I read these yesterday on stumbleupon... yes, they are very common, I have a copy on my comp, but you can get them from hundreds of sources, the one I used was: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/a/albert_einstein.html ^^ i'll edit with this in there. I find these overly simplistic. He may have been a great scientist but definitely not a great philosopher.

+ Show Spoiler + A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be. As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue. Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions. If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind. We should take care not to make the intellect our god; it has, of course, powerful muscles, but no personality. Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.

When the solution is simple, god is answering .. uh huhand very much agree with a few others; my favorite being: Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction. but most of them seem awfully handwavy to me =\ i guess i just prefer useful things

A knowledge of the existence of something we cannot penetrate, of the manifestations of the profoundest reason and the most radiant beauty - it is this knowledge and this emotion that constitute the truly religious attitude; in this sense, and in this alone, I am a deeply religious man. - Albert Einstein

It begs the question: "Does everyone think this way? Am I so uncreative?" or "Have I been shaped by these quotations without knowing it, by the way they have affected society even before I was born?" Depressing thoughts for an egoist like me. "A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be." I said this when thinking about a girl. I wonder if Einstein was thinking about a girl too

Sorry Einsten! God DOES play dice I'm pretty sure that towards the end of his life he spent much of his time working on a unified theory (that its unification between the quantum and the... fuck... much bigger). So I'm pretty sure he had a pretty good understanding and belief in modern quantum mechanics. Feels like a quote that needs context

I wonder if Einstein was thinking about a girl too lol you should be flattered that you share the same daily thoughts, remember that there are like 6.77 billion people in the world, and at the time, Einstein was the man. And yes, I'm sure he was thinking of girl as well. ^^

I mean, you simply read these quotes, and people will simply assume that these are Einstein's random thoughts, but behind each of these quotes is a man that most of us would be not be worthy to be in the building with, let alone room. These are not the quotes of some random person, each one of these quotes show me his playfulness, his character and a maturity that one day I hope to achieve. These are some of my favorites with what comes to me. The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education. Albert Einstein *If you are exceptional, standard education will fuck you up. Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love. Albert Einstein *I love this, Einstein is saying, something about the special place of love in our reality, that points to his really holistic inclusion of so many aspects in how he approached the world, I believe that in all things, he had the analytical side, the qualitative side, but also with the good of humanity in his mind, and of course, love. Intellectuals solve problems, geniuses prevent them. Albert Einstein *I am stunned by this, every time I read it. Only a true genius could make this type of distinction at this level. It is truly insightful. Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value. Albert Einstein *This in itself is gives me hope in what I do and how I have lived my life to this day. The man of science is a poor philosopher. Albert Einstein * Ha! The only real valuable thing is intuition. Albert Einstein *I reckon for my personality type, this speaks to me in volumes and it is because if you do have a well developed sense of intuition, it is probably the only thing that can keep you from losing complete touch with reality at times when society and your ego are not in sync with reality. The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once. Albert Einstein *Profound if you know what he was all about, so simple, humorous, but can be read on so many different levels, you can say, 'so what' or you could say, 'wow'... There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle. Albert Einstein *I've tried to say this in my own words, but he da man. You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein *Perhaps this is most applicable to my last post and the quote about striving to be of value,.. I'm sure if you've read through all my posts and read through these quotes, you notice, in many ways, they are one in the same, some of these quotes were more meaningful to me at different times of my life, While I did just wish to share this, I'm not the kind of person to simply post up crap for the sake of it, so I hope that these quotes may give you at least ease one day of some frustration. So I'm saying, Please don't assume that these are just self-help quotes or that each and everyone of these quote don't have a significance of years behind them, because they do. ^^

A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy? Albert Einstein 500 Billion dollars, a floor at tower palace, a two week long orgy with his four sons, etc... ? You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war. Albert Einstein "if he touches you im gonna go after him with a baseball bat" ?

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice." these are two of my favorites. My favorite professors are the ones that are capable of taking very complex topics and turning them into something straight-forward clearly understandable "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough." one of my physics professors would say this very often but i never knew it was a quote from Einstein

I am not only a pacifist but a militant pacifist. I am willing to fight for peace. Nothing will end war unless the people themselves refuse to go to war. Albert Einstein
