How ironic that I titled this blog 'the last drop' - because now this really is the last drop of wisdom (or lack, thereof) I have to offer. Before we go any further, let me make this clear - this is my last post in TeamLiquid for the foreseeable future, and I won't be playing sc2 for a long time either. The last week has been one of the most challenging in my life and made me see more clearly than I ever have before. It showed me what was really important to me and now I live every day to keep those important things close to me. Unfortunately, that means my time here is over.
One thing I've learned over the last week is that if you want something, you have to reach out and grab it before it's too late. Don't be too chicken shit scared to want and go after the things you want. Last week I didn't, and by the time I realised it was almost too late (hell, it still might be). If you sit by passively and let the world wash you by then nothing will become of you. You'll just be another meaningless face on this planet. So step up and go after your dreams, desires and passions. You'll regret it forever if you don't... trust me.
So there's my last gem of wisdom. Hope it's useful to someone. I joined this glorious website back in October 2005, after a year of lurking. When I first started playing BW again after a Korean friend of mine reminded me of how awesome it was, a guy named eRaS pointed me towards TL and starcraftgamers.net as the best sc sites to go to. I lurked both, but eventually TL was the website that absorbed me. starcraftgamers, later gosugamers, just didn't have the same appeal to me. When Pusan made the OSL semifinals in So1, that was the final tipping point and I registered for the site.
I haven't looked back since. I lived at a boarding school for most of my life, and part of my daily routine was trying to find ways around the firewall so I could watch Korean TV. This meant downloading various Chinese programs to bypass it (ultrasurf worked like a charm for a long time) and looking for proxy sites so I could browse TL. I used to know them all haha although my standard go-to site was dongtaiwang.com. Dno if that still works these days!
I worked my ass off in highschool and I think I did pretty well for myself, and I shared that with TL. That became a common theme in my life over the next few years as I fell in love with the community. After watching SC for 3 years I had built up an encyclopedic knowledge of it and in January 2008 I wrote a blog a day for a month. These blogs were just about the little tidbits and facts that I had picked up over the years and by the end of it Steve/Mani invited me onto staff to write. That was one of the greatest days of my life. Of course then I saw the staff forums and was incredibly disappointed - the rumors are true, it is the most uninteresting forum here.
I wrote a lot for TL in 2008. You can still read my final edits in the Final Edit section. My tow favorites are without doubt "I loved victory" and "A State of Starcraft".
Also during that time a guy named Hot_bid had a crazy dream of running a Korean quality Starcraft tournament outside of Korea. He made the TSL happen and it was amazing to be a part of the journey. I still remember writing about the TSL with Daigomi. The writing staff at that point was so thin haha it literally was just me and him covering every league. Somehow we managed it and we did a pretty good job I think
Eventually my passion for writing subsided and I moved into a more administration role as head writer. I think I held that position longer than anyone else has, about a year and a half iirc. I also started leading projects or at least helping them along. Things like the Ultimate Progaming FAQ and Liquipedia are some of my claims to fame so to speak. I ran Liquibition for a while and that was a blast and worked on TSL2 as well. In 2009 some genius decided it would be a good idea to make me an admin, and i've been one ever since.
I don't want to drag this on longer than it needs to be, but I do have a massive list of people I want to mention. In no particular order....
Manifesto- you already know what an inspiration you've been to me. It was a pleasure to work the OSL with you back in the day. I hope your family is well
Hotbid- Still don't like you. <3
Corinthos- I remember watching your streams back in the day. Back then streaming wasn't an easy thing, and Corinthos dedicated his own server to relaying the matches for us. I thought you were a legend of the community and I never thought I would get to meet you properly - hundreds of games of SC/SC2 later and well, you're a good man. But shit dude, you need to study
infinity21- I don't actually remember how I met you properly, but I know I've worked along side you for a long time. I think I got you to do some translations for me at some stage as well. You're also an awesome guy, keep at it.
eRaS- you've been a good friend through all these years. Thanks for the mentoring. I know you're busy these days but it's good to know you're still a die hard sc addict.
Kennigit- it was a pleasure to work alongside you during the TSLs and when I needed shit for Liquibition. Keep being awesome.
R1CH- you're probably freaking out now that there is an admin account with more or less full access to a lot of the features on the site that has gone inactive. I expect for you to be disabling my permissions in a matter of seconds. Oh well! Thanks for the advice over the years, sorry for annoying you about everything and you do an amazing job here.
Chill- I got to meet you at blizzcon, that was pretty cool. But I'm going to be honest- you scared the shit out of me when I first join up haha. I avoided you like mad because I was sure you were going to pound the shit out of me or something. Oh well. I couldn't have been more wrong
Aesop- I left Liquipedia in the right hands. You've carried the project and the team well and it's inspiring to see what Liquipedia has become today.
zxk3- man, you've made more banners and artwork things for me than anyone else. One day I'll travel to Mexico or you'll travel here and we'll meet up for a beer or something. Stay strong man.
Silversky- my resident gfx slave. Dno what you're up to these days but man, you pulled through for me on so many occasions. Thanks for all your work.
alffla- thanks for working on the MSL all those years and helping me out that time (you know what I'm talking about!). I might be in hongkong one day in the future, I'll be sure to look you up.
The Mafia Guys; MTF, fusionsdf, Ace etc- fuck those games were epic. haha. Those were some crazy times, especially the second mafia game!!! All the best in the future.
Idra- I don't know why you ended up resenting me so much. But whatever. Goodluck in the future.
riptide- you've been more than a colleague to me, you've been a really good friend. You inspire me to be a better person, and I really mean that. I know life is tough, but stick at it - you're an exceptionally talented writer.
Ares[effort]- I only knew you for a short time, but damn you made me practice hard you're awesome, keep doing what you're doing and you'll go places.
Tabyling- I'm glad our friendship has lasted through SC. I hope you and your bf will be happy for a long time to come stop failing btw, you're wayyyyyyy too talented for that.
inSta/esunaga/hellonavi/whatever ID you are going by these days- Why ditch? Look me up next time you are in NZ, haven't seen you in forever.
adskjf;lakjdsf;lkjdsaf this is getting really hard
sonuvbob- I don't know how you know everything that was ever posted on TL. It's been good working with you
Neville- I don't know if you even read TL anymore. But whatever. I think I killed more hours on SC with you than anyone else - fuck yeah!
lilsusie- I'll never forget how you managed to score TL an interview with Pusan. As his (only) fan, it was really special. Thanks for being helpful throughout the years!
ret- I remember this one liquibition where I prerecorded it with Artosis as a trial to see if prerecording things could work. But then the recording fucked up and things were looking like a disaster. But you ditched your ToT clanwar (and pissed off mondragon) and casted it with me. That was pretty fucking awesome haha. gl in Korea man
SuperJongMan- I always looked up to you before I was staff, I don't know why! You don't post as much anymore, the forum could use you these days.
rekrul- one of my few claims to fame is banning you. hahahaha how sad is that
Naruto- I don't think I need to say much. We will talk soon, you're more than just a SC friend!
LosingID8- another Blizzcon veteran. You're an amazing guy and it was a pleasure working with you. I hope things are going well, you don't post enough !!
Zatic- wooo blizzcon. Glad to see that you're atleast semi-active again. SC2 pro-mod is one of the greatest april fools ever.
FrozenArbiter- yeah, I still call you that ^^ it's been awesome getting to cheer you on from the sidelines. If there is anyone who embodies the TL spirit, it is you. Everyone here is so proud of you, you're homegrown TL and succeeding on the world stage. Keep it up man.
The problem with doing these lists is that I'm sure I'm going to forget people and yeah, I probably have. And if I did, I'm sorry. Feel free to drop me a line if you like, it's always nice to hear from friends. But there is one more person;
Nazgul- thanks for believing in me and leading the site and team forward in such a honorable and respectable way. So long as we have you, hotbid and R1CH at the helm there is no stopping TL. Best of luck guys.
I've got tears in my eyes. When I saw the title in the blog section, I didn't think it could be real. I.. Can't believe it. I'm gonna chat with you on MSN still every now and then! If this is the best choice for you right now, more power to you for it. TeamLiquid.net won't be the same without you, though. I'm going to miss that waffle.
1) I wish you much success in your endeavors and in all aspects of life that you feel compelled to prioritize above TL right now.
2) Let's be honest: giving us this advice and this nice farewell message is a real let-down when you don't give us the actual circumstances :p
I'm not leaving but I just want to point something out... I feel like now is a reasonable time. Back when you first went through that period of writing lots of blogs (prior to being a staff writer) a few other TLer's and myself were commenting to each other about how impressive your contributions were and about how if TL is smart they will 'grab' you and offer you a writing position. We were all delighted when it came true days later (I don't think we actually had anything to do with that since your writing spoke for itself but who knows).
I don't really want to think about the ways in which TL would have been different without you.
PS if you ever need me for anything (not sure what you could need me for but hey) just let me know!
I'm sad we didn't have a chance to get to know each other better . We'll miss you ! Good luck on everything you plan to pursue, and thank you for all your hard work !
Wow, I'm not sure why this matters so much to me... I never knew you on any personal level but I have nothing but respect for you and your contributions; your powerranks were always the most fun. Best of luck to you in whatever you do, your presence will sorely be missed. Oh and 5/5 just for the hell of it
Best of luck with your life. It's so easy to think that the internet is real, when, for the vast majority of us, it isn't. I'm so happy for you that you've found something in life worth giving yourself completely to, whether it be a positive or negative thing, it can only serve to make you a stronger human being.
Thanks for all your hard work here, grab life by the balls.
Always sad to see someone go. Your last post was a really good read. Thanks for all the love and dedication you put into this community and the best of luck in the future.
i haven't been around TL.net for that long ( only sc2 ) but your posts have always been very intelligent and informative, i wish you the best of luck in life and good fortune in everything you do,
This makes me so sad. I love your writing so much and I have nothing but respect and admiration for the time and effort you put into this community. Truly inspiring. It was a pleasure meeting you at BC! I wish you all the best in the future, and hope to see you again some day - around here or in real life.
Thanks for all the great writing Plexa Although I only discovered tl 3 years ago and made my account ~4 months ago, I've every piece of your work since. Your writing skills are phenomenal and I, as well as the rest of the community, will be :'( that you're leaving. I hope you're just trolling--if you're not, best of luck in life (pursue a writing career; I'd definitely read your novels). Your work is an inspiration to me and (probably) the tl.net community.
P.S. Your PVZ guide bumped me up from platinum to diamond in 2 days flat
I'm sure whatever you funnel your supernatural dedication towards, you'll succeed wildly. I hope you keep in touch with us when you do find some time down the road. Best wishes, and thanks for everything.
I played one game of Mafia along with you, back when I had first joined TL. Other than that, I knew you only in the incidental sense, as a member of the community, but you were a valued and important member of this community. I often disagreed with your Starcraft-related opinions, but they were always expressed so cogently that it took me a while to even realize I disagreed.
It's always sad to see someone go. It can be a good thing to jerk yourself out of a rut (even as awesome a rut as TL) and start fresh, but that's not always an easy thing to do. Props for managing to do it, and good luck with the rest of your life.
Always enjoyed reading your work. You write "good"

Guess this is a private matter. I sure am curious tho what has transpired. Sounds extremely compelling and inspirational.
We don't know each other well, but I've always appreciated what you've done for the site. You're an awesome admin and person. That was a beautiful final post, and I hope you have the best of luck in the future.
Lol I just played a game with eRaS and when I told him you mentioned him in his blog and that you speak highly of him, he said, and I quote: "about time that loser gave me some recognition"
lol that was taken completely out of context, but it's funny how small the (bw) world is ^^
Anyways, good luck dude in your life, was always awesome to read your Final Edits and other many high quality articles!

Hey, that's not fair. That's not how it went at all.........
I love victory was one of my favorite TLFE (even though I read it 2.5 years after it was writen) and It has a lot to do with me being an oov fan today.
Good luck with what ever it is that you want to grasp.
As a newcomer I can only wish you great luck in your life and thank you (and all the other admin, mods and contribuiters ofc) for working so hard to make the TL and SC community the greatest in all the world wide web.
On a more sentimental note, I know we'll end up playing SC again in a couple of years, and it'll be nostalgic as heck. Though please remind me before we play that you like to proxy, in case I've forgotten.

Lol, I wanted to take a screenshot but host started the game -.-
You were so helpful giving me your perspective on the site's history. If that paper gets an A it's largely due to your interview, I think. Good luck in the future!
Your writings always amazed me and kept me interested in the korean BW scene. Although you do not know who I am, I know who you are, and I thank you for what you have done for the foreign community.
I hope you'll be back when the time is right. Although I didnt always see eye to eye with you, I appreciate all your contributions. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
Wow this is quite surprising. I always consider the admins and mods to be a consistent foundation for this site. I never think that someday they may actually leave. It's a sad day for all.
I'm sad I never got to meet you, I'm still constantly astounded by how much you were able to keep on your plate at once. I hope things go well in the future, Naz is right that TL will never be the same.
First when I read the title, my jaw dropped, and I screamed "WHAT!" My brother came into the room to see if anything serious happened. It was serious. Now we are both sad :/. Well gl with what ever your grabbing.
Oh man i was just in a state of bw nostalgia and then this post...I dont really now what to say. Big THANKS and I wish you the best of luck and please come back some day!!! even if it's only for one post.
I've really sad to you go, I've valued your contributions to TL a great deal, and while its sad to see you disappear, you seem to be leaving for the right reasons, if there is such a thing.
I was here to see you join our community and begin your blogs but I am really sad that I'm here to see you leave ;(
I don't really believe in luck but I wish the best for you in whatever you're choosing to focus on. TL is a huge place but you are one of the few people who can say you had a drastic impact on it. You won't abandon the bw fan inside yourself so I'm not too worried, you are a smart guy.
Though I haven't been on the site anywhere near as long as you have, I still see things that you contributed nearly every day. You're awesome, Plexa. GL HF.
Hah, this post has made me realise how much I really lurk TL... Even though I've only had an account for a short time (never had the confidence to make on during broodwar), and not made many posts. I've lurked enough, that this literaly brought a bit of a tear to my eye. The best of luck in all your endeavours, it is truely a shame that you're leaving, but no one could ask you to contribute more than you have already

To this day, my two fondest memories as staff on TL is writing the GSI preview with you (an article which I still think is one of the greatest on TL), and arguing with you about maps in the first TSL (although I got very angry at the time, it's a pretty fond memory now). I'm sorry we argued a lot since then, mostly because of me
Good luck with whatever it is you intend to do, you better make a success of it!

Plexa, I feel like you should do another TL attack with chill as the "pro" before you leave. Anyways, good luck with the rest of your life and I hope that you do come back!
I've nowhere been around as long as you have but it is obvious your presence will be missed by all here at TL. Good luck with all your future endeavors and know that you'll always have a place to come back to here.
I've only been here since August, but since I've been here, you've been the admin who's seemed the most accessible, visible, and approachable to me. If it makes any difference, I've thought you've were awesome, from your posts in the Ask TL Staff anything forum, to cheering for you against Pokebunny, to the still inexplicable (to me) waffles beside your name.
You probably don't know/care about me, but I still find it too bad I won't get to see you around TL anymore, or get to know you better.
What. Reading your articles was one of the main things that convinced me of how awesome TL is. You will be missed. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.
Grrrr I hate when people don't tell us why they are leaving but either ways, Im sure you have your reasons and I wish you all the best in the future. Thanks for serving the TL community, it won't be the same without you anymore .
Thank you so much Plexa for everything you've done for TL, and for encouraging me when I had just gotten the trial writing spot from riptide. Whatever is taking you away from TL I'm sure will take you amazing places, keep up the good fight and i'm sure you'll do well. Best of luck,
-One of the many grateful fans whom you've influenced in your time here
I'm going to miss Plexa's amazing posts and contributions around here. His "Is it viable" threads with whacky Protoss strategies were amazingly compiled and beautiful things to read.
The SC/SC2 community will really miss such an amazing person. I wish you the best of luck with everything. Goodbye Plexa!
Plexa leaving was still on my mind after reading this when I had the thought that his problems might be with his girl friend. I havent read his recent blogs to know if he has any (although even if he did, he doesnt seem like the person to admit them online). I thought it was because he posted a picture of himself and his girlfriend. There are many possible pictures he could have posted (for example, a picture of the TL staff at Blizzcon or something), but he chose to put up a picture with him and his girlfriend. Maybe its a clue?
The Mafia Guys; MTF, fusionsdf, Ace etc- fuck those games were epic. haha. Those were some crazy times, especially the second mafia game!!! All the best in the future.
But Plexa! Who is going to save me from bans now?
Good luck man, even though you haven't played with us in a while you will be missed. GL with your shit. If it was any other admin I wouldn't of even clicked the link best of luck.
Goodbye, sad to see you go. Brilliant writeups in the TSL-quals, hope the guy that replaces you will do just as good when the TSL starts. I see that you will prioritize different in your freetime, but why the complete exit from the site? :| Anyways, your choice, I'm sure there is a good reason.
plexa, i don't know why exactly but I always respected you most here on tl. you were so knowledgable, so logical and witty and at the same time talented at writing it was always a pleasure reading ur articles. i wish u all the best in life and hope u stop by from time to time
Always thought what you did for this site was amazing, in both quality and consistency! Good luck with everything.. in my head TL will always have plexa!!
Good luck in your future endeavors, bro. Thanks for everything you've contributed to this site ever, and we'll hopefully see you back at some point in the future!
I am at a loss for words. Over these past years you've poured in countless hours for TL and the community. I appreciate all the work you have contributed, all of high calibre. I don't know how to express my gratitude, but truly sadden with your departure.
Jesse, I wish you the best with your future endeavours. You're a great friend, please stay in touch!
Well, Plexa, I never really knew much about you, but seeing your posts every now and then was a staple of the TL experience for me. You will be missed, and we appreciate everything you've done for us.
I'm sure you'll succeed with your future goals just as you did on TL. I wish you the best of the luck, and although you won't read this, you've been a big inspiration to a lot of people including myself.
What does this mean will happen to the Team Liquid Attack invite I have for next time from him? I suppose I haven't been here that long, but I will miss you. You are 1 of the only 2 people to have PMed me
In the short time I've been here you have easily been one of the TL Staff that have struck me as quintessential. Best of luck with whatever you end up doing. I hope one day you may return once you are comfortable with your new life choices.
If there is a TL hall of fame, you should be on it. GL sir, I believe you wrote a pvz guide few months ago. Really helpful, thank you. You will be missed!
Good luck Plexa, I never knew you personally but I knew your name and respected you a lot from a distance. And thanks for your words of wisdom, it made me make up my mind about a dicision I was thinking about.
In the few months I've been here, I've always been inspired by how active the TL Staff and Mods were inside their own community. You all actively contributed and posted your own opinions, rather than hiding away in an ivory tower, and I always noticed that you seemed to be near the forefront of this effort. Your posts were awesome. You will be missed.
You were the first mod who helped me out with a thread I was doing: it was 2 gate stargate PvT in the SC2 strat forums. Thank you, I will always appreciate what you did for me (wow that sounds like small peas compared to what you did for everyone else).
You were a fantastic mod. GL with what ever you will be doing in the future
Man Plexa, we've never really ever talked, but I know how you feel. I did the same exact thing after my mom had passed away. I quit everything for a while till I got everything together. I hope the same for you and I hope you achieve even greater than that! Good Luck with everything that is ahead of you and stay strong!
Wow. It's hard to make those sort of "clean break" decisions; obviously right now that's the correct choice for you. Respect to you for keeping a clear head and doing the right thing.
Thanks for everything you have done for all of us. All the best with what comes next! <3
I will definitely take your advice, as I want to fulfill my hopes and dreams, or at least be able to say that I pushed myself past my limits in attempting to do so.
plexa I appreciate everything you've done for teamliquid. You probably have no idea who I am, but I want to let you know how much I, and many other people, have enjoyed your writeups. I wish that teamliquid could do something for you - like soccer parents put something together for coaches after the season - except not cheesy, but it probably won't happen .
best of luck in whatever you decide to do with your life next, i havent been here very long, but whenever i saw that blue bar and your name i knew that post was worth reading, that it would have something intelligent to say, thank you for keeping us all in check.
I haven't been around for long (since SC2, tho I played BW casually back in the days) and I'm still mostly a lurker, but I'd say you're one of the most active admin I've seen the most around here, sad to se you go Gl with whatever you'll be doing

Wow... This is sad, but I wish you that you would someday possibly return to us... always hard to see someone so dedicated to the community go. Take care.
Wow Plexa has been a huge member of the community, always present and having his hands in so many different projects for years. He'll definitely be missed. Cheers to you Plexa and good luck. I hope we see you again sometime.
I bet you don't remember but in like 08 I remember joining the iccup news team for a VERY brief time and I remember you were there at that time. I was only on iccup staff for like 3 months though and only wrote like 3-4 articles tops before I realized I was too addicted to playing to have any time for anything else lol.
One thing I've learned over the last week is that if you want something, you have to reach out and grab it before it's too late. Don't be too chicken shit scared to want and go after the things you want. Last week I didn't, and by the time I realised it was almost too late (hell, it still might be). Such great words of wisdom. Good luck with everything, and I really hope you find what you're looking for!
Thanks for everything you've done over the years Plexa, you will definitely be missed!
I hope all is well for you over across the ditch from me. Things have been very difficult for a lot of our NZ brothers over the last few weeks - and I really hope that it's not related to that.
Good luck and have fun Plexa. As a relatively new user, I just want to tell you know that your hard work is in part why TeamLiquid has been so enjoyable for me.
Farewell Plexa! You were like the only TL staff member I ever played a few games of Starcraft with. You were so friendly and awesome and we both kicked each other's asses
You will be missed. I guess I've exchanged a couple of PMs with you, but I don't really know you very well. Your daily blog entries were wonderful, as are your newsposts. Best of luck with your life.
I have only been on TL for a small amount of time, but you're one of the names I know clearly, and have a great respect for. I see it around most threads and have never seen a bad word about you. Will be a big loss for the community but good luck with what you're aiming for. Just from reading your thread here, I'm sure you'll make it.

I hope everything works out for you. I also hope you don't focus on regrets.
Good luck in your future endeavors. Your contributions here are eternal.
Ah, definitely sorry to see you go. Though i've always had a tiny little hidden resentment on your opinions of BackHo (he's so [no homo] cute!), I still have crazy respect for all the work you've put into teamliquid. If you are able to work as hard as you did in teamliquid as whatever you attempt to achieve in life, you'll go far. Best of luck!
Yeah when I first played through the campaign I went tech reactor, but on my second play through I purposely got the opposite tech at each step - hence my delayed revelation
You pretty much got the theorycraft behind that idea. Execution wise it's difficult since we don't have BW like precision just yet. Oh well I'll keep at it and eventually do something about it...
And no, your posts didn't come off as that
----------------------------------------- Original Message From DminusTerran: Yeah I understand what you mean essentially you're using the mobile warp prisms to replace reinforcement pylons, as you can get the units directly into the battle. With enough warp gates, a broodwar like ability to read the opponents general game plan and the near unlimited information gathering of hallus you're timing pushes would almost always be as close to perfect as possible.
Honestly though I didn't even really think about just the general value of using warp prisms in that manner as a staple. Kinda blowing my mind here brother. I only off race as Brotoss so I'm not really an expert =/.
Also I hope my posts didn't come off as, "My opinion is correct edit that shit into the op right now rawr!" I just wanted to mention it, because it hadn't been brought up by anyone else in the thread really =] and it's worth thinking about for players who aren't really using them.
P.S. I totally did use the orbital drops in the campaign. Marine medic'd my way through brutal like I was on a Sunday stroll through the park heh =]. Though I think reactortechlabs would've been better for ALL IN.

On November 13 2010 05:21 DminusTerran wrote: Excellent write up! I have a few questions about your seeming exclusion of my Zealot friends though? When discussing possible mineral dumps while going CSS, you didn't mention warp prism harass with zealots. It's an entirely mineral composition(or slight gas investment if you get prism speed) and can really put the pressure on the zerg.
Let me paint the picture for you. You're in one of those late midgame middle map standoffs that tend to happen where you're constantly poking with your army and the zerg attempts to hold off engaging as long as is possible. Warping a production cycle of zealots into one of his periphery expansions can really force a decision out of the zerg. He'll have to dedicate a decent number of units to defending or risk losing the hatchery. Allowing the Protoss player to perhaps get a opportunity to engage with his main army in some advantageous fashion, or clean up a decent number of drones/maybe deny a expansion with the drop.
Also zealots in the IST composition barely got a footnote which made me a little sad. Yes they definitely do not, "suck" against zerglings, but they also provide some other valuable functions as well. While storm is mostly the ling killer vs a muta linging zerg player. Zealots play a valuable roll of meat shield and escape mechanism. You don't really have any extraneous gas for sentries with force-fields when going any sort of Templar mix. Having the zealots to take hits while you pull back your valuable gas heavy units can usually pay out some sort of dividends.
Obviously against Roach Hydra they certainly aren't as good for the composition, but the still do play the roll of meat shield some what adequately, though cannons/expansion are probably the more valuable choice most of the time. Again though they deserve a mention in the warp prism harass category especially when going templar, as 2 templar and 4/5 zeals warping into a lightly defended zerg expansion can really put the hurt on.
Anyways, just my opinion, but I think warp prisms and zeals can be included a little more than was mentioned in the op. Especially since you already have the robo up and need some way to dump minerals. This seems doubly useful on maps where there is an island expansion, since at some point you'll want to build a warp prism to take advantage of that expo.
Edit: Holy shit I just noticed your icon is waffles damn I never saw that ><.
Well firstly, this is just an overview of the matchup not a complete guide I couldn't include everything. But I dislike warp prism zealot harass, even though I used to use it a lot in this matchup. It really is nothing mother than a minor annoyance. With good creep highways Zergs shouldn't lose anything more than a few tech structures at most (and with the HP buffs recently, don't count your chickens). 4 DTs are significantly better at killing things and doing what you want your warped Zealots to do. But of course, they cost gas... so you're back at square one.
Throwing them into an IST mix is certainly better than CSS, but even then, IST relies on forcefields early on just as CSS does. Typically the mineral surplus starts to accumulate around the time you have 3 bases running and are producing gas intensive units (templar, colossus etc). At this stage of the game you have to make a judgement call on where those minerals are best spent - throwing them into zealots may be just what you need or conversely, it may be better to try and get a 4th up. It completely depends on the situation. I generally try to avoid Zealots since they really are just supply hogs (much like roaches, except worse).
I get the feeling we're on the same page here, but I think I might as well elaborate on my point since you've given me the opportunity.
I wasn't really trying to emphasize that the drop needs to do serious damage. Around the point you're getting your 4th up as protoss in ZvP throwing 6/7 zeals into one of the zergs expansion while you distract him with your army movement can't really be bad. The zealots don't even have to be cost effective, because they're almost free units at that point. I also understand that this is an overall guide, but that's why I think warp prism needs a mention. They aren't actually all that good as a fundamental piece of your overarching strategy, but rather as a use for idle minerals and robotics facilities as you're waiting on gas income. They're harassing your opponents multi tasking abilities more than their actual infrastructure if anything. I have theorycraft which wants to disagree with you! Rather than clog up the thread with half-baked theory, I'm working on what I like to call the ultimate protoss strategy.
I think that PvZ will become imbalanced in favour of Protoss - even with the current patch. Why you ask? Two things - hallucination and warp prisms.
Did you ever play the campaign? Tell me, did you get the drop pod research? If you did, then you would realise just how useful constantly having your reinforcements arrive in the middle of your army - that's exactly what the warp prism allows.
Then comes in part two, hallucination. Hallu is a maphack, and in time, protoss will be able to get an absolute read on the Zergs strategy and know exactly how many units he'll have at X time and can work towards a timing attack.
Then you combine the two, you do a timing attack with a warp prism constantly reinforcing and you shouldn't lose- ever. And if by some chance he is safe at every turn, then you will have a death ball which is unbeatable.
muahahahahahhah xD
But yea, warp prism + attacking at the same time can be really good! Although I tend to prefer using that to reinforce my own army rather than use it for harass because I find that if you lose your main army then the game almost always ends in the Zergs favour unless you are able to do serious damage with it.
This was my only significant interaction with Plexa. I thoroughly enjoyed him revealing his master plan to conquer ESPORTS with his unique brand of warp prism play. To bad he'll never put the plan into action =[.
Take it easy man thanks for everything you put into this website we all enjoy so much. Best wishes with your future endeavors.
You'll regret it forever if you don't... trust me.
Such great words of wisdom. Good luck with everything, and I really hope you find what you're looking for!
Wow, completely, totally, shocking news! I remember thinking "who is this guy?" you became the mod with the lowest post count ever and watched you become one of the most important people to this site. That tells me from start to finish, you have put a lot of time and effort into TL as though you invested your life savings in it, which leaves me to wonder: what made you abandon that investment? Although this question tantalizes me, thanks for writing this blog. I'll definitely keep your advice in mind for the future. Goodbye, you will be missed.
I have nothing but respect for you Plexa, the amount of time you dedicated on this site and the amazing things you did, thank you for all of it. No doubt you will be missed by many and this place won't be the same without you. All the best to you and good luck in all your future endeavours!
Thanks for your dedication. TL won't be the same without. However, I find it hard to get sad since you're doing exactly what you want the most. Huge props to you for both realizing your dreams AND doing something about it! Good luck in all of your future endeavours!
oh O_O wow thats so unexpected, I wish you the very best of luck with whatever the future holds for you. You are and always will be a role model figure for this community
Good bye, good luck and thanks for all the fishes.
It's always sad to see such a pillar of the community leave and not just step back as an admin but stop posting altogether. Best wishes in whatever it is you're going to do and perhaps one day you'll be back as a regular user just for the fun of it.
Also best wishes for the person that has to fill your vacant admin seat. I don't know who you'll be but I'm sure you'll do a great job.
What the heck is this shit! Plexa you cant leave. What happened to you? Dont get some bullshit up in your head man. Seriously, snap out of your fugue... Talk a bit to MightyAtom and get back in the game. You were my fav admin. T_T Someone who wrote "Letter to the Sky" cant just get all soupy like this. This is just a bad joke, right? RIGHT????
You've always been one of my favorite staff members.
I have this friend who is really great at SC and SC2. By that I mean C+/B- AKA masters, even placing in top 200 a few times. But he is constantly "quitting" the game forever, then months later will come back, then gets way too into it and quits again. He is either "going to become a pro gamer" or "quitting because he is wasting his life". We all wish he would just kinna play more casually.
I don't know if that has any relevance to you, but I really hope you end up as happy as possible.
Thanks for never banning me, and all the great coverage!
GLHF
edit: oh fuck ya, this place is going to suck balls w/o the waffle icon. fuck.
You were the first staff member i really liked, because of your blogs, attitude and that sexy beast of a voice when you casted something TL-related (i think it was the TL-GGnet showmatch). GL irl. <3
i though to myself surerly if this is your hobby you can manage your lifestyle better to incorprate starcraft 2 into it but thanks to this post i finally realised that not everyone can.
understand why you cant do it eather . i would spend to much time fasnating on how good i want to get what level i want to reach in this game that it takes time away from real life so much so that it means you cant get a balance lifestyle.
so thanks to you for showing me the way plexa and just giving this up until i got the free time and achieved my goals hope you do the same ... .. PLEXA FIGTHING!!
Plexa, you've been my favorite staff member in TL.net.
I started knowing you several years back when you lent me to that mapdori account to help me complete a mappack for TL.net and since then it seems like I've owed you favors after favors. You've helped me immensely on sc2 whether its been giving me advice or analyzing my replays, and I greatly appreciate that.
I really hope that you can get through whatever it is that happened and I wish you best of luck in the future !
This is one truely sad day for TL. We just lost one of our best men... *sigh* Thanks for everything Plexa! Was a pleasure getting to know you and your awesome writing skills. Best of luck achieving your goals whatever they might be!
I don't think there's anything I could say that none of the posters before me already said that would properly express how much I do appreciate your work and you as a person. I just wish there was a lot more people like that out there!
This is ONI-EC_Ultima back from the old days, I remember how awesome it was when me and Siefu found out you got in as TL staff XD (it has on occasion given me the opportunity to gloat about 'once knowing a guy who works in TL' >.>)
If inSta by some magical chance manages to contact you, be sure to PM me his details too, I've always wondered where he disappeared to
don't know a damn thing about you, but i've been on a forum's staff before and i know how sad it is to to leave a community that you've spent years with. good luck in life
I don't know much about you but I do know how much time and effort you have put into this community. Best of luck with whatever you're doing, and since this blog post has inspired me so much, I promise I will try to be a better poster and maybe one day I can be half as great as you were.
Good bye Plexa. I hope you can still pursue that which you long for. Just wanted to point out that i used to go to sleep listening to the Xmas 08 Old VOD Night, hearing your commentating and watching that kickass selection was just priceless
Plexa! It's sad and shocking to see you go. You have been a staple at TL as long as I've posted here. Your blogs set a standard for quality posting here. And I've always been impressed with how active you are behind the scenes, in staff forums. You seem to have had a hand in every major TL project. So much respect.
Best wishes, and I hope you'll return to TL soon (I know you'll return eventually).
Wow :-(! I saw this just yet. You'll be around MSN I guess and hope? I'm at work so I can't read it all, but will read all at home. Your articles posts and just everything was always appriciated. Miss you and will be there when you get back.
~ until the hero returns
Forseeable future.. T.T! I hope that means less than 2 years T.T!
I hope the best for you. Your efforts here have not gone unappreciated, know that. I hope you do manage to find some time to drop in - even if it's just for a little while.
these threads always make me sad, even when its someone I really don't know all that well. knowing that they are assimilated so far into TL culture to warrant a goodbye thread means that this is a large loss for the TL community.

I remember the old mafia game you mention, it was what prompted me to register to Teamliquid. If I remember correctly, in that or the next game, I even successfully started a bandwagon to get you lynched as a mafia I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavors.

Bye Plexa, you have always been one of my favorite mods in the strategy forum. You have the perfect mix of patience and bad-assery. I wish you the best in your endeavors and I hope your life will be awesome even without Starcraft
I wrote a lot for TL in 2008. You can still read my final edits in the Final Edit section. My tow favorites are without doubt "I loved victory" and "A State of Starcraft".
I remember reading your Final Edits back in 08 at a computer downtown when I was at a low point depression of my life, it gave me a little to look forward to and the last time I had any remaining passion for BW or resemblance with the community.
I'm glad your moving on in life and reaching after the things that are important to you. I think it is a wise decision, SC is a double edged sword that while it's amazing to be a part off, it can also suck up your entire life & time, which is what I think you were trying to point out at start.
My petty words may hold no value on this site and I may be just another faceless name on TL, but I actually looked up to you Plexa, your blogs, posts and Liquipedia, I really enjoyed reading it.
I wish you the best of luck in the future of your life...

quitting TL means doing something else instead
tl is a social structure and some people eventually feel like they no longer wish to be a part of it for any number of reasons
plexa doesn't have to say why.
he's done a lot for TL. i didn't always get along with you plexa and I always felt like you never liked me but I appreciated working with you and I hope you have a good life. you're a good writer and you're a motivated dude, you'll go far. GLHF
I've always been more of a lurker but I've been a member of TL.net since 2004. I've seen some emotional threads here on TL but I actually kinda teared up a bit reading your goodbyes to people Plexa.
Nazgul is 100% correct, TeamLiquid.net will not be the same without you. One of the best Staff we have seen here since I have been a member.
Good luck with everything Plexa, if you are as good at everything else as you are at writing you don't have anything to worry about. Cheers!
Lots of respect to you, you've done an incredible amount of work for TLnet and with amazing consistency. I wish you the best in life, you more than deserve it in my book!
Eventhough i'm relatively new to this site and not very familiar with your work but of course it's sad to see an admin go inactive on this amazing website. I just read one of your final edits, a great read. So I want to wish you best of luck, your words of wisdom won't be taken lightly, I completely agree, I supose many others as well. Take care Plexa and good luck in your future, what ever it may bring you.
Best of luck in real life! I have been a member of the TL community for only a few months, but still really appreciated all your hard work. Hope you will eventually be back! :D
Thanks for all YOUR hard work Plexa. Gonna be lonely around here with nobody telling me all the stuff I need to do haha. Good luck in all your future endeavors, hopefully we'll see you back here again.
I remember your awesome reports and articles from the good old BW days. You will always be remembered, to me, as someone with pure passion for starcraft and this community.
I can only say that you will be missed. It was a pleasure reading all your work, thanks for what you did here and enjoy your life ! Good luck in any future project, we hope to hear from you someday.
From one of the new blood that have flooded this site since SC2 arrived, but one of those who sees the incredible tradition of quality that this community has established, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being one of the people who made this place what it is. I've only been here a few months, but I've already come to recognize yours as a voice that commands respect. It will be missed.
Plexa I think you are one of the most knowledgeable posters on TL about BW progaming and I think that of a very select crowd I remember you from your early posts back in 2005 praising Pusan and later on Kwanro. I remember being very impressed of your blogs a couple of years ago thinking "how can this guy post so much and yet seem so well read and knowledgable?". The blog about July was my favorite.
I havent been spending much time on the forum the last 1-2 years or so but I see you are an administrator now and apparently have been for a while so there's no doubt people will remember the hard work you've done on this site.
Thank you and good luck in your life!
EDIT: Also, who can forget the massive response on your "Boxer should quit starcraft" blog
We will all miss you. I think he needs to stay on the list of admins for all his hard work. Maybe if it's just an honorary admin, he deserves to be known by the future generations who never got a chance to talk to him, or meet him, or even see his name
Aw Man =( - I may not exactly be a frequent poster, and I certianly have not been around even nearly as long as guys like yourself... But I felt so sad reading that post. Good luck man! I hope things work out for you. If you do ever get a chance to read this, know that your post is making me think about a lot of things currently, thanks a lot for making it <3
TL feels a little bit darker now =( - Once again, Good luck man!!!
Bye Plexa! Have a great life, and enjoy it. Live it to the fullest, and never forget a day that goes by, is one day less that you have, to make it a kick ass one. <3
I haven't been here very long, but I've lurked throughout the past years. I'm sure I can speak for everyone here when I say we all appreciate what you've done and who you've become in this community. I'm not sure why you're leaving, but I hope that it's not too late to reach for what ever it is. You're writings have always been great, even beyond that. You've been a great member and more to the community Plexa.
We'll all miss you so very much. Live your life to the fullest, and I'm sure you'll go far.
Plexa's article "Letter to the Sky" from 2008 is my favorite piece of writing on TL. It's an inspirational story about NaDa dealing with the loss of his father, and it's the reason I will always be a NaDa fan. Thank you Plexa for so many contributions.
I've only been hanging out on Teamliquid since SC2 came out, and Plexa, you are the one person whose posts and articles I've looked forward to the most. I actually went back and read a lot of what you wrote, just because of so many insightful posts I just happen to stumble across.
You will be missed. Take care and good luck, have fun!
I always enjoyed that your ideals and integrity shined through your posts.
There is no justice in the world except for the one we stand up and act for.
You've done just that in our little community here.
I remember a post where a member opened up is heart, asked for life advice in his sexual situation. He seemed to have a small penis, the first post where ignorant, unhelpful and somehow of evil. You acted quickly, stopped the thread from derailing. Sure it might have been a troll, but if it wasn't which it seemed to be, you helped this man who opened his heart from having bits of it taken from him.
I wish you a happy life, hope you keep your integrity intact.A moral life which leads you through the unhappy parts
Goodbye, Plexa. I may not know you personally, but what I know about is the tremendous contribution you gave to TeamLiquid. Thanks to your efforts, newbies and veterans alike in TL have a community which they can be proud of and can call their home.
I will never forget the last drop of wisdom you imparted to us, I will take it wherever I go. Good luck in all your endeavors. With the strength of character you have shown us, I have no doubts you'll make it in the path you have chosen.
Best of luck with whatever you have found. Although I am a relatively new member I have browsed teamliquid since the beginning of high school and was always impressed with all you did for the community here.
Wait what.. WTF men.. i was hoping to see you online today to share something and then bam this happens?! wtf.. T-T Best of lucks, really, someday ill go to kiwiland and you better be up for some BW/SC2 matches
Please tell me what proxy - bypass sites do you still use or can u suggest things like that? I am having the same problems of struggling to browse/ visit TL.net too since our company blocks those "non-work" related sites
I was listening to this as i was reading your post and almost shed a tear . You will be missed and please visit once in a while even if you are only lurking!
I never actually liked Plexa too much, but damn, he was a pillair of TL for sure, it s sad he's gone I feel bad for bashing on some of his map-analysis and typos in his writeups back in the day GL
In my short time using TL, you've probably been the admin i've seen the most of. Considering you've been around for 5 years thats a pretty impressive feat. Shame you're going, i'm sure you'll be missed.
You will be missed! I hope everything works out Great for you, and i hope one day you may return to the community! Thank you for your part in the TL community which is by far the best community in all of SC.... and your a damn good part of it :D
Plexa gogo! But I'm sure you're reading all these comments, do what you gotta do, but come back in a couple of years, I know TL will be waiting for you.

You will be missed Plexa, even the little people like me will notice a difference now that you're gone. I don't really know if it is possible to thank you for all the time you've contributed through one measly post, but I hope you know how much everyone here appreciates you- all the replies in this thread should show you that. Much love Plexa, and good luck in whatever the future brings
Good Luck Plexa! I know its tough to break away from a community like this. Just know it'll be here for you if you ever need it. Best of luck with everything.
I've lurked this site for a very, very long time; and you have always been one of my favorite posters. Thanks for all of your hard work and best of luck to you in the future!
Now I'm confused, is this just your last Blog Post? Because I have seen a couple posts after this, and it seems you are still a little active around the site
Fuck, I can't believe I missed this. Plexa, I only knew you for a brief stint as a practice partner but you were by far the coolest practice partner I've ever had. I remember seeing your name on the loading screen in a random ladder match and going "holy shit it's the admin on tl". You were so friendly and asked ME to be a practice partner, while I was trying to figure out how I could ask a writer/admin of TL to be my practice partner. It sucks to see you go, even though I haven't talked to you in months.
Your writing was awesome, your quirky builds were awesome, your dedication to the game/TL was (and is) awesome. I moved on to WoW (big mistake) for a little and so I guess I'm kicking myself for missing this post and it's sad to see you leave, but I guess it happens. Good luck in your endeavours but I'm sure with that attitude of yours, life is going to be a walk in the park.
