Do you mean a private website? Er maybe? If so my term 'private website' would be redundant and I could just say 'website', but that distinction is hardly worthy of you coming out of the woodwork to call my point dumb.
You do realize that my point is that freedom of speech is only intended to protect us from our government... right?

LOL, and for some reason I have a feeling that the multitude of listed signups aren't the only non-invitational tournies either.
Whereas disregard and contempt for human rights have resulted in barbarous acts which have outraged the conscience of mankind, and the advent of a world in which human beings shall enjoy freedom of speech and belief and freedom from fear and want has been proclaimed as the highest aspiration of the common people,
Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind.
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

Ok its a little redundant, but not nearly enough so to go and make fun of him for it. Besides that little detail, his point is perfectly fine.

I'm pretty sure that the Universal Delcaration of Human Rights says "without distinction of any kind".
As funny as it is, it's actually pretty sad to have these kind of people in the world. I mean just think about how this guy would be in real life... Think how sad it would be to actually talk to him. hah,...
How do these people manage to get on a computer and type without accidentally severing their penis on the cd drive? Or maybe that is what happened and his mangled typing is a result of his mangled genitals.
All jokes aside, I really think it's weird that no one can take this guy seriously. Although his English skills are clearly impaired, we as a mature community should be able to look past that and see his message. Maybe we shouldn't make these rules on posting with regard to grammatical correctness. It really makes me feel bad to be a part of the teamliquid community when I see the moderators making fun of people like dropzone. It's all about the improvement of e-sports, a realm where anyone, regardless of education, can achieve if they are so inclined. But then again, I have a few lawyers in my family, so maybe I'm just bi-est.
This is a joke. I agree with teamliquid making fun of this fuckwit. Would've been better if I was on stage I guess. The punchline was my bi-est part at the end.

If he was actually concerned about his message and affecting change in the community, there are better ways of going about it than the way he did. He wasn't trying to help or try and put out a meaningful critique. He was trying to troll, and so the mods bite back knowing full well they're not harming anyone who was even trying to do good. And it makes the rest of us laugh.
If you feel the way he does, perhaps you yourself can write an informative, accurate, and insightful post arguing his/your point. That would be met with fairness and thoughtfulness, I think. But doing it the way he did is a ticket to no where.

One argues for the freedom to speech, while others argues for the freedom to not hear his speech, without an audience there is no speech, without an audience one's voice is nothing but noise, hence there is no such thing as the right of freedom of speech. What people have is privileges of being heard, and if others don't like what they are hearing, those privileges are gone.

First of all, they're not coming into your house - you're silencing them by kicking their asses out.
It is not your place nor your right nor your privilege to silence people. If you don't want them to express their opinion, either ignore them or prevent them from coming to you in the first place (I heard TL has a trial membership nowadays, so assuming that that rumor is true, I think you're already doing that anyway). If they are able to enter, then you get them to leave through other means, but you do NOT silence them. I believe that the British prefer to ask nicely, but that's just their culture.
You are our guests. We will make all attempts to treat everyone with due respect and to accommodate everyone's wishes as far as reasonably possible. But, this is a private site. Your understanding of the freedom of speech is bad, but your understanding of the UDHR is even worse; it doesn't even bind the countries that voted in favor of it. Its applicability to a private forum on the internet is nonexistent.

Freedom of speech does not apply to teamliquid.net. As the 10 commandments say, the site tries to be respectful and 'ask nicely' as you put it... and that doesn't always work. I don't know what the hell you are talking about with "First of all, they're not coming into your house - you're silencing them by kicking their asses out." It just doesn't make sense.

When you agree to the ToS when you make a TL account... they get the right to silence you, you sign over your freedom of speech on TL.
So you have no rights here :/, when you agree to the ToS the only rights you have are those outlined in the ToS which you have to check the little box when you make an account saying you agree to them.
Nothing else applies, as that counts as a signed contract which you sign over your rights in order to be given the privilege to use their website.
Not to mention, TL does not fall under the jurisdiction of a single country even though they are based out of the USA (I believe.) So any sort of constitutional rights / laws do not apply to them as a whole... (Obviously some do, since they have contracts with their ISP and such...) but as a whole more laws don't count of shit on the interwebs.
As well, since they are a private business, which IS NOT open to everyone (as you have to make an account. Like joining a golf club, they get to crush your rights even more... as it is not a public but a private business so they do not have to adhere to the laws and regulations that a public business has to.
Really though when you: a) are on the internet and b) have to agree to something (ToS, EULA, etc...) you basically lose 99% of your rights when it comes to that single product / service as you sign a contract when you agree to those things.
Same way when you made your SC2 account you signed away your rights to;
- Freedom of speech (They can ban you for account names / griefing people) - Rights to Privacy (They can give away all your personal info if they want) - Rights to ownership of your property (You don't own SC2 at all, period, in anyway shape or form, they just let you borrow its usage for $$$$)
etc... (many more, i just haven't read the ToS or the EULA...)

First you say Universal Delcaration of Human Rights, you talk about rights, privileges, etc, then when you are proved by several people to be completely wrong on every front (which you proceed to ignore completely) you then talk about integrity which is a completely different thing. Yes, tl and other websites should try their best to make a good community where all voices are heard etc... but that's an unrealistic goal to expect to achieve 100% for an internet forum if the community is going to be one worth visiting.
edit: the only thing you could have going for you is that the 10 commandments is somehow unreasonable which you have in no way shown.
I think you neither understand the content nor the context.
Even if I hated how TL ran things and about how apparently fucking unfair the SC2 BETA tournament scene is...I don't get it...how the hell do you get so worked up about it?
You're crying over a website you hate and a video game you're obviously bad at that hasn't even been released yet...

I'm pretty sure that the Universal Delcaration of Human Rights says "without distinction of any kind".
edit - yeah I double checked. It does.
Sooooooo?
You are wrong on so many levels I can't even come up with a conclusive reply. How about this: Your understanding of freedom of speech would force me to let everyone walk into my house and start expressing his opinion. I would have no right to prevent them from entering as I would violate his right to freedom of speech, right?
I think that the misunderstanding is with you.
So if I hear a knock on my door, go to the door, open it, and see a lunatic cultist and he steps into my house and starts preaching and I am not interested, then I am not allowed to kick them out of my house because of their "freedom of speech"?
Should have let him play someone like inc or nazgul in sc2.
Woulda been funny.
That's exactly what he would have wanted... for people to take him seriously and make a big deal out of his immature/childish post.
But isn't that an easy way to make them shut up, make them put their money where their mouth is, i say bo5 $1000 go go.
What do you think would actually happen if an elite sc2 beta player stepped up? You seem to be fantasizing that a match would ensue where the noob would get utterly destroyed and then give a soliloquy about how wrong he was and about how he is going to devote the remainder of his life to righting wrongs on the internet.
If all it takes to get a game with a really good player is for a noob to insult the tl community and its players' abilities then we are doing something wrong.

Yeah first a player must post at least 100+ shitty commentaries, abuse ladders, and beg for money.

I wish there was a way to convey to this kid that there are plenty of open-signup tourneys for US players.... Am I the only one who would get a kick out of seeing him play?

I'd get a kick in seeing how he talks, considering the guys "short hand"
Trying to read that op as is, verbatim, physically hurts me to do so.
I have no idea how I missed this thread! Just read all 5 pages, always great to see tools get disposed of. Though, I'm not sure if the OP is more funny or the argument based around "Freedom of Speech"...
Lets just hope that these kind of individuals dont get out of control when they flood TL once SC2 comes out. And that will happen, i have no doubts about that. dark ages of TL are coming :|
LOL I love how you guys wasted your time and made your selves sound so dumb on my behalf, but its understandable why you would erase my name and block my account.. i would do the same to someone who would rock me on SC2 aswell.. shit, I'll gladly put my money were my mouth is. just look at this footage
my partner leaves me to die in this 2v2 random match and doesnt let me control any of his units,
this is also to team liquid, i posted a blog saying they sucked and needed to play new people, i also challenged them but they denied me by blocking my account n changing my SC2 battle.net name in my own blog n then told me to leave the site but right after doing so they posted a blog them selves and tried to make a mockery of me witch kinda ends up being a joke on them because they sound so annoying hahaha and alot of there fan boys n teamliquid Buddy's just copied each other and my hole post by making a YouTube video and more audio clips of my blog as well.. i don't no why they banned me and then went on to mock me with a blog and repetitive sound clips n YouTube videos but if u say I'm trolling u got it wrong man HAHAHAHAHAHA but anywho here is a taste of what will happen to team liquid if they ever grow a pair n accept my challenge

the troll seems to be him though especially considering it links to a dropzonekill youtube channel that was created in early April and included that text in a recently uploaded video.
1:30 in and... wall doesn't block. built 4 depots within 30 seconds of each other with two at the same time, canceled a barracks or something, doesn't scout with a worker....
watching a bit more the opponents are very weak and can't even mass basic armies in time to deal with his average one.
It wasn't worth waiting several minutes for this youtube video to load :p
