I played go yesterday for the first time in a while at the cybcraft lan in nyc (unexpectedly but whatever). Pretty bad games I think lol.

I tried to give Go a shot few times in the past, but time constraints turned out to be too much of down-turner for me unfortunately Fun game to play with friends off-line for me, but not so much otherwise. I still should have kgs ID if it doesn't get automatically deleted after lengthy amount of inactivity though.

I just started playing today! My dad asked me suddenly if I wanted his old Go board, and I said of course! He told me he used to play on and off for a few years a while back. Played my first game against him today, and came back from like a 15 stone deficit! Very fun way to challenge myself. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone wanted to play with me or maybe even give me lessons! I'd really like to start getting into this (even though I doubt there is a very large community where I live). I'd even be willing to trade SC2 lessons/practice games for Go lessons/practice games :O (I'm only mid-masters though :X)
I'm in Texas visiting family for the week until Saturday, but I'll be sure to read the threads I found through search! :D

I've been playing this for past two days, its really fun. People on KGS are so helpful too. I've mostly played in beginners channel 9x9 games and did quite well (altho I strongly suspect some people were going really easy on me seeing if I could figure most basic stuff out). I played my first 19x19 game just a while ago and got destroyed, but it was alot of fun so its all good. I'll be playing more in the coming up days for sure as I'm almost done with my studies, so watch out :p.

Go is really satisfying! I find it hard to play more than one game in a row because it's so mentally taxing, even online. I have trouble finding practice partners IRL, maybe I'll stop by the TL room on KGS sometime for a game.

I started playing a few games and got my ass completely handed to me by a bot. I've been too traumatized to attempt another game ;_;

I love Go but it's hard to find people to play with or good videos on it to learn.
I know the basics and The Many Faces of Go was fun but it's not the same as learning with someone else.
Also, most programs to play it are pretty bad and uncustomizable. I remember one that played this obnoxious sound every single time a move was made and you couldn't turn it off... only online Go game I found that had players and worked well.
It would be awesome to have a real board and people to play with but it seems no one on this side of the world gives a damn about it. Who would want to play a board game that's intricate and mentally stimulating? T_T
