No one likes a Lagomancer.

Bah, Blasphemy! =D
Good luck in your adventure, holy one...
Also, if you don't want to waste a ton of time farming gear, might want to get rid of the "boss-drops-only" rule...

Damn hammerdins still give me nightmares.

Bow Amazon = Zerg
best char = best race!^^

The non-boss drops only will make it hard for an act or two into the first difficulty, and then you can just farm them for good stuff. That said, if you can pass the first act with beginner items only... Anything off the ground eg. first belt that auto equips gets taken off or included in beginner items? If it's the latter you have a chance.

if a belt drops from a boss I can use it

I like the idea, though i doubt you'll handle Duriel T_T

Yeah but a random belt will drop before a boss will drop one, and you will need to get money for potions somehow, said belt would be de-equipped?

You might want to clarify your rules, a few are pretty confusing.
And...
Wait what?
So you can only kill mobs ONCE? As in, you can't just remake a new game to farm for more mob exp?
... Even if you full clear, I still don't think there's enough exp for you to progress through the game.
I'd say prove me wrong, but then again there's no one to hold you accountable;)

I'd say prove me wrong, but then again there's no one to hold you accountable;) He's on players 8. He'll be level 30 before he hits the end of Act 3.
Although I think I was replaying large sections of the map to get that high level on my players 8 game...
He is allowed to farm Andy though, so once he gets past Act1 he should be in the clear as far as decent loot and level are concerned.
Also I just reread his rules. It does say Full Clear, but does that just mean no running away from enemies or does he have to hunt down an kill anything in an area he walks into...?
|
There's definitely enough xp to go through the game. On my first actual playthrough of the game, I got to like level 33 in early act 4 because you kill a LOT of monsters by playing through all the quests, instead of just rushing through.
|
ohhhhh....good memories I might play it again just for fun
|
Seems like the merc is gonna do most of the job.
|
Normal is easily doable (extremely easily), Nightmare will be a pain, and I don't think Hell will be possible. I've done similar (nothing exactly like this) many times and Hell, at least since v1.10 which came out years ago, seems impossible decent gear (not great gear, and not a great build, just decent gear) and a decent level. I wish you luck and hope you have fun, because D2 is always a fucking blast.
|
I solo ran with a holy shock din once. It was hilarious to see entire screens get cleared just by running through them. Then I hit nightmare. Got stuck around act 4 Are shockadins viable in hell without good/high end gear...?

From what I can tell, he has limited boss runs.

How many times do you get NM Andariel? is it 1 or 6?

Really? Nightmare has always been by far the easiest act every time I play through, twinked or untwinked, spelcaster or otherwise (though spellcasters makes NM almost trivial). Though the equipment restriction might complicate things. I still believe Normal will be harder than NM. Fighting Duriel with only whatever Andy happens to drop is gonna be rough

Depends what you define as good. Guardian Angel armor was the best piece of equipment I had on my Shockadin. Definitely not high end, but I consider it somewhat decent

Cool idea! I didn't know Holy shock was that effective. You'll have a hard time with light immunes.. I just started playing on a necromancer on hc classic (europe) myself.
If some one wants to play pm me, there is like no one playing - wich is kind of good, no bots, no pkers. (I'm lvl 65)

I beg to differ...me and an online friend are duo-ing D2 Hell Unleashed and if it weren't for my summoner necro we'd be long dead. Meat shieeeelds.
We can't beat Duriel on normal TT...

You can reduce duriel's damage using cold resist aura and thawing potions, but even then I think you'll die (on normal). IMO take out the no picking up items rule, but it's your funeral.
edit: I died to hell fangskin a few days ago. Gonna try again tonight with full fire resist, full 75 (25%) block rate, high level vigor aura, a single cloak of shadows, and running to the altar before they can kill me to death T_T. I hate how it's impossible to pull monsters anymore.

I tried wasting time the last 7 hours, and I find this blog NOW sounds amazing, I think I will give it a go with a summoner

No using items except for act bosses? Are you insane?

I don't really understand how Nightmare would be easier than Normal, but it may just be a difference in playstyles. Using the default weapon against Duriel should be easy, but will take some time. A merc alone will destroy most of Normal on its own. Most of normal can be done by simple melee -> pots -> portal -> get more pots xN. In Nightmare, you'll start getting one shot more often by bosses, making that not work. Nightmare melee is going to be hell, no matter what skills you have. Hell will be unbearable. I could see using the beginning weapon all the way through Normal pretty easily. I've played through is so many hundreds of times, I guess I am just used to portal and potioning forever.

ARe you referring to me? Or to him? Because Hell Unleashed is a whole different can of worms than Diablo 2.
It's like Diablo 2 and Baldur's Gate mushed together...the boss fights take like 5+ minutes with a 2-3 man party, and most of the time you're chugging potions like mad.

What kind of merc name is Divo? hahaha
Good luck!
