Eventually, the concept of the "Erdős number" arose. Paul Erdős has an Erdős number of zero. Anyone who collaborated with Erdős has an Erdős number of 1. Anyone who collaborated with someone who collaborated with Erdős has an Erdős number of 2. And so on. We can transfer this concept to the world of Starcraft by thinking about the people who have beaten Flash. Flash has a Flash number of zero. Jaedong has a Flash number of 1. (link) iNcontroL has a Flash number of 2 (he beat Jaedong in a practice match at one point if I recall correctly) Superiorwolf has a Flash number of 3. What is your Flash number? Cool idea, but keep in mind that the Erdős number comes from an academic publication-- not "any old" thing that you coauthored with someone (the MathSciNet collaboration distance calculator uses publications indexed by MathSciNet). So most people don't even have a number. But once you publish in a math journal, you probably now have a Erdős number since it's unlikely that all of your co-authors didn't already have one. The SC parallel would be beating someone in a formal tournament, not just on ladder or in practice. Not everyone has been in a money tournament, but once you have gotten a few wins you're pretty likely to have established your Flash number. Perhaps the TLPD can have a Flash number calculator added?

Safely, I have a Flash Number of 3. I imagine I might have a 2 though, because I've beaten a few Koreans at least once who might have beaten Flash, and then you also never know who has beaten him in SC2. So, conservatively 3, hoping for 2 o.o

Use to be a High-Masters/Mid-Gm player. Bound to have beat someone who beat Incontrol.

No one claims to have an erdos number who has just written a book, nothing to do with math, but still involves writing. It HAS to be a mathematical paper, as I think this should HAVE to do with BW, regardless of wither flash plays sc2 or not. (this of it this way. Gaming is the general field, just like writing. Math is the specific thing that give you a number, like the specific game would be.) The number is in relation to his utter dominance in BW, as it was with Erdos and his prolific writing of mathematical papers. Also, one should consider the possibility of WHEN incontrol beat jaedong (anyone know about when this happened?) Was it after jaedong beat flash? or before. Because if It was before, doesn't that mean incontrol doesn't have a flash number?

Its all meant as a joke, Incontrol beat both flash and jaedong (so he should be number 1 not 2) on ladder when they were still rookies. Also because requirements are low (bw or sc2 does not matter) the probability of someone on this forum having flash number will be relatively high. If we made a strict rules almost no one would have flash number here.
