About 2 weeks ago I noticed a nice dark blue bmw 330i parked just across the street of my apartment. Smoked window glass, portuguese registration plate. I love that car that's why I noticed it in the first place. The next day I noticed a similar car stoped in the red light just outside my house. "What are the odds?" I thought "it even has the same smoked windows". I figured it was surely the car of some neighbour or something. A few days later (maybe 2 or 3 days), during my lunch break just when I was returning to the office I noticed AGAIN a similar car parked at about 50 meters from my job. Note: my job is in another city, about 20km from my home. This time I got the plate ID and memorized it in my cell phone. And today... while I was finishing my lunch at a restaurant about 1km away from my job I saw the same car passing by really slowly. I confirmed the plate ID and it was really the same car. But today I finally got to see one of the ocupiers. He was sitting in the front seat next to the driver and exited the car. The driver kept driving after he left and I couldn't see where the car went. I was getting a bit nervous because I have been making up stuff in my head like as if these guys were really stalking me. To make things worse the guy that had just left the car was walking towards the restaurant I was having lunch at. He was tall (about 190cm), white, short hair, jeans, a shirt and a black cap. He had 2 ear rings, one in each ear, both golden. He enters the restaurant (I was sitting in an esplanade having lunch) and orders a coffee and a pack of marlboro cigarettes. I didn't notice him looking at me at all. About 2-3 minutes later he leaves the restaurant and turns on the first street corner and after that I didn't see him anymore or the bmw.
I'm seriously considering telling something to the police because I felt all these coincidences were extremely suspicious. The only thing I don't know is if those guys are actually cops. I didn't have any kind of incidents in the past months, even years! Just one time I was caught with some drugs but that's just for personal use, I don't sell anything!
What do you guys think? Am I getting crazy/overreacting? What should I do? I'm getting a bit scared, that guy was pretty big.

Your being paranoid, it's probably just a coincidence. If however if they threaten you or other such negative things then you go to the police.

Yeah if that story is accurate and you are as convinced as you sound (just run through in your head the possibility that you are paranoid and see how many holes in this story your brain might have filled in by itself) then you should talk to the police... what else can you do?
edit: maybe wait until you can confirm the plate is the same a second time?
|
@micronesia: I don't know the equivalent in the US, I thought BMWs where the same everywhere. It's a 330i from 2005. About the plate, it was the same I'm 100%... I can wait to see if I see the car again and confirm it again, but since one of the guys just showed himself I have no idea how the next encounter could be... for now I'll just think of these as coincidences, at least I don't have to be looking at every bmw passing by.

Maybe its a nearby neighbor that recently purchased the car and happens to roam the same areas as you do. Don't be to paranoid about it. Maybe you should twist the plot and start to stalk them. LOL Don't do that.
Reminds me of this time when I had stayed with a cousin for a couple of weeks I kept running into this women at all the surrounding stores. I started to get paranoid thinking that the lady might have the thought of me stalking her.

My guess is the drugs are making you a bit paranoid perhaps. I take it you smoke some mary jane from time to time?

I havent smoked in a while now and I wouldn't smoke during my work schedule duh.

you could hire a private detective and give him the plates and he can figure out who is stalking you.
|
are you involved in any sort of shit? dealing drugs or crime or anything?
because if you're just another regular guy don't worry about it. coincidences. people don't stalk others for no reason.

Do you live alone in your house? If this is real, the most probable explanation is they're trying to get your life rhythm down for an optimal timing to rob your house. Do you have any valuables in your house?
edit: ask your neighbours if they've been getting random calls. Most smart burglars tend to look for a moment where the neighbours are gone too.
Maybe someone hired a detective to check out your routine. Do you have a wife that suspects you of cheating?
|
Hey the least you can do is write it in a journal entry and pass it to a family member or something. Description of the dude, the car, and the times you saw them (what you were doing and stuff).

why would people in a bmw 330i need to steal anything

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not after you. Sounds a bit to much to be a coincidence to me.

Start having a seizure (fake) in public, and interpret the reactions of your supposed stalkers.

find out who those plates belong to do you really live in Portugal? shouldnt be a problem

kill him and take the car
|
that's the car?
anyways first thing to remember is this is portugal not the states, and it is very possible you are being stalked.
Does anyone in your family, or who you deal with frequently have and illicit connections? or are any of them paramedics?
in case you didn't know in portugal ambulance drivers are usually bribed/blackmailed into transporting alcohol or drugs, around the country since it is less likely a cop will stop an ambulance.
what city do you live in, if you don't mind my asking?

If you really believe someone is stalking you then tell the police about the situation, they might look into it. If they don't just hire a private detective as people have mentioned.
You gotta get this out of your head one way or another. You can't live like that man. I'd go crazy.
EDIT: Small side story
I remember one time I got off the bus really late around 10:00 PM at my usual stop and started walking towards my house. As I'm walking I notice a man in back of me. Normally I wouldn't think of anything of it, but the fact that after a while it seemed like he was following me and that fact that he looked really shady bothered me.
I mean he looked like a serial killer. He was wobbling as he was walking and his face jerked like he was having spasms.
I started getting really freaked out, and I then suddenly busted out running to my house. I mean I ran like crazy. I was really paranoid and freaked out.
I get home, and I immediately close the door and lock it. I then go to my front window and peak out. I see the guy, but he doesn't enter the Cul-de-sac I live in.
I tell my brother that I thought I was followed, and he asks me how did he look like. I tell him he was some old guy who wobbled as he walked. He asks if he had gray hair and I tell him he did. It turns out the guy was an old man who lived on nearby block.
He was probably coming home from a long day at work.
I felt like such an asshole.

Things to do:
Immediately call the police and notify them of the suspicious persons. Give them the license plate and describe the frequent occurrences of them showing up at various locations related to you.
Call the police again the very next time you see them. Someone following you at such disparate locations in a tinted BWM is unlikely to be a coincidence.
Check all the window and door locks at your place; make sure they all function.
Step up your vigilance. These guys could very well be scouting you for a robbery based off of some perceived income or status. Don't be afraid to let them know you're aware of them in public settings. Next time the car is sitting near you at a restaurant, wave. If you catch them near you in public again, make their presence very public. It all serves to deter them from interacting with you in any way, ideally including any sort of robbery.

Thanks for the input guys, next time I spot them "following" me I'll contact the police asap.

I don't understand what you mean about this not being the states. I think this is a very safe country and there isn't too much crime going on... The city I live in is Lisbon and has about 2 million inhabitants, it's not a small village that's why I don't believe in coincidences.
There isn't drug traffic going around using ambulances, at least not in a large scale. About 90% of the drugs come from morocco by boat or even from spain, and the transactions are done in the beach really fast.

I lived in Lisbon for 3 years, i know exactly how dangerous it can be, and how safe it can be, as should you.
As for drug trafficking, we receive the supply from Morocco by boat and run them across our border through spain, we rarely import from European countries, especially in large scales.
The ambulances are for local trafficking of alcohol mostly, but also drugs. You obviously are not involved in big crime rings, or have any problems of that caliber, so that is why i asked about the possibility of an acquaintance having access to an ambulance, since they are usually run locally, and by less dangerous people who would typically try to stalk you as a scare tactic etc..
and as for it being a safe country well it is very location dependent, there are safe areas, which thankfully covers the vast majority of the country, and there are dangerous areas, which unfortunately includes areas in Lisbon.
oh well, if you stop posting we'll know what happened ^ ^
