There was a thread explaining this and discussion about it here if you want to read: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=364640 Basically, DotA has a long estabilished scene, LoL doesn't. Also, shortage of LoL staff members on TL IIRC. We still do have a small LoL community, but mostly EUW+NA, not really in SEA/Korea/China.
I think it's also just one of those things that caught fire while others did not. Lots of little factors that snowball and boom: Dota2 > LoL on teamliquid. Why did McDonald's beat Wendys? Just the luck of the draw, timing, etc etc etc. But the points made above make perfect sense too.
I play LoL myself but the first of the genre I watched was Dota2. Why? Tobiwan Kenobi (caster). Some big tourney was going on and this guy blew me away with his casting. I was just curious to see what all the fuss was about and he got me to stick around for a weekend. So, ins like that. Who knows how many people got hooked by him and others.
As for it being too casual, they could be joking or haven't played it much (or at all) and just say it for whatever reason they've chosen. I've played about... 400 games, mostly support and every once in a while, I get the shit pummelled out of me by the other bot lane. And then I think, if this is casual, then what the hell is going on in dota2?? This guy just flattened me and it's not even ranked!!!
well TL also has now invested into dota (i.e. has a team) so at some point the upper management decided to invest in dota rather than LoL for business or personal reasons.
before TL got investments into it I just thought some staff/writers personally liked dota 2 more, and if tl is going to have a game officially "covered" they need to have a dedicated and competent writing staff, liquipedia editors, someone to put events on the calendar, etc etc. All that is really done through volunteers and TL needs to see evidence of people who are going to commit to permanent proper coverage; no knock on LoL forums of TL but some veteran TLers were/are quite active in these things for dota 2 and that certainly helped elevate TL's opinion of dota2 coverage I imagine
Let's not turn this into another LoL vs DotA 2 bash guys
Pretty much what the rest of the people said: DotA having a more established competitive scene, and probably the fact that most veteral TL staff/writers being into it more than LoL (they can't start covering a new scene without being sure they have people who'll be dedicated to it).
Who knows, we might get a LoL expansion in the future, that'd be pretty cool as well ^^
Until that happens, the LoL sub-forum is pretty active (almost as much as the DotA 2 one so far), so don't let that turn you off or anything

Anyway, stop rating my blog 1 star. What the heck happened? Stop being so mean to a girl!
Here is the LR thread for the games themselves, but it's not particularly active since not too many people watch the games live. The first playoff match starts tonight so you can see if you can catch the games on an OGN stream. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=378578
An equivalent to Liquipedia was created for LoL so you can always look there if you want to find out more. Info on Korean LoL is a bit hard to come by though since not too many active contributors speak Korean. http://leaguepedia.com/wiki/OLYMPUS_Champions_Winter_2012-2013

We have the LoL subforum and you're welcome to talk with us there.

Huh? Most people i know that dislike LoL dislike the game(And the people behind it, like pendragon), not the fans.

Agreed. I really hate riot. Although their way of supporting small tournaments was fantastic and I kind of wish Valve would do the same thing. The problem I have with LoL is that although you CAN play a lot of heroes more than one way, there is a definitive best way to play almost all of them and doing otherwise is wasteful and can/most likely will cause you to lose.
I still enjoy playing it but I like DotA2 a lot more. I'm biased though as I played wc3/DotA for quite awhile.

Ingame tournament tickets that directly support both small and big tournaments.

He's right though. LoL barely allows flexibility at all, if we compare it to other games in the genre. Not that it doesn't allow it at all, it's just so miniscule compared to the other games.
Wow I didn't know proA.June91 even has an account on Team Liquid. She's very popular in the Vietnamese gaming community, and I admire her work very much ^^

I disagree. TL will by overweight if they try to add more games to the "official" TL list of games. 2 games is the maximum in my opinion for quality sake: imagine the work time needed for all the home page announcements and dealing with all the LoL newcomers (which would be by the thousands, LoL is super popular)... It would be unhealthy for everyone in the TL community. And for the FIFA13, it just doesn't fit the game style of TL.

in-game tickets don't support small tournaments... wtf are you on about... if they started doing that it would be great though.
Edit: Although back on topic MakNoon is a monster and he is the only LoL player I'd watch.

But they do, i'm not sure what YOU are talking about. Depends on what your definition of small is. atoD is a small tournament to me, it was supported. Ontop of that i'm pretty sure valve would gladly let small tournaments have tickets if they approach them. That's what it's all about, approaching valve. Just like with team couriers and player-specific items. People just have to contact valve and take the matter into their own hands.

AtoD was run by and backed by a large organization. a lot prize pool does not mean it's small. Not even the ROOT invitational was a small tournament. You gotta go to NLGS level. Those organizers gain nothing from putting on tournaments and gain no help to do it either.

I think people need to remember this is largely a community site so in order to have content, the community has to make it. The current content creators are focused on BW/SC2/Dota2 because these are the games they enjoy. You can't just have the great BW writing team convert to LoL and start producing stuff there. LoL fans understandably want content, but they're part of the community so they should be the ones making it.

Yeah, I totally understand the circumstance =( so I hope someone could please provide the content for all of the fans to raise the average awareness for all of us! Right now, watching Korean LoL makes me feel so dizzy since I dont know who is who, what is happening and how it is going. If there are more and more coverages, I hope I could contribute some even with my limited English :D

From what you wrote, I wasn't sure if you were aware that we do have users from the TL LoL subforum making content. Unfortunately, we're still very insular atm. @_@ Hoping to change that next year.
Well I was ignorant of it (ignorant of most of the forum these days tbh) but my main point was about the idea that "TL should do _____" as if it's a separate entity from the readers. TL is the readers so anything TL should do, people should volunteer to help do it.
