So this thing happened to me back in 7th grade, I just remembered it now because one of my friends brought up the pokemon subject. Anyhow here is how this story goes, and keep in mind this is all real and im not making this shit up:
Summer after 7th grade, I just bought a new GBA game : Pokemon Emerald. I go home, charge the batteries, and then but the cartridge in and woohoo im in pokemon land! I played 6-12 hrs a day for 2 days, I was too addicted that the only break I had was for lunch or dinner. However, on the morning of the third day something weird happened, I started hearing pokemon music in the background....
At first, I thought it was just something because I was playing so much. However, it kept going on everytime I am not hearing anything such as around the time I go to bed. I couldn't sleep or concentrate on anything well for the next 2 days. Then I thought, this cartridge must be satanic and since I named the character in the game after myself, it is doing some weird shit to my head. SO I go on and delete my save, but the song is still stuck in my head. This is the gameboy song that plays when walking throughout a city or a road...
So, I had enough. I go to my dad and tell him I am hearing shit through my ear and cant really concentrate nor sleep. My dad then takes me to a doctor and the doctor checks my ear and said this: Son, did you go swimming anytime this week? Me: Yeah I did. Doctor: Well it turns out there is water in your right ear from swimming.., and what happened was that you were playing that game soo much that the sound got in and started bouncing because the water doesn't let it go out. Me: What.... So how do I get it out?
So eventually he gives me a medicine and tells me to sleep on my right side. The next day, I cant hear the sound anymore . Then I threw out the cartridge and said to never again play pokemon on GBA with its music on!
|
Haha, nice story. I didn't think that was even possible, wow.
|
Pokemon got stuck in your brain.
|
to be honest, that doctor diagnostic sounds a little unrealistic o_O wtf?
on the other hand, i played that game a lot when in 7th grade
|
You never needed to get medicine in the first place lmao - just sleep on your right side is all you had to do. Hahaha I remember like 7 years ago, I was sooo addicted to SC, I played it ALL day. Whenever I was out with my friends, I would hear the siege tank sieging up sound randomly throughout the school afternoon. It was ridiculous
|
real men were addicted to red/blue!
+ Show Spoiler +then yellow(fuck yeah surfing pikachu)! then gold/silver! =( also the Stadium games for N64... and pokemon cards... and the card game game for gameboy oh my god
|
tbh pokemon red had the worse pokemon sketches ever made. Zapdos looked like ^%$#
|
But the Pokemon music is so catchy!
|
Am I the only one that loved the red/blue/yellow music that appeared @ Lavender town? Man it is so nostalgic t.t
|
lol dude thats pretty bad.
years ago when i was hooked on d2, after a long day's worth of mfing, lying in bed trying to sleep, i'd hear gold drop
|
so you didnt catchem all? loser. I bet youre just a bugcatcher.
|
TBH pokemon gold and silver is better than red/blue.

hahahaha

yellow was hardcore. best one for sure.
|
i swear that doesn't make sense. "So much sound" went in and started reflecting due to the water inside you ear? That would mean that you would've heard echoes of your doctor, dad, and everything else you heard while this was going. Maybe i'm wrong. i probably am.
|
i played too much wc3 many summers ago and i started hearing "your allies town is under attack" even when i wasnt on the computer.
|
silver gold was the best
it had all of red/blue in it!
|
Guys I have no idea wtf the doctor was saying, all I knw is that it somehow worked LOL!
|
Holy SHIT ahahah
That actually can happen? o_O

the abandoned mansion on cinnabar island had the same music too :<

That diagnoses sounds 100% made up.

I actually found lavendar town music creepy too ~_~
Except in Gold/Silver. For some reason, it was much catchier and more nostalgic than the red/blue versions' version.
|
That doctor is either retarded or was trying to scare you or something.
|
Red/Blue/Yellow was the best no question
I got all 150 in Yellow and 147 in Blue. Stopped at around 127 in Red though iirc
Wasn't as addicted to the next generations as I was to the originals though

Pokemon center music was the best imo 2nd was gym leader my favorite music track from all the pokemon games was in GS when you find Entei/Raikou/Suicune (they had their own special track )

Well I was a kid back then, I think he was just messing with me to make me believe this stuff cuz i remember him talking to my dad separately LOL.

"DragoonPK, I'm afraid you hear music in your head because you touch yourself in the shower."

Red -> Yellow in 5th-7th grade ftw.
That diagnosis sounds like bullshit, there is no way that the sound wave can reverberate endlessly without distortion or loss of energy.
Thread diagnosis: [] true [] realistic [x] mildly entertaining
EDIT: After the explanation of the doctor talking to your dad:
Option A [x] true [x] mildly entertaining [x] lol factor at doctor
Option B [] true [x] mildly entertaining [x] weak attempt at saving face

yellow was stupid...the hell is a pikachu gonna do vs the rock gym

it worked wonders.

yellow was awesome then silver then there was way too many, and they started looking rediculous
|
pretty much what fanatacist said. There is no way that's the real reason for you hearing music and even if it was you don't get medicine against water in your ears.
Made you quit playing fanatically though so it served it's purpose I guess
|
glad you didn't die when you deleted your satanic voodoo savegame \o/
|
It was all about red for me, i remember when i got the game.. everyone had it and was playing it like crazzzzzzzy.. I remember there were like strategy guides on pokemon just a whole magazine and this made like all the nerds popular until everyone else got it.. I whored red so much it was a joke, then yellow and then got bored of pokemon after that..
Pokemon cards were worse though, holy shit.. Then that died down way sooner than the games did, bringing pokemon cards to school got banned though as some kid stole this whole binder with so many cards.. Everyone knew who did it even though he denied it everytime..
|
Yeah, at my school some kid in grade 6 or so brought a Charizard card to school when it was the most expensive card out, and he got totally swarmed and mobbed. The teachers had to pull people away from him. The cards were banned the next day.

I find this blog funny and interesting. I wanna hear stuff ^_^ like that i like the GBA pokemon music.

I thought this was going to be about too many Pokemon because they keep adding more when new ones come out. I miss when it was just 150.
|
Have never tuched or seen anything pokemonrelated, mostly due to old age I guess. However I played a bit too much theme park when I was young and heard the music when I were away from the game. Really annoying, went away after a day or so.
|
I laughed at the diagnoses. It is complete bullshit.

Yeah I thought exactly the same. First two were the maximum I could take, then it became boring TT

OMG I HAD THE EXACT SAME THING WHEN I WAS A KID
It happened when I was on vacation with my aunt and she had a swimming pool I thought I had just gone crazy from too much pokemon LOL
|
Wow, that's fucked up lol. I was into the pokemon cards but I never played the games.
|
Are you sure you went to a doctor and not a quack?

LOL!

that doesnt make much sense... human tissue would absorb the vibrations from the sound easily, regardless of the water coz the water is in contact with the tissue.
I don't think you're lying tho.
|
If what you say is true then I should listen to my teachers better and then have water in my ear to remember what they said

you deleted your savefile because you thought you had cursed yourself by naming the game character after your own name? ROFL

I loved silver, its my favourite. Two regions, and the coolest pokemon imo.
You know, the first game I EVER played was the pokemon trading card game on GBC? Man that game was awesome. Has anyone else played it?

Aint a true Pokemon master until you've played Pokemon Snap. Ooh yeah, that game was the shit.

I was pissed off when I found out you had to link shit from blue to red and vice versa to catch 'em all, cause my parents were too cheap to buy both.

Nice story. I sometimes randomly hear MSN or Xfire sounds if it's relatively quiet. By the way, can anyone still save on their silver/gold cartridge? I remember a couple of years back I wanted some nostalgia and pulled out my old silver cart, only to be disappointed when there was no 'Continue' option. I started a new game and saved it but when I turned it on again the save was gone. I think it was due to some bs about the battery inside the actual cart running dry, rendering the game dead.

I did the same thing.
Next day I took it outside with my rifle in hand.:/
