Else if the usb on the comp still works it's pretty much assured that keyboard is dead although keyboards should more or less last for about 20 years for all intensive purposes. Unless you have proof to believe otherwise like you plugged it into another computer and it worked out just fine.

Ok, so non-keyboard USB devices work, and the keyboard definitely works on other computers, but for some reason, it doesn't recognize USB keyboards at all? Do you have a Linux live CD or something you can boot from, to see if the hardware works in a different OS?

EDIT : The kind th at wont work is the kind that plugs into the back (the one with the metal spike things) but the kind with the port looking thing you plug stuff into the front i.e flash drive will work in the computer with no problem. This leads me to believe this is a hardware problem rather than a driver one

I believe im going to have to buy a part to change the PS/2 into a USB so that should fix my problem
