I have my self pegged for a promotion which will mean extra 12-16k a year plus a car and expense account. All I am waiting for is one of the current reps to retire and boss to find a replacement for me. I'm thinking 6-8 months.

Seriously. Anyone with any problem/issue with Comcast let me know and I'll see what I can do. If you're in MD/VA/DE, I can do just about anything for you, other areas, I'm a bit more limited but I can still give advice. Btw - Thanks everyone!

It also depends a lot on where you live. In some areas 44k is great at your age/etc. I am like a year younger than you but do very well... at the expense of: I can't afford to live away from my parents right now XD.

I've been at this job nearly a year and am going to be asking for a large raise soon. I'm pretty nervous, despite having good backup for everything I'm asking for. It won't be no 50% though -_- That shit's crazy.

It's really a cultural thing. Germans are very direct people and such a question would not be considered offensive. As a matter of fact it's like the first question people ask me when I tell them what I do. OP: Congratz on the raise!

Also, is this a rather average or above-average salary concerning American standards? How long do you work per week? I hope you don't mind these questions, I'm just really curios about American working conditions, since I don't know much about it. Educational process - Nothing special, just the standard training they offer (6 weeks) plus some prior experience. Salary - Most definitely not above average, pretty standard I think... it will at least allow me to start thinking about a house instead of living in this apartment forever. Hours - 40 hours a week. Pretty standard for any full-time position in the US (except for Zil).

He nagged and I eventually did, he then got pissed off that I was making more money than him, because he had been at his job longer... he still hasn't got over it.
