I've been watching this show nonstop all week, and now I find myself listening to the music constantly, waiting for the new episode to air on Friday. Catchy music, happy themes... Also, it's written by Lauren Faust, wife of Craig McCracken, of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends fame.
The characters are likable and easy to relate to, and the moral at the end of each episode makes me feel my inner child again. The simplicity and innocence of the show makes me realize how too focused and irritated I get with everyday life, whether it be from studying or video games or work. I have to say, my nerdrage has probably dropped by a factor of 10 since watching My Little Pony.
i really wanted to post something with some biting sarcasm, but then i sat through the video with my mouth open pretty much dumbfounded. its like it magically turned off my brain.

I haven't gone down that road yet, but Lauren Faust and Craig McCracken are geniuses. The two cartoons they've done so far are easily among the best of their respective generations (Powerpuff girls and Foster's Home), So I wouldn't be surprised if it's good.
I'm sure there are many others who share some sort of way to keep their inner child. Anime comes to mind, although their demographics range all over the place. I do find it a bit unusual that you chose such a show, but I also think it's sorta nice that people actually do find a little peace in these "childish" things.
I actually kind of bought in to this after reading a thread about it and watched the first episode. Didn't get a thing out of it-- it might be a non-shitty kids' show, but that's all it is. If you really like kids' shows then this is right up your alley but otherwise you can just brush all these super-fan-theads off.

if you are going to try it out you should not watch the first two episodes - they are the worst two episodes i would recommend watching 3 (will introduce you to the characters) and then 16 (my favorite episode overall)
I'm deeply ashamed to admit that I watched both the OP video and second posted video in their entiriety. And then I proceeded to read the wiki and lookup videos of Fluttershy. (She really intrigues me -- mostly 'cuz she's very similar to an old friend of mine, and also there's something about soft-spoken shy girls that strongly invokes my curiosity. Why are they so shy? And soft-spoken? And freaking, why are shy girls the cutest and prettiest?)
yeah, other forums are abundant with pony activity. Especially over the dr hooves pony. And I have to admit, some funny background stories (like the existence of stalliongrad and Trottawa).

*seeing MLP avatars* - "what are those?" interest in MLP : 0.5

People thought the episode where the moral was "You don't have to understand everything in order to think it's true" (15: Feeling Pinkie Keen) was about religion, and blindly believing it.
These people are wrong.
It's really about accepting that you're 19 years old, in college, and yet enjoy this show and have no idea why.
anyways, my top tier has to go pinkie -> fluttershy -> twilights -> rarity -> rest but rarity is really pulling up the ranks with her newfound love of hats. Twilight has been stagnant for quite some time.

i was confused when i was working at target and multiple younger adult males purchased my little pony merchandise and suddenly i see that it's exploded among young dudes online

and spike is the biggest piece of shit loser character i've ever seen on a tv show.
You know I watched only the first two eps and I thought to myself, meh it's an okay show, I can see how it's really wholesome and actually enjoyable to watch for younger kids. But I was really confused why everyone's favorite was pinkie pie since she seemed so shallow and annoying.
I just finished ep 15 ... this show just really grows on you, slowly but steadily... just a couple eps every night... it grows on you! (And pinkie pie is by far my favorite character now!! She's actually genuinely funny and a likeable person!)

You know, that's what I thought at first but it gets to the point that there are way too many people in this for it to be a troll. I'm tempted to actually watch the thing but I'm afraid that it's flashing frames calibrated by some evil neurologist trying to control the world or something.
the most recent episode was really bad, but the one before that was really good but soon there will be the season finale and then i will have to wait a while before there are more new episodes ;_;
In episode 21 "Over A Barrel", is the bison chief's voice done by Chris Metzen? I can't find any credit given to this part's voice actor at any movie/TV database. It's driving me crazy....
The quality of it sounds so much like Chris' part as Thrall, that I find it hard to believe that it would be someone else.
I was very angry about something that happened in class 5 days ago. I don't know what compelled me to do so, but for some reason I watched the first episode. Fast forward to today, and I've almost gotten through the series; for a second time. I love this show. Awkward conversation I had with my roommate the day after he and his girlfriend were watching something on TV while I watched MLP on the computer.
"so... what's up with the my little pony" "I like it" "so you were just straight up watching..." "yep" "why?" "It makes me happy" "seriously?" "I don't know what to tell you. I was very angry, then watched 8 hours of ponies, then I was happy"
I don't even know why I like the show. I can name elements I like (I love the facial expressions), but none of them really capture why I keep watching. I'm excited that this got renewed for a second season, but I'm disappointed that it probably won't be released until winter.
I've had winter wrap up stuck in my head for the past 3 days, and my favorite one is fluttershy. That is all.
it looks like it completely BUTCHERED the original my little pony. the original was FANTASTIC. i even had my own my little ponys for my birthday when i was young. honestly i wonder what my parents were doing half the time. but ya the original is fantastic, imma find some clips

'Looks' like it butchered? I'm guessing you didn't even give it a chance.
Usually when things are remade, they aren't as good as the original, but it is not the case when it comes to the new My Little Pony show. The Hub knew what they were doing when they were setting up the show. Also, Lauren Faust, the producer, was a fan of the original My Little Pony, I believe.

I'm not sure if this has been posted, but I really don't think that reading through it would be good for my personal sanity, so I'll just share this and leave.
I don't know about you all, but I am more intrigued with the community rather than the actual show. Don't get my wrong, I think the show is probably the best cartoon in the last decade, and it's nice to see a girls cartoon that has characters with actual personalities (instead of the usual fashion-loving high-maintenance main characters).
But the thing that has kept my attention is how nice the actual community is, and what they all do because of this show. For example, a lot of the first fans of the show came from /co/ or /b/, and those boards aren't exactly known for their kindness, but you go over to Ponychan and those same users are all about love and tolerance. It's like the opposite of 'John Gabriel's Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory'.
You add ponies to the mix, and the outcome is basically the opposite. It's quite interesting to see something like MLP change the internet for the better, as seldom as that happens.
And then there's all the content that the community churns out. I've never seen so many parodies on Youtube that were created by a single thing, which in this case, is a TV show. A lot of really high quality art has been produced too. I can't say anything about fan fiction though because I don't read them at all, but I've seen quite a bit of it produced as well.
I just find the effect of Ponies on the internet so intriguing.

I visit equestriadaily pretty much every single day : 3
This video has made my day (MLP: FiM fighting game anyone?) and has cleared all the doubts that this show has one the best fan communities ever (besides the SC fan community heh) in terms of high quality fanmade stuff getting created every day.
also, despite the fact that he didn't ask me to, going to take the time to link Bibbit's My Little Progamers blog here because I thought it was awesome and most posters from this thread had probably not seen it yet: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=234247
