Arugula is amazing when paired with beef. Glad to see you doing this in a sandwich, nonetheless.

It's kind of a bitterish and tangy salad green.

I also called "Rocket" sometimes (outside the US).

You can cook the meatballs on the stove. :D
|
I've only ever seen it called rocket 1 place in London. Everywhere else it's Rucola. I was completely dumbfounded by that name.
|
I think you missed the bread crumbs in the ingredients, but nice recipe!
|
This reminds me of meatball-marinara from subway. My favorite...

this is more obnoxious than anything I could have posted, high five o/
honestly tho, how can you argue with more fat content in anything?

I've actually never heard of this, but I just googled it a few moments ago. It seems interesting, but according to this article, the process takes 4 hours to set. ): But I totally understand how that will definitely make the meatballs much more flavorful.

the 4 hours portion refers to transglutaminase

Nice, I screwed up meatballs a few days ago, made them too big and tried to fry them. Will have a crack at this.
Never new Rocket was called Arugula in the US, I presume it is pronounced
aHHHH-RHOOOOOOOOOGUUUUUUUUU-LAAAAHHHHR.
Hard to comment on how rediculous it sounds but we call it rocket, lol.

If it compares to this in any way, I might give it a try...
For those that live in or near Portland, OR, this is the meatball sub from Shut Up and Eat. I recommend never going there, because once you do, you'll want to live there, and they'll take all of your money.

just tried to make this. doesn't look as good but tastes amazing. Cheers to you for this one

Probably just in the mixture for the meatballs. It won't make too much of a difference without it though.
---
You can do a pretty nice Gnocchi gratin with this same sort of set up. Make your meatballs up and a nice tomato sauce, cook up some gnocchi and stir it into the meatballs + sauce. Put it in a heatproof dish, spread strips of mozarella over the top and grill/broil for like 5min. Just serve with some basil over the top and a nice salad on the side. Maybe a bit out of season now though =)
|
I just made these. 5/5 because I can do them and because they didn't taste like donkey ass like most of the food I cook. Marinara sauce was a bit hard to get, but I got by with tomato sauce with garlic/olive oil. Didn't know what to do with the worcestershire sauce so I just sprinkled it on top of the meatballs before mozarella. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In retrospect I probably should have added it to the meatballs.

Gonna try this anyway, by the way, looks soo good. Derp ): Sorry, I've corrected the recipe. The worcestershire goes with the meatball mixture. T_T fail on my part.

@_@ omg gnocchi gratin. That stuff is delicious. <3 Thank you for the idea! I'll add that to my list hahaha So many things to make once I'm back from my mini vacation!

There is a place in my home town that does a meatball grinder very similar to this except they slice up their meatballs multiple times so that they cake it on as like layers. Also, my secret ingrediant for a meatball grinder is to add black olives if you like them. Sooo good.
|
I just thought I would stop in to say I made these for me and my girlfriend and we both loved them! Had the leftovers for lunch the next day! Definitly going to be a meal staying in my cook book , now I need to try the other things in you blog

Don't get me wrong, the binding-ground-meat-with-salt discussion is cool and all, but what's really interesting about this post is that the linked page has an ad sidebar for a sketchy dating site specifically for foodies. The future is now.

Made it for dinner today, used thick slices of homemade bread, made my own marinara with fried onion and garlic puree, oregano, Worcestershire, soy, salt, and pepper; reserved some marinara and mozzarella for the top.
The meatballs turned out a little dry, I don't know if I overcooked them or made them too small. I'll be more careful next time. This was definitely fucking delicious, though. Thanks for the recipe!
