Just out of curiousity, which artists would you list as your influences?

Edit: I also find slightly older Tiesto tunes to be of remarkable production quality. Im not trying to revolutionize the trance industry here, im trying to make a mix that works. Unfortunatelly im not a perfected producer (yet ) and right now it is important to me that i stick with creating mixes i can keep control of, otherwise i end up with productions that is above my skill level to iron out. With a "safe" original mix it could instead open up posibilities for remixes to stir it up a bit. That's what i was thinking atleast. Edit2: You are right though, this mix IS done in 3 hours, but in my defence it is suppose to be nothing but a sample. The entire arrangement isnt even done yet, excluding all extra goodie effects and what not. I just keep putting up snippets because it makes sense to blog about, and possibly get feedback like what you just gave! Edit3: Thinking about it, you thinking i managed to get it to a level where it sounded generic might actually be a compliment under these circumstances ^^

Ok ok lets back off for a while. What I meant was with that Generic sounding comment, was that you can find these exact sounds and melodylines, vocals and what not in every other tune that hasnt gotten a release for the exact same reasons. Of course the releasing standards are way lower these days than lets say 10 years ago, which even emphasizes how much crap gets released these days. about the extra goodie effects. All the effects, extra modulations and little tweaks cannot save a song that has absolutely no soul and integrity. 80s and 90s trance producers knew that and they focused more on the basic idea and structure of the song rather than on some modulation of a synthetizer. Edit: I'm not saying that good stuff doesnt get released these days. I hate how you have to dig really deep to find one good tune.

And i do understand that you feel trance died in 2004, however, looking back at those days most that was released what total crap part from the few hits people raise to the skies today, and not even them were very good in their original state. Listening to my producer, matt laws, old track "binary finary - 1998" in original mix makes my ears bleed in all honesty... Edit: my point is that music isnt "worse" today, its just the same tunes in better packaging, and personally i dont see why people miss the days when it sounded worse... Anyway, im not really getting into a debate about trance now and then, because its just a argumentation set sail for fail. Cheers for listening and hopefully the mix will evolve in the way you describe aswell
