So I wanted to write a blog about taking the opportunities life presents you. For me making connections and taking advantage of what could potentially be something really great has always been difficult. However, over time, I've learned that when something presents it self, and its something you could have some positive input in, you have to just go for it. You can't fear rejection, it will always be there, but it's not worth the cost of missing out on something great.
My most recent example is something I am currently working very hard on. My girlfriend works for Shakespear Dallas. I was talking to one of the actors at a cast party and he told me that he had been working on a musical about the Alamo, however, he didn't know anyone who could write the music. I was scared to put my self out there, but I saw real potential in his idea, and I didn't want to miss out on being apart of something awesome. So I told him I was a musician, and I could put a few songs together if he was interested. It turns out, he was very excited about someone finally offering to help!
Now, as I go back to furiously practicing flamenco guitar until my fingers bleed, I'll say this: I'm well aware of the fact that he may think my music is garbage and that he may not want to work with me at all, however, I'm not scared of it, because at least I tried, and I never have to go on wondering what could have been.
Good Luck in all of your endeavors, and Have Fun with life.
