About my gaming understanding and TeamLiquid
+ Show Spoiler +
I played SC2 (protoss) casually for about 3 years (since it came out until I finished college. I was high Diamond, low masters depending on the season. I follow every thing Liquid so when they got a Dota team I dropped LoL like it was hot and started playing/watching Dota. I watch 90% of TL's matches (Dota and SC2) and even do it while I am driving (I know not safe) I watch/listen to close to 6 - 8 hours of Dota a day during work (web developer) and home. I have played about 130 games of Dota and am not the best but not horrible either. My friends have always ragged me about watching 4 times the amount of games that I play but I feel that it gives me a basic understanding of how hero's work and how different play styles play out.
TC is best when he is on a halfway farm hero, what I mean is that TC plays best with a hero that needs farm but not one that needs to exclusively farm in the early game. Lifestealer uses farm well but can also join fights early and make an impact, on the other hand specter is a hero that requires a lot of farm early (radiance specter needs a lot of farm for the relic) and doesn't really kick in until she has the relic and radiance. TC (and liquid) play best when he is on hero that use farm well but can have an impact all the way through the game (so mostly mid game hero’s).
Hero’s that fit TC play:
Lifestealer, Dragon Knight, Ursa, Lycan , Tiny, Slardar and Luna
Qojqva is probably one of the 5 best 1v1 Dota players in the world. Seriously this guys ability to win a 1v1 lane is insane. I think Qojqva is best when you put him on a hero that uses farm extremely well and has kill/play making potential. When he plays Shadow Fiend his farm is stupidly fast, also he tends to not die a lot which helps him get the farm he needs. Qojqva is one of the few dots players that is just good in pretty much an situation, afk farming, diving people with Queen of Pain, split pushing with Prophet he can pretty much do anything.
Hero’s that fit Qojqva play:
Queen of Pain, Shadow Fiend, Storm Spirit, Natures Prophet, and Kunkka
The play maker, bulba plays best when he has a hero that allows him to dive and make plays. Everyone knows how good of a clock player bulba is. He is good at tanky play making hero’s (more Axe games please!) Basically Bulba is the initiator of the team.
Hero’s that fit Bulba’s play:
Centaur Warrunner, clockwerk, Magnus, Brewmaster, Tusk, Bristleback, puck, slark, batrider and windranger
Demon is a playmaking/roaming support, he likes to get kills and force engagements. He is great on mobile supports that can make things happen by themselves or with one other hero. He needs support with either a stun or a lot of damage.
Hero’s that fit Demon’s play:
SandKing, Doom, Tidehunter, Wraith King, Treant Protector, Shadow Shaman, Vengeful Spirit and Mirana
Wayto is really good a supports that keep people alive. He excels when protecting the carry, stacking and defending the tower. When he is allowing others to pressure towers and he is keeping TC alive it gives him the freedom to call the shots and Liquid seem to have way better movement when he gets to play like this.
Hero’s that fit Wayto’s play:
Crystal Maiden, Visage, Ancient Apparition, Bane, Shadow Demon, Witch Doctor and Dazzle
TL has not really solidified their play style yet and I think that is what is hurting them, they are mixing 5 protect 1 strategies with pick off strategies with push strategies which ends up with a pick off and then going back to farming, which doesn't really accomplish much.
So an ideal draft for pushing would be:
For a pickoff strat:
Well thats my general thoughts, this is mostly to put down on paper what I have been thinking but feel free to give your thoughts on what I have said.
All of that being said, GO LIQUID!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOT
