Hello! :D
So I made this a while ago, but now I'm ready to post it! I've also re-made my personal food blog (which you can see here: http://kierpanda.wordpress.com/).
I'm still going to cross post most of the content on my TL blog, so don't worry missing out on any recipes.
Anyways, let's get to the important thing: FOOD.
This is a spin on the classic French Toast dish. It's basically a peanut butter banana sandwich dipped in French Toast batter. I also gave it a nice SC2 related name!
INGREDIENTS
- 6 slices of bread (I used sprouted whole wheat bread, but feel free to choose regular white bread)*
- 1 cup of peanut butter
- 1/2 cup of cream (I used soy cream)
- 2 bananas
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 tea spoon of butter (not shown)
- 1/2 tablespoon of powdered sugar (not shown — also optional)
- 1 cup of blueberries
- 1/3 cup of Grade A maple syrup (or the purest syrup you can find… don’t get syrup with additives in it)
*Note: Sprouted whole wheat bread has a very distinct flavor. You can still taste hints of the "earthiness" of it even with the batter. I typically choose sprout whole wheat (or just regular whole wheat in general) for my recipes just because I'm somewhat health conscious.
PROCEDURE
- Crack your two eggs into a bowl. Whisk eggs.
- Add vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon.
- Whisk in your cream.
- Transfer the mixture to a shallow dish. This will be used to dip the sandwiches.
- Place a skillet on high heat.
Slice your bananas.
- Spread peanut butter on each slice of bread.
- Place bananas on one peanut buttered slice. Place another piece of peanut buttered bread on top to make a sandwich.
- Place butter in the hot pan.
- Place your completed sandwich in the egg/cream mixture. Let it soak for a few seconds and then flip the sandwich over to coat the opposite side.
- When sandwich is fully coated, remove it and place in the hot pan.
- Let the sandwich cook for about 1 – 2 minutes on each side, or until the side is golden brown.
- Remove sandwich and place on a plate.
- (OPTIONAL) Dust with powdered sugar.
FOR THE BLUEBERRY MAPLE "CREEP SPREAD" SAUCE
- Place a small pan on high heat.
- Add your maple syrup.
- Add in your blueberries.
- Reduce heat to medium.
- Let the sauce reduce. The sauce will begin to turn purple when it’s done.
- Remove from heat and plate sauce with the toast.
And you're done! :D
I took some time and made a zerg stencil. Just print out a zerg symbol and cut it out. Once you've done that, place it on the toast and dust powdered sugar on it. Hooray!
Oh yeah, I never posted about this, but I managed to meet MC at E3 (my boyfriend and I were on business there -- we both work for gaming companies).
omgomgomgomg it's MC
I totally nerded out. I saw him walk into a cafe while my boyfriend and I were charging our phones at charging station.
It pretty much went like this:
Me: omg, babe? Is that MC? him: Huh? Me: GO LOOK. I THINK I JUST SAW MC WALK BY. GO LOOK. boyfriend goes and looks, discovers it is in fact MC. he is buying lunch with his translator him: It's MC! Let's get a picture with him. me: OK YES.
my boyfriend asked his translator if we were interrupting and if it was okay to snag a photo with him. Translator gave us the OK. Photos were taken and we wished MC good luck in MLG.
SORRY MC FOR BEING CREEPY FANS. ): You are just rad, so if you're reading this, thank you so much being awesome to your fans . <3
By the way, that was my first time meeting a SC2 pro. It was pretty awesome. I took a picture of me and my boyfriend after meeting him and we have like the dumbest grins on our faces. yeah. D:
|
Definitely gonna try out this recipe one of these days.
|
lol MC looks adorably complacent. That's a cute trick to make dusting stencils, thank you for sharing it.
|
I ate peanut butter and banana sandwiches for a time when I was unemployed. :D Looks yummy
|
To be honest...My parents have made this recipe for so long and we've always called it "Poop sandwiches".. Delicious nevertheless.
|
I think MC was hungry for his lunch lol.

No problem!
I used the same trick to make a Terran stencil for creme brulee:
Except I totally failed in the fact that I neglected to consider that sugar melts and loses it form heat is applied... Yeah. Oh well.

Hahah! I am definitely not the first or the last to make up a peanut butter banana french toast recipe.

Yeah, I definitely felt bad that I was interrupting his lunch purchasing. ): so I tried to make it as quick as possible. No autographs, just two pictures. I'm sure he gets that a lot from fans.

Good lighting, accurate use of 'food porn' (no vegetables or bullshit ingredients), 5/5
but -1 for bad cropping

Thanks! BUT YOU HAVE BEEN FOOLED. My front teeth are decently straight, but my bottom teeth are a little messed up. ): I've learned to just smile like that to hide the derp which are my lower two front teeth.

no, that's such a weird crop of the french toast
what reason is there to cut off the corners?
it detracts from the deliciousness of the image

Laughed way too hard at "poop sandwiches" though this does sound delicious. Will have to hit this up. Thanks!

4/5 OOH. Such a vegetable hater.

Whoa fantastic blog :3
Looks delicious. Waxangel has it right, accept no substitute for real food porn. So mean about the cropping though ;__;
So awesome you guys work for gaming companies, and on top of that you get to travel around and meet MC and everything! Nice.

It feels kinda starnge having a TL page in my food blogs favorites, but i've never been disapointed
However i note that procedure step 1 to 4 are the same than 5 to 8 . Error on your part ?
|
yeah i can't see where the peanut butter is used. Might just be an error:D
|
HOW DARE YOU TOUCH ... the MC.
|
|
Just tried this, its not bad. I think it would be better without the peanut butter though, peanut butter and banana tastes weird.

It's mainly to fit the standard image size I use on my blog; 600x400. But the original photo does have the corners cut. I think I only picked that picture because it was the least blurry one I took with the symbol. D:

Yes. D: Fail copy paste, but it has been fixed.
Thanks guys!

Looks awesome! :D
Now I'm hungry.
Btw, use to center your images.

Oh god that sandwich looks delicious :O

I'm going to try this. I have some peanut butter left in the fridge ... dunno what to do with it, so this sounds as good as anything. :O
Plus, French toast. :3c

Hard to maintain dat Snorlax body eating vegetables.
|
wow I thought i was the only one who used the term "food porn". I use it for the show: diners, drive-in and dives because the food looks trashy but tasty and I always feel drity afterwards
|
That looks delicious
and IrOn looks a lot bigger than I remember.
|
It looks tasty T_T thanks for sharing the recipe with us kierpanda and congrats in meeting MC !.
|
maybe this is why mc looks odd ...
ps. the french toast looks great!
|
|
When I first saw this I was wondering WTF was a "french toast" but know I get it : It's what we call "pain perdu" litterally "lost bread" because you usually do this when you have stale bread.
Your receipe is indeed br00tal ^^ I might try that with a few friends (my GF definitely wouldn't handle it ^^)
|
wow you have beautiful eyes!
also recipe looks awesome. will try it out definetly!
|
I made this the othernight it was very very good, however i didnt have blue berrys so i put some strawberry jam in it and it was great :D
|
I just made these this morning and they are amazing beyond belief. I just wish my bf wasnt allergic to nuts so I could make it for him

Oh Wax, you're my favourite. We need a 'Waxangel's definitive guide to food pornography" post, mostly so I can 5 star it.

I do the same... but I whisk the liquid ingredients in with the peanut butter and bake after lightly frying once. A trick my wannabe chef sister taught me. Make the insides of the bread softer than just frying.
Also... MC looks hilarious <3
|
is that powdered sugar? it looks more like zerg to me
