It starts with just how crazy the topography is. You are driving over what feels like endless flat land, famers fields and so on and then you approach the "bad lands" which is basically a canyon made from the river but with a unique ground that allows you to see each layer and where many Dinosaurs have been found as it was once a sea that dried up.
When you get there there is more picturesque sites right at the museum and a 1 hour interactive walk, we did about halfway through after lunch.
The inside is amazing here are a few pictures but they do it no justice, there is something amazing about their in person, the size and authenticy. They organize the museum from all the different time periods, they even have a section where you can watch the people working on new fossils.
My last couple photos are from "hoodoo's" which really make you feel like you are back in time or some where far away, so strange to be like a 5 min drive from the prairies.
This location is a 10/10 the only reason I could see someone not enjoying it is if they are terrified by dinosaur bones or hardcore creationists who do not want to believe dino's are real, because it would be super hard to believe this after seeing all the evidence in person and so expertly presented.

You have probably heard of Banff, but this is about the same distance in the other direction from Calgary and I would say more impressive, carve out a day to see it! Also, if you want mountains Banff is great, but SO SO commercialized and busy. My suggestion is go to Waterton and maybe sneak into BC to the Fernie area. You will get the same or better mountain experience for half the cost and with 1/10th the tourists.
