i'm obviously biased because my family lost a lot of money over it and my dad had to fight and risk his life in a useless war that shouldn't have happened, but i still don't agree with britain deserting her colonies so easily at the drop of a hat. they care nothing about honor or loyalty, only public perception. at least the american empire has the balls to annoy the world while assisting countries like korea and vietnam against aggression..
queen victoria would have everyone thrown out if she were alive to see the way they were acting I don't really think korea and vietnam are similar and I'd argue that american actions in vietnam were significantly worse than any british non-action following decolonization. I doubt it, British non intervention has left it's (ex)African Colonies in some horrible combination of corrupt war torn poverty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_of_Agent_Orange_on_the_Vietnamese_people

The starting point kind of matters, you know.

Damn, I was under the impression that all Caucasian Zimbabweans had already left the country. To read that three generations of your family still lives there is really surprising to me. I hadn't heard that the US dollar was on the way out again, that's a shame.
It sounds like you passed through three crises: land appropriation, hyperinflation and extortion. Underlying all that has been a continuous level of neglect by the ZANU-PF leadership of their country. They do not seem to be patriotic in the slightest.
I was really disappointed when ZANU-PF "won" the 2013 election after the power-sharing government. I guess Zimbabwe really is a dictatorship now. Your situation puts me in mind of immigrants elsewhere, they have to keep entirely out of politics too, although it depends on the country as to whether they lose their heads over it.

A currency which is based on sexual practices and male orgasms would never hyperinflate.
How proficient are you with the languages spoken in Zimbabwe and South Africa?

What a terrible situation, Idk how a society can recover when the skilled, educated, and powerful people flee in order to protect their families' livelihood. When those skilled/educated people leave, the vacuum it creates on a society, it just snowballs out of control

queen victoria would have everyone thrown out if she were alive to see the way they were acting The United States required the dismantling of the British Empire as a condition of American participation in the Second World War. Doesn't make it okay but it is what it is. Oh I didn't know that? I assumed they had to dismantle it because they were so overextended because of the War.
