So I haven't really worked out in over a year and before that I haven't really kept a steady regimen since like 5 years ago. I'm feeling really weak lately and I decided I need to get strong, I'm probably a bit underweight too as I'm 6'2" and like 165lbs. The pic below was right after the day 1 workout 3 days ago and I am really fucking sore right now after my 2nd workout, I probably won't be able to move tomorrow. I figure I should track progress by taking pics every week or so and updating which might help motivate me further.
PS- I made a new friend. Her name is Lucky and I think she belongs to the new neighbors who are equally as friendly as she is. She must think she's in an RPG because she wandered into my house without permission and started snooping around through shit lol. She basically examined every nook and cranny of the house.
btw does anyone know if benching with a bench press is easier/worse than benching 2 dumbells? Because I dunno if I am just uber weak but I can barely do any reps of the smallest weight where as I could do at least double that before on bench.
Start with bench, end with dumbells, bench requires less technique and you can just focus on pushing but dumbells give you more functional muscles. I'm no pro, but that's what I've always been told :p

Depends on what you mean by worse, with dumbells you'll stress the stabilizing muscles slightly more than you will with a barbell, but as long as you hold proper form the effect on the chest should be the same. I'd go with a barbell bench press as the exercise is, in my opinion, much harder to preform incorrectly.
I'd recommend you look into either the Starting Strength program or the Stronglifts program, both focussed entirely on barbell exercises.
Dumbells are harder as they force you to have stability in all directions where as the benchpress is stable in 2 directions already (unless you are absolutely terrible) Also dumbells force you to use both arms equally.
The stick is 10kg.
There are also a lot of other things you could do with dumbells (work out like EVERYTHING) whereas the benchpress is only the chest.

no i know that, but I'm just talking about say 50 lbs each hand as opposed to like 42.5 and the bar 15. It seems so much more difficult, not just a little bit. It's just crazy how much the control issues matter.
So instead of like 80% weight using chest, it's more distributed to the arms like 50/50 or something?
If anyone cares to know the things I will be doing are: Lot of stretches and water Tricep Dips (Elevated) Pushups Pullups Chinups Curling Dumbell benching more stretches and then protein/fruit shake.
Oh shit, i started to work out again last night too. Well back in high school I used to work out all the time since I was in wrestling. Now I'm a fat slob lol and need to change my appearance. Im doing it different, i'm doing pushups and sit ups and sit up first.
Don't neglect your back and legs. I still think 60% if not more, comes down to diet. What you put in your body on your rest days, is what makes you grow. Not the lifting of the actual weight. It helps that one of my flatmates used to be a professional trainer (He trained kevin spacey, random) He's taught me everything I need to know about weightlifting. Put on a solid 14lbs of muscle in the past 6-7 months.
I started working out a month ago, I've gained 20lbs so far. I've been using dumbbells, but my work out consists quite a bit more than the stuff you have listed above (page 2)

Mix it up. Use a barbell in one workout and use dumbbells in another. If these are the only movements you are doing, definitely split them up and do them on different days. An easy way to do that is pushing one day, pulling another. Also, start doing some weighted pull ups when you are able to get 5+ normal.
Also, neglecting your legs if you want to get "buff" is a bad idea. When you do some heavy lifting on your legs, it will cause you body to respond by producing more testosterone which means more muscle growth overall. I think front/back squats and deadlifts definitely need to make it into your regimen. Maybe progress to cleans, jerks, snatches, but you need a bit of coaching for that stuff.
A couple others for you to think about: Shoulder Press, Push Press, Push Jerk, Bent over barbell or dumbbell rows, one arm rows using the bench, handstand push ups, toes-to-bar or knees-to-elbows... so many more...
Man makers- Get two dumbbells (depending on how strong you are, maybe start at 25? I do 50s and they will smoke you after a few), get in push up position with them. Do a push up, then a right arm row (in push up position), left arm row, jump up and do a squat clean with a press at the top. That's one.

20 pounds in a month? Jesus, how many calories a day are you taking in? Over 9000?!
I probably can't upload pics anymore as my phone is probably disconnected now. I could still take them and try to transfer the memory from my phone to a computer via memory card but I can't do it at my comp and I dunno if i have the sd micro adapter.
The title of this thread gets more amazing each time it changes!
Also, work some leg excessive in there! The funniest thing to see at the gym are the people who are yoked out of their mind upper body with scrawny legs.
Do Starting Strength. Anyone who's below a BMI of 25 or so (not including excess fat) will get the best gains off a beginner program that focuses on heavy compound lifts and linear progression. My friend I've been helping has put on 6Kg of mass, dropped fat and almost doubled all of his lifts in just about 4 months now. If you're dedicated and do the program properly, it works wonders.

yea I know you do, but I thought you needed to do some kind of special thing where you go into water to get an accurate measurement. I was just asking him to guesstimate. Cause what if I was 6'2" 250 but it was all muscle, that conversion doesn't know if it's fat so it'll say i'm over.

I got 26.5! I am a mild fatty, 5'11 @ 190. Would be 200 if I wasn't so lazy and exercised more.
Diet is a huge aspect of working out that's often overlooked, so find a decent plan for what you want to be eating and how much of it. Also, look into protein powder, fish oil, and multivitamins. (Don't bother with creatine at this point.) Don't forget to get rid of the soda, alcohol, and fast food.

i have whey protein, the problem with me isn't eating badly, it's just not eating enough and not exercizing enough. These aren't actually life choices though, kind of just a byproduct of being broke.
looooooooooooooooool at the title. And here I thought the apollo abs one was as good as it would get.
More on topic, for all you dudes with specific and a little complicated looking workout plans, did you start that way? Or were you just kinda doing pushups at home for a few months before getting weights?
I'm a little to broke to be getting my own weights or a gym membership any time soon, so I feel for ya CM.
If you can't afford weights or a gym membership I'd suggest you look into a book called "Convict Conditioning", focused entirely on bodyweight exercises. Some of them are pretty god damn hard.
I like how u used tires in that 2nd pic, thats a pretty damn good idea for people who want to save money on weights lol. But you've got quite a bit of work ahead of you man, good luck.
And i like that BMI calculator thing, I let out a sigh of relief to find out I'm at normal weight, this whole time I thought I was fat but really its just everyone around me is skinny.

wait are we rating his "single" visible nipple or is this like "rate all my nipples" in general.. because im not sure i can commit to rating both nipples without him posting a pic with both niples present. i would hate to make an uninformed decision.
The rate my nipples title was good, this is just as good. Got to give this a 5/5 cause of the titles. (This blogs tone was set with that godlike first comment)

Last one kinda brings it back on track, hopefully some more creative ones coming, although maybe they want CM to post some new pictures haha
Hopefully with all the title changes, it will motivate CharlieMurphy to hit the gym even harder. Hope you accomplish your goals and be able to start next year feeling good about yourself!
