I think. Nothing too bad as far as I know. I didn't know what tl;dr was for a while either, and I just figured out a couple weeks ago QFT more often stands for "quoted for truth" instead of "quit fucking talking" lol. I thought so many people were just random assholes hahaha.

It was the gods' way of saving you from becoming Terran scum, and instead you were able to live a glorious life as part of the swarm. Where's the disappointment ^^

I thought oov and iloveoov were two different people. When people kept saying oov was so great, and then I saw this guy in the youtube vids called "iloveoov" I'd just think, damn that guy must agree.

I once thought that replying to idiots was worth my time.

Whoa, seriously?
This might start a direct correlation between age and quality of blog posts overall. Damn, then I'm on the way low scale.

Well 6 years ago when I browsed TL I thought it was a website for Lord of the rings at first, with the horses. Pretty quickly I noticed it wasn't lol. I was on Starcraftgamers first (old gosugamers) and came to TL where I noticed that they talked about players in the replays I had watched and adored. (Nada and Boxer)
Err I have had something like 8 accounts on here, and was acting like a dumbass on many old accounts. Thinking back on how much TL has changed and how many AWESOME features have been implemented I feel nothing but the deepest respect for this website and community.
I talked to some korean girl on here like 5 years ago and we started chatting on MSN. This was right before the IOPS finals where Nada won against July (I think or Gorush). She said she would record the Starleague finals and send to me, and i was like "yeah right but thanks your cute". A week later I have a vcr tape of the finals in my mailbox and I sat in my sofa for a couple of hours watching the entire thing in awe.
Also, what happened to yubee?

i made my TL when i played with only my irl friends... they only played on vanilla for some reason, and i had a huge issue with tvz (marines without medics vs mutas??? i wonder why!) ... strategy guides were not helpful at all as they all incorporated bw units. thus, i sought out help on this website as it seemed to be really big and popular. So i post a thread asking about tvz in vanilla with rep and all (i made sure i followed the forum guidelines, posted rep with self-analysis etc), and i was unpleasantly surprised when i came back later and saw that somebody had closed my guideline-following threads in the strategy section! and i saw the mod Chill had locked it cuz "we dont discuss vanilla here". and i was infuriated! i put legit effort and followed all the rules for my post, and then he shuts it down with a curt statement like that! i pm'd him, telling him that... IT DOESNT SAY IN THE FUCKING RULES THAT WE DONT DISCUSS VANILLA HERE... and he replied "its implied that we dont", which raged me even more, like how the fuck am i supposed to know that? he told me to go post on another forum and ask, and i told him that i purposely waited for 10 days to let me account legitimize so i could ask that question, and all in all, i had a reaaaally bad start with Chill ^^^^^

I don't recall exactly how I came to TL in the beginning, it was so long ago. It might have been from reading battlereports.com way back in the day, or maybe from zileas (later shamblers) website/forum. I don't really remember what was going on at that point in TL history either but I seem to remember a lot of stuff that people mention when they are telling their own old stories.

When I first came to the site I thought everyone was a bunch of snobby pricks. I guess that still hasn't changed much;)

I once walked straight past Boxer without knowing who on earth he was (this was the very first proleague I ever attended back in Dec 2007.) because I was so shocked/amazed/elated to meet Zeus. >.>;;;;;;;;;;;;

Boxer was all "Aww yeah adoring fangirls.." Neggy was like JK! :D
I sortof lurked TL for a LONG time when a bunch of ppl would come over every saturday for the LAN we did...One of the other guys had always had it open and back then I was at least kind of good at SC so I'd get my fix there. Fast forward a few years and they've all moved away with the ladies or finishing up college and I felt like rejoining the BW scene. :D

I browsed TL for a year and a half before I created an account for the sole purpose to play some lolish OSL game where you fill in the bracket after like the ro16 or something. It was fun but I always did terribly.
Now nearly 2.5 years later I'm still going strong. And I've met many awesome ppl through TL like the dude who posted above me

I heard about the finals of Boxer vs Reach in the 2002 SKY OSL. I knew about Boxer and not about Reach. At the time the way I heard it described from people, it sounded like Boxer was the old established veteran fighting a young upstart. Boxer's style relied on doing everything he could with his units, while Reach was this boring emotionless macro guy. It was like, he was good, but he didn't have heart like Boxer.
Now I think Reach is a wonderful person.
