Then, I noticed 4 or 5, then 6 or 7. Then, the sky got a little darker. I was like, hooooly crap, and sprinted inside the store. About 15 minutes later, several hundred bees all alighted on a single branch on a tree next to the dock. They made almost a perfect ball, larger than a basketball. What the heck did I witness, jimminy? Also, to add to stings stories. When I was a kid, I had a bumble bee slam straight into my head and get stuck in my hair. The thing ended up stinging me in my head and DANG did it hurt. I was skittish as crap when I heard buzzing for a while What you saw was a swarm of bees moving to a new hive. I live near some groves of fruit trees, so bees are pretty common around here and I've seen that happen a few times. It's crazy how loud they are. A lot of the time they will stop in some place for the night and all clump up together in a giant ball of bees. + Show Spoiler [Bee Ball] + As for the OP's question. I've been stung twice, both times from stepping on them by accident. Hurts pretty bad at first, but goes away quick if you aren't allergic. I've been told the best way to remove the stingers is by scraping the area with a credit card, never tried it though.

Not once in the ~10 years that I've lived here have I been stung by any of them (actually, well, once, when I stupidly brought my lawn mower over to their hive in the farthest corner of the back yard and damn near touched the hive without knowing it - got stung multiple times but it was less hurt and more startle). They're really completely harmless unless you get all up in their face (more than bumping them) or intrude on their hive territory. African bees on the other hand... my house was kind of like this as well. wasps, and not as many. but it was still scary as hell and you never know if theyll react to you. i started using these, never had an issue with nests around my house anymore. they still visit your garden, they just wont make a nest as long as these are up.

Even those little spiders around the place can be hard to kill. Never had trouble with those fragile bees and wasps though! Giant spiders made out titanium? I don't care if they only exist halfway across the world fucking kill me now.
