EDIT: Hmm, looks like audacity doesn't support ripping. Regardless, you can still rip the whole thing and then edit w/ audacity EDIT EDIT: Goldwave (another free audio editing program) successfully ripped from a wmv video, maybe it'll work w/ .mp4s

If you set audacity to record stereo mix, it will record whatever is being outputted from your mic out. Just play the part you want and press record

anyway if you are desperate you can download procaster and then set video to really low quality while making audio look like this: and under desktop check "save video to files" which saves to my videos it's gonna be a flv. also what is the secret behind procaster's record "speakers audio" option? :s

it requires command line though :[. it's super simple once you get the hang of it, and EXTREMELY powerful for compressing/decompressing/encoding etc

First download an video/audio converter, and convert your mp4 to a mp3 file. After that open it up in Audacity and cut out the audio section you want and save it as an mp3 again.

Official Site http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html (Read the features on this page and see how impressive it is). http://www.videohelp.com/tools/SUPER (Download here, much faster) Its the ultimate video/audio converter. Its like the VLC of converters, Here's the setting to rip audio from ANY video file. (It definitely works for MKV) + Show Spoiler + I use it to: - Convert videos for ipod - DVD to avi - youtube files to ipod - get audio from video files - pretty any video conversion

Daum Pot player plays MKV just fine. Most of the subbed animes are in either mkv or mp4, so I can't do much (.avi has shitty quality)

For watching videos, use Media Player Classic and nothing else. VLC is old news and doesn't work as well as it did when it came out. I love MKV file format, but it's only good while you're on the computer. You get to choose the audio streams, choose the sub streams, etc etc. You don't get that with many other containers. But if you're planning on using the video anywhere else, download AllToAvi so you can convert the videos. It lets you choose what audiostream you want, what softsubs you want to turn into hardsubs and it's really easy to use. Make sure you have CCCP too, of course gl gl
