... Things were very different.
- 2v2 Was still played in every proleague match.
- Boxer was still relevant to the Pro-scene, appearing regularly on ACE's lineup
- TvZ had yet to be revolutionized
- Bisu was slumping (for the 1st time)
- July had the best ZvP on earth, and it didnt involve templar-sniping or simcities
- Nada was still qualifying for starleagues regularly
- Stars was still owned by hanbit, and Free was literally the ONLY good player on the team (Zero was still a B-teamer and GGplay left for CJ)
- Foru/Clon were the best 2v2 team in Korea, almost always getting the sole win for ACE each match.
- GOM was still going "strong" (still didnt have participation from estro/mbc/ogn/skt/ACE), meaning that there were 3 individual leagues going on as well as Proleague.
- Sparkyz were still called OGN Sparkyz
- Luxury was the best player on OGN by a wide margin, and usually considered the 2nd best Zerg on earth (after Jaedong)
- lomo was the original 2-port wraith master
- forgg was GOOD
- Khan was the best team in the league, with stork just as good as ever, Jangbi with an arguably even better PvT than Stork, and FBH only rivaled by flash and hwasin in TvZ.
- the greatest PvZ on all time was played
- Backho made a semifinal of a starleague. TWICE!
- Flash and Jaedong were still the two best players on earth
Many things have changed, but not everything.

As much as I love Savior and Nal Ra, I think the Holy War was collectively not that great, Peaks was the only good game (but it was a very epic game xD)

really? in terms of game quality, they weren't all that, but the storyline behind it is better than pretty much any other PvZ rivalry

I was mainly referring the games themselves (Ra's misplaced cannon FFFFFFU-). The storyline's a whole different thing.
And yeah, it definitely is the best PvZ rivalry.

Interesting observations. But IMO, Reach vs Chojja on Rush Hour was a better PvZ, if only for the ending.

Those days were full of fun :D

I miss the 2v2's. I like the fact there was one 2v2 per match, it brought change to the 1v1, and also made Proleague feel more ''teamy'' if that makes any sense.
Oh well. =(
|
|
2v2 is such a different game, you have to approach it with a different mentality and macro is much less important compared to doing the right stuff and micro. Top 2v2 players often have incredibly poor mechanics compared to an equivalently ranked 1v1 player but that just shows how different the game types are.
I really miss it, it was something that gave ACE a chance

T_T Khan what happened to you T_T
FBH where are you? ESPORT is so boring without your goofiness around.

Was is 15 right now, right? That means he was 13 two years back. Amazing.

Ha, I almost forgot that it was Lomo who started 2-port wraithing before Leta.
|
Yeah, Lomo! I remember when I was fanboying arround Lomo last season, my friend asking me "Why Lomo? Cuz of 2port wraith? You suck man." .. pff :D

Clearly you haven't been around to see some of his epic games against top players. It was pretty crazy back then I have to admit.
I remember a game where he just turtled in against Savior and got a bunch of battlecruisers.
Typical Terran.....oh wait....

Two years? Two years is yesterday man, new school.

Fast forward to 2012:
Only 2 years ago...
-Broodwar still had an active progaming scene.

Heh, I'm sure it'll linger around like WC3 and slowly wither away for years to come.

God awful TvP but extremely solid TvT and good enough TvZ that he can actually beat zergs with battlecruisers.

Yeah it'll be sad when Sc2 fades away, at least we will have broodwar :D.

oh jeez, i've watched stork vs ggplay 3 times now, and still havent really gotten bored of it...
|
Haha wow its crazy I remember EVERY single thing you said as if it was yesterday.
|
wow 2 years really change a lot... What I miss the most is Nada

2 years ago BW felt like it would never die. Today it feels like its already dead.
|
fbh, i miss you

What a difference a day makes, let alone 730.

wow, how things have changed in the past two years. really interesting to see how both flash and jaedong still manage to remain as the best players of their respective races.

to be fair, for about 6 or 7 months during 2009 fantasy was considered better than flash .

by many people but definitely not by all, and it was never clear who truely was the better terran. Fantasy was simply doing better in individual leagues.

Well, didnt he put Bisu, Tempest and Much in his group and got out of it ^^
But yeah, aside from that, he is really bad at TvP, the only terran that is worse is Casy

This is way before my time, what is the storyline behind it all?
The best part about the FBH thing was in late 2008 (I think?) when he put himself in a starleague group with 3 tosses, then somehow made it out of group (I recall a lot of 2facs). People really briefly debated if he was becoming a good overall player, then he faced Bisu in a bo3 and no one ever talked about it again.

he didnt 2 fac man, they were all straight up! I still remember that game vs bisu on destination where bisu proxy 2-gated and FBH held it off with a sweet wall-off by building a supply depot at the end of the mineral line.
then he pushed way too early and got crushed :\

he beat much by bunker rushing his fast nexus and getting a big advantage, and then he 2factd vs bisu in the Ro32 and came out about even, but was able to win dropship play. his games vs tempest were pretty straight-up though I think.
