So I'm in my third year in college, and my animation teacher saw me playing starcraft before class on the school computers.
So he challenges me in front of the whole class to a starcraft 1v1 battle, to which I of course accept.
At first I thought it would be a cakewalk since he probably doesn't know that much about the game and I'm D+/C- level, which is well above most bnet pubbies.
However, I've been hearing from upperclassmen that he played starcraft exclusively all through college, and that a company he used to work for (Buck) had starcraft tournaments weekly.
Lol I'm a little worried, the game goes down at 10 PM EST (3.5 hours from now)!
Wish me luck! It's gonna be PvP
UPDATE: I won 2 games in a row and he said I was out of his league ^.^
Here's the replays guys! He was a BGH noob, but oh well it was fun http://www.filefactory.com/file/4b3661/n/0007_OrBP_genghisPanP_rep http://www.filefactory.com/file/54eb5d/n/0006_genghisPanP_OrBP_rep

is the game gonna be played during class on a projection screen? that would be awesome.
anyways, playing starcraft exclusively through college and having weekly work tournaments doesn't exactly always translate to skill...

10 PM isn't exactly class time, so no. We are planning on putting it on the big projection screen though. There are always at least 10 people in the animation lab working, and we've been telling everyone to come, so there should be a pretty nice audience (though probably only a third or so will understand what's going on).
I'm a little worried about the possibility of accidental cheating tbh. If we put it on the big screen, either one of us could see in the corner of our eye or turn our head to see what's happening, and even if we don't, if people exclaim things like "Oh a templar archives!!!!" or "Hey why are you building your pylon in the middle of the map?" it could obviously cause problems since we don't have sound proof booths ;P
That's why I'm planning on playing relatively standard to avoid getting screwed by spectators.

Lol awesome.
I remember this happened to one of my friends and he got the guy to come on bnet and play vs a bunch of people, fun times.

Post reps! It would be good to know the map he wants to use, you should try for something like Python or Lost Temple, in case he has a favorite map that you've never heard of. Also, you might be able to make some assumptions about his build order, based on when he was most competitive (although I don't know if PvP has ever really changed very much). Good luck to you ad your prof!
|
Better hope hes not a FMP player otherwise it will be very awkward =p
|
Haha man why doesn't my teacher challenge me D:
|
you better win!! but don't own him too badly or hands behind the curtains on your marks!

Im sure youll kick his ass.

Ask him about progaming, if he doesnt know about progaming then its a good chance you can beat him easily.
|
bo5 and game 1 reaver drop, dt, or cheese. Easy way to tell if he knows what he is doing.

My IT teacher in school was actually playing Bnet for years, years and years. 3v3ing on Hunters with his friends mostly, but he didn't refrain from 1v1ing either. He was a really cool guy as well.
Playing with him on IT courses / after school (with a few friends and other random people from the school) fueled my long-existant thrist for getting StarCraft for myself, at home.
This is sooo awesome

How long ago was that? Low level Starcraft skill has increased so much in the past few years (especially since ICCup became popular) that if that was more than 3 or 4 years ago, tournaments like that shouldn't be a big deal.

Haha guys thanks a lot
I will DEFINITELY post reps when it is done.
[quote=TheYango]How long ago was that?] I think it was only like 3 or so years ago. Still, the company he worked at (Buck) had starcraft tournements weekly, so I doubt his skill has diminished much lol.
Lol we forgot to discuss maps, I sure hope he isn't a fastest player or something.

man what college do you go to that is so baller of your prof to do that

Northeastern University. Yeah my teacher is fucking awesome. He's completely straight up with us it's hilarious, like in the first class he was like "so what year are you guys?" And we were like "Middlers" (northeastern is a 5 year program cause it has a co-op internship program during your time there... so it goes freshman, sophomore, middler, junior, senior), and he's like "oh yeah that's just about the time I dropped out of northeastern.
LOL
It's great cause he dropped out cause he was super talented and didn't need the degree to get a job at a great animation firm.

ill laugh so hard if u lose

PS POST REPS
i'm thinkin I might do that strat first game if we do bo5 to try to get the advantage, but on the other hand if he's only mediocre, all bad to medium level players 2gate so he'd probably be able to hold it off.
|
|
he'll suck don't worry about it
|
|
Hahahha thats so awesome!
Wish my teachers played sc too, dont forget to post the reps!

Yea, he probably sucks. even if he doesn't i'm sure his builds aren't current.
|
You might want to let him win.
|
Reaver harass crushes noobs. He will probably try to do a big zealot push once he has like 12 or something, comp style. So watch out for that. I say dark archon rush into maelstrom + psi storm hell.
|
Wooooow he is the b"est teacher ever :p
But anyway you have to rape him to save Tl honor.
|
Lol guys he's a BGH player he just told me.
We're gonna do a bo5 loser chooses map, we'll start on python.
It's going to be hilarious, if he's a BGH player I''ll rock him.

I like how in game 2 you had 23 and 30 kill reavers at the end...which weren't even damaged.

don't be so facetious all the time. there's a difference between teaching at a college, an elementary school, etc.
