I don't know USC so when I saw the "Welcome to the Trojan Family," I thought you got scammed and got a trojan; but then I realized that was a picture. LOL. Congrats on getting accepted.

Either that or they seriously didn't take most/all of those responses into account. No idea; I never had to do anything like that when I applied to colleges.

Thinking of it from a business perspective, you want to accept as many people as possible. While you want to maintain an institution of academic excellence and can't accept EVERYONE, you can take everyone above a certain threshold of GPA, test scores, and transcripts. I can only ever see them using that information in the event of a borderline acceptance/denial or if you ever went in to meet with a school official they can look it up and use it as an icebreaker. Plus, now the University can say for certain using discrete examples that they have a diverse campus.

i personally didn't apply to USC but i hated having to answer those stupid questions on other apps. undergrad admission admins clearly don't give a shit about what my favorite food is, and my favorite books/movies/etc don't give them a better idea of my character in a holistic approach

Every single school says that/tries to give off that impression to be honest. A few of my friends worked in admission offices of various universities, and told me that almost no one reads the responses to the "fun" and "non-serious" questions lol TT
