err, his writing style is different from ben gibbard's. :\ also, ben gibbard has a standard writing style, which just negates your post.

explain a little more. with out word's it'd just be music, not a song and if your next point is his use of the synthesizer, then your ejust being biased. :\

im done, either you are deliberately not connecting the dots, so to speak, or you can't ( which would explain the taste in music) either way talking to you is a waste of time.
to each his own i suppose.

The first time I heard Fireflies I didn't like it because it sounded like your average pop-ish autotuned shit. The lyrics definitely aren't as amazing as you make them sound. After hearing it a couple of times I was liek "whao those lyrics are interesting" but when I looked them up I saw that they were actually pretty generic.

uhh, lol, i don't know if you ever watched nick jr. they don't play song's on their network, just music. are you referring to teen bop or w/e the cd is called?

uhh, there's no relation in writing or word usage with his and ben gibbard's, wtf, pay attention.
go read ben gibbard's work, no similarity.
and to eth, try not being so dense and always looking to win an argument, it's not about winning -_-.

It's not awful, but I wouldn't say its anything special...

it's nothing special, but when you're hit by a wave of shitty artists it's a fucking relief.
my point: i listened to a wide variety of music, this is something different, and as much of you might say he's similiar to ben gibbard (even though you probably only listened to one song of his) there's hardly similarity in writing style, maybe music, but that's extremely fucking biased.
i don't see owl city on nick junior, that's a bit ridiculous, lol. i doubt 6 year old's can even comprehend wtf he's talking about; the synthesizer is the only thing i can think of that would fascinate a child.

I didn't like the song. Just not my kind of music.

God man, just relax... some people won't like the same music as you. Life still goes on and all your moaning and arguing won't make them like it.

i've been awake for 2 days, this kept me busy this morning ^_^.

What's a wide variety of music? To me Owl City is very shallow music and doesn't give me much joy. There are much richer pieces of music to be heard out there with better lyrics and better sounds in my opinion.
It seems like you haven't been exposed to much music.

by a wide variety, i mean a wide variety of genres. i don't say distorted shit just to prove a point( or aggressively assume shit, as if you knew the answer positively as you just did) no, i pay attention to my facts before i write/say something.

and lyrics and writing style aside, i do think owl city does sound like a poppier postal service.

You see Owl City as something amazing because you haven't been exposed to much past pop music it seems (please correct me if I'm wrong). All I'm saying is there is much better music out there IF you're looking to be taken into a dream, for amazing lyrics, for a broad vocabulary, for something that isn't dull.
Edit: typoesss

Meh, lyrics aren't all that special.
Listen to Neutral Milk Hotel if you want dream like lyrics. These just don't compare.
And yeah, these guys sound alot like Postal Service or a less edgy LCD Soundsystem.

the only song i know is fireflies and i really like it. hella fun to play acoustic on the guitar

Owl City just feels like a manufactured postal service. It's kind of catchy but it seems really formulaic and disingenuous. I don't see how anyone can find this deep or thought provoking unless you also find yourself moved by pepsi commercials or something
