& I'm not sure what to get him.
We've only been dating for 2 weeks as of today. We usually play SC2 every night together, or watch GSL(or Day[9]), and get together once or twice a week(we live about an hour away from each other). So yeah, he plays SC2, and plays as Zerg. We also play Counterstrike: Source together, and occasionally we'll play TF2. He's turning 19 in the middle of November, doesn't drink, or party, is kinda nerdy, loves gaming, his favorite color is purple..
Personally, I was thinking of buying a purple shirt, and putting some stuff on it. I wanted to put "Heart of the Swarm" on the right side of the front in black lettering, maybe 4"x4", have the Zerg logo down on the bottom left in black as well, maybe around 7"x7", and then on the back it saying "zerg's op" .. It's something we used to joke around about before the zerg buff, because of Fruit Dealer pwning and because not many people played zerg.
But also besides that, or instead, I was thinking of getting him a game. Something we can both play. We get bored of the ones we play now, so I was wondering what would be fun to play together?
Those were the kinda things I was thinking of. I kinda wanted to make a zergling plushie or a mutallisk plushie, but my sewing skills aren't *that* great. I was wondering what you guys might think about getting?
Are hand made things too lame to make a guy? What about hand made cards?
Thanks in advance for your help TL. /highfive
Edit: HAHA I hope he doesn't see this. /facedesk

Honestly, handmade stuff>bought stuff. It shows you put effort into whatever present you made. He'll probably treasure that handmade gift more than anything you would buy him.
|
TL shirt would be much cheaper than a single custom-made shirt, I imagine. (Which is a good thing, despite what some people might say.)
Oh, and beat him at BW and SC2. This isn't kicking him in the balls, it's showing him how awesome of a gf hes got. And that's a real treat.

if you're thinking of something you two could play. you could also give him a starcraft boardgame. we bought it 2 years ago, then our friend gave us the broodward boardgame and it's really cool.
just be prepared to waste severals hours of your life just learning the rules, but i must say - it's really worth it!

TL SHIRT!
DO WANT!
How do you even get TL shirts neway? Can I get one sent to Korea?
Ur an awesome gf btw, I'm sure he'll really appreciate any of these great ideas
Maybe you can make a map in the editor that's themed around a heart or something thats a joke between you two, and 1v1 him on it on his birthday
He'll only see the heart when the game starts!

The Day9 shoutout idea is fantastic. Does he listen to Husky and/or HDStarcraft at all? Multiple shoutouts would be RIDICULOUS.

I'd suggest a Dark purple shirt with the zerg logo on the front, since thats a lighter shade of purple it'll really reflect well in certain lights and would just look epic baller.
But a TL shirt works too.
won't he read this thread though? o.o;

Yeah, but guys can get good food from a restaurant (or just eat fast food), and sex from girls who don't love StarCraft, and gadgets from their parents at Christmas. Raeleigh's looking for something unique and special here which appeals to his (the boyfriend's) love of StarCraft, am I right?
You could even go one step further and snag one of his (shorter) replays and get it commentated. Maybe if you ask Day9 nicely and far enough in advance he'd do it! How amazing would that be?!
As far as other games you could play together go, how about L4D? Good cooperative stuff there (or pvp), plus zombies are like Zerg. I hear Gears of War is also excellent for co-op and general gameplay. If you don't want to go the bloody route, but still want something really fun and nerdy and cooperative, definitely go Lego Star Wars.

L4D/2 is really cool for coop, especially if you just kill off the two AI teammates at the start. You really have to look out for each other that way.
Gears of War is nice too, just much .. simpler.

You can get good food from a restaurant sure...but when a girl knows how to cook well and cooks for you...my god I would never go out if I got my girlfriend's cooking every night. and before anyone says its sexist, yes it is. If it was a male poster it would have been brought up far sooner
Anywho a SC/Gaming related card would make any dude happy, The day9 shoutout is a cool idea, but I would be happier with a card or TL shirt, or custom shirt.
The only problem with a custom shirt is making something he would wear. I have stuff girlfriends made me and I did/do enjoy them, but that doesn't mean I would wear it in front of the whole world. So keep it in line with his style and I hope you have more talent then me(the second part isn't hard).

Man, my birthday is coming up too and I am SO jealous :O
My g/f is pretty nerdy herself, but you ma'am are in the process of shattering your man's little nerdy mind.
I hope he loves it :D

I've found a good one that says "We require more minerals" with a little mineral patch, I think i'm gonna get that one for him too.
Thanks! ♥
